StupidBoy, Pirc is playing good. Expect him to get more minutes next season! And good work attacking the Machine!

Thierry, Tyson was awesome. :)

During the 4th game of the the Lakers/Stealth series a quiet arrest was made. This arrest has now garnered world wide attention as it involves a Con artist known Benny HInn who supposedly does miracles through God's power. Benny Hinn is also known for making bold predictions. He also says all you have to do is claim something and God will give it to you.

Among the initial charges are 10000 counts of swindling, 1000s of counts of embezzling, 60 counts of falsifying tax records among other things.

Since being arrested, charges of Drug trafficing and 2 charges of murder (unknown class) have been added as well. Apparently police feel that Mr. Hinn may have been the one to actually kill these two men.

More on this developing story later

update... there may be a connection between Mr. Hinn and someone with the lakers. Sources are suggesting substances banned by the NBA were found somewhere in the arena along with a few guns!
Stay tuned to very interesting scenario playing out

(sit i hope that this does not throw you off. and i am not trying to hijack your thread. btw Mr. Hinn is a real person)

Stealth Falls At Home, Lakers Force Game Six

Preview | Box Score | Recap

Derek Fisher Came Up Big In Game Five

25 April, 2010

SEATTLE (AP) – After four blown out scores in four games, the Lakers-Stealth first round playoff series did not seem like it would get any more boring. However, fans of both teams finally got their money’s worth as the two teams produced the first close game of the series.

Veteran PG Derek Fisher played his best game of the season when it mattered the most with his Lakers with their backs against the wall. Fisher scored 24 points and handed out 9 assists as LA avoided elimination. “It took a while for us to have a game that was not decided by halftime,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson quipped after the game.

Kobe Bryant led his side with 28 points and although Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol did not have jaw dropping performances on the attacking end; the two of them were tough to crack whilst on defence. Gasol had 2 blocks and Bynum had 6; not to mention the ammount of times the two of them used their wingspan to divert their opponents’ shots.

“It was tough to score against Pau and Bynum,” Stealth PF David Lee admitted, “They were a big reason why LA won tonight.” Lee finished with just 8 points and 5 rebounds, clearly frsutrated down the stretch when he could not get an open look anywhere near the hoop. Kevin Durant led Seattle with 26 points.

In a spur of the moment move, Coach George Karl opted to start Adam Morrison instead of Jeff Green and Reshawn Tyson. That move looked promising as Morrison opened the game with a three pointer from the top of the key before coming down on the next posession and scoring against Kobe. However, Morrison cooled down and was a non-factor for much of the second half in which Karl stubbornly refused to sit him out. Morrison ended up with 12 points while Green added 11. Tyson did not even get to step onto the floor after starting Game 4.

The game was close from the very beginning and neither team was able to gain the upper hand in the matchup. After leading for much of the middle two quarters, the Lakers suffered a lapse of concentration during the final period, allowing Seattle to grab their first lead since the end of the first quarter.

With Seattle in the lead late in the game, the Stealth did not want the Lakers to get any easy chances. Bryant was sent to the line at the end of two hard fouls, “I thought the guys who fouled me weren’t actually going for the ball.” He stayed composed though and hit all four of his free throws in a 30 second span. The result was the Lakers snatching back the lead from the Stealth with 1:30 left in the game.

Jeff Green scored a layup with 1:16 left putting Seattle ahead 96-95. That would be the last field goal that Seattle would score before Fisher converted a strong drive to the rim, Bryant stole the ball and dunked at the other end, and Rodney Stuckey hit a wide open jumper with 24.1 seconds left to push the Lakers lead up to 5 points; 96-101. It was during that last minute of play where Kidd, Durant both missed three pointers and Andrew Bynum came away with two swats on David Lee.

The game’s outcome was set after Durant missed an easy bucket and gathered his won missed shot and was fouled. He had not missed a free throw all night and missed his first attempt. Although he made his second, the Stealth still trailed by 4 points with 20 seconds left. Seattle did not foul on the next possession and allowed the Lakers to dribble it out.

“There was no point,” Durant explained, “We’re ready to go to LA and win Game 6.”

“LA played better defence when it mattered,” Coach Karl said, “They kept things close and executed down the stretch. Now we’ve got to go to LA and finish them off there. We don’t want a seventh game even if it is at home.”

Notes: Morrison hit a three pointer at the end of the first quarter on the buzzer to put his team ahead by 2 points leading into the second quarter… This was the first time in the series that Seattle did not score at least 100 points. The team is averaging 109 ppg for the series. The Lakers are averaging 102 ppg but if you take out their Game 3 total of 141, that average drops to 92 ppg… Karl stated that Morrison would not start the next game but would not rule out if Green would be back in the starting five…

Hawks Finish Off Pacers

April 26, 2010

ATLANTA (AP) – The Atlanta Hawks advanced to the second round of the playoffs by winning Game 5 108-90. After heading into the final quarter being down by 30, Indiana tried to stage a late comeback and succeeded for a few minutes as they hit back at the hosts with a 15-0 scoring run but it was too little too late as Atlanta regrouped and dominated their opponents to close the match and series.

Joe Johnson scored 34 points, Ben Gordon had 16, and Josh Smith filled the entire stat sheet. Smith finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks and although he was just 6 for 15 from the field, his impact on the game was undeniably important. It was all smiles for Smith despite going on review for a hard foul against Indiana’s Danny Granger late in the second quarter, “We’re going to the next round. I’m happy for us; this ain’t about me because I’m about the team.”

Danny Granger had a tough night as the Hawks sent swarms of defenders at him to put him off. Granger slugged his way through the affair and finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds. He shot terribly and finished 6 for 19. TJ Ford contributed 18 points and 8 assists while Brandon Roy added 17 points.

Dwyane Wade led Miami with 21 points and 8 assists while James Jones added 24. Shaun Livingston scored 12 points and added 4 assists after the Heat decided to take Chalmers off the floor due to his ineffectiveness for the night. Michael Beasley was also lacklustre.

Denver Fail To Gain Advantage Returning Home

April 26, 2010

Okur was 11 for 19 from the field and sank four three pointers during Utah’s rousing 17 point win against the second seeded Denver Nuggets. Denver now faces elimination in Game 6 on Utah’s homecourt after their 74-91 loss.

Deron Williams was brilliant in his won right by notching 23 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and rookie Donnell Lawrence had his first ever postseason double double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. “No one gave us a chance (to be in the series) but we are proving ourseles right now,” Williams said, “Carlos (Boozer) leaving us was tought but Donnell has really been improving every game.”

Andrew Watson led Denver with 20 points but was unable to help his team defend their homecourt due to the play of his team mates. Carmelo Anthony was 5 for 17 from the field and finsihed with just 15 points while Chauncey Billups hit 10 points and 6 assists but shot poorly as well; 4 for 14. Kobe Bryant’s reverse jam raised the Staples Centre roof

27 April, 2010

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Kevin Durant scored 19 of his team’s 24 points in the fourth quarter; he not only had the hot hand but also had a hot head after the game. Durant may be suspended by his team for the Stealth’s crucial Game 7 against the Lakers in two days.

After the 104-91 loss, Durant launched a verbal tirade on his teammates and was especially harsh on rookie starter Reshawn Tyson. The two of them were apparently engaged in a fist fight in the visitors’ change room and had to be separated by coaching staff. For his involvement, Tyson faces being benched for the next game.

“Our season is on the line,” Head Coach George Karl stated, “But we need to make sure everyone understands that no one player is above another. No one is above the concept of the team. This is what I stand for, I want my players to be cohesive and not play the blame game.” Durant and Tyson both declined to comment on the issue with the two of them leaving in separate cars.

Durant finished the match with 39 points while Tyson added 13 points in his second career start. The rookie struggled from the start and missed 11 of the 16 shots he took.

Kobe Bryant was once again the star for the Lakers as he scored 33 points. Derek Fisher backed up his Game 5 efforts with 20 points.

The Seattle Stealth found it hard to score in the paint against the big man pairing of Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol. The two of them combined to block 12 shots in Game 6 after having 8 in Game 5. Lakers coach Phil Jackson was pleased with the effort, “It’s safe to say that my guys have figured out their counterparts. The Stealth forwards looked pretty intimidated out on the floor and had to think twice before they went for buckets.”

Brad Miller and David Lee were largely ineffective for the Stealth as they were bullied and pushed around by the Lakers’ frontcourt. The two will have to step up their games if the Stealth are to have any chance of advancing past the first round. “We were really taken out of our comfort zone,” Lee admitted after the game, “They are doing a great job defending in the low post. The onus is on Brad, Chris (Wilcox), and I to step up in the next game.”

Although the Lakers led from the beginning, the game was close for the opening two quarters. Los Angeles pulled away from their opponents with some dead eye shooting the third quarter; Fisher and Bryant hitting two triples each in the period. As the Stealth went into the break trailing by double digits, Durant looked visibly frustrated with his teammates.

Durant tried to fix things by opening the third quarter with a three pointer and then hitting back to back jumpers a minute later. That was the quarter he would wind up scoring 19 of his team’s 24 points. However, Los Angeles would jump to a 20 point lead early in the final period before a furious comeback by Seattle would but the lead to 8 points. The closing minutes of the game saw the Lakers’ interior defense proving too strong and holding the Stealth at bay.

“This is what we do best,” Fisher told reporters after the match, “We play hard and now it’s time for us to finish this team off.” When asked about what he thought about Seattle, Kobe added, “I believe that they are talented but I don’t think that they have the experience or edge to win a Game 7.”

With Game 7 in Seattle shaping up to be a big game, only time will tell if the Seattle Stealth will make it past the team that was supposed to easily dispose of them. “I remember before this started that people thought we’d be out by now but we’re at Game 7,” Kidd stated, “However, we’ve had two chances to finish the series and it has not happened. That says a lot of bad things about us.”

Notes: The LA Lakers reportedly have two players under investigation after sources claim that a recent drug bust operation in suburban Los Angeles uncovered a stash of illegal substances and unregistered weapons… George Karl has stated that his starting lineup for the following game will include Jeff Green and Trevor Ariza… Seattle has been brilliant at home against the Lakers so the odds are fore a Stealth win…

Watson, Nuggets Cling To Life

April 28, 2010

UTAH (AP) – 28 year old rookie Andrew Watson continues to make huge strides in his maiden NBA season. The SG scored 25 points and added 6 rebounds and 5 assists as he helped his side stay alive in their first round playoff series. Winning the game 105-86, in Utah, sets them up for a decisive Game 7 in Denver.

The win comes days after it was announced that Moses Chara was the Rookie of the Year. When questioned on whether that made him play any harder, Watson just smiled and did not comment. Carmelo Anthony has 22 points and 5 rebounds while Chauncey Billups added 20 points and 5 assists. Bobby Jackson scored 16 and JR Smith had 15. Watson, Billups, and Jackson combined to hit 11 long range shots.

Mehmet Okur led Utah with 21 points and Morris Almond had 15 but the Jazz watched helplessly as their leader Deron Williams was shut down by Billups’ physical defence. Williams finished with just 9 points and 5 assists and shot at 3 for 16 from the field.

Timberwolves Stun New Orleans To Stay Alive

April 28, 2010

MINNESOTA (AP) – Not only did Minnesota stay alive in their playoff series against the team with the best record in the Western Conference; they destroyed them. Minnesota let their intentions known that they wanted to advance to the next round and walloped New Orleans 99-74.

Ryan Gomes had his best game in these playoffs with 24 points, 5 rebound, and 4 assists. Mike Bibby bounced back from a poor Game 5 performance with 15 points and 8 assists while Al Jefferson did the same, adding 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.

Chris Paul struggled by shooting 5 for 16 from the field but still notched a double double of 14 points and 11 assists. David West was the same and finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Peja Stojakovic led the Hornets with 22 points.

Houston Fall, Will Face Blazers In A Seventh Game

April 28, 2010

PORTLAND (AP) – The Houston Rockets completed an amazing feat by falling to the Portland Trailblazers and allowing their first round series to reach a seventh game. That means that for the first time in the NBA history, all four Western Conference first round playoff series have gone the distance.

“This just shows how competitive this league is,” Steve Nash stated, “Every point counts. You never get to rest when you play in the West.”

Nash came back from a disappointing Game 5, cut short by injury, and finished with 15 points and 9 assists. Carlos Boozer regained his scoring instinct by sinking 28 points and Travis Outlaw added 16. Yao Ming had 28 points and 8 rebounds while Tracy Macgrady scored 24. Unfortunately, the two of them received little help from anyone else on their team in the 101-97 loss.

Lakers Players In Federal Investigation

April 28, 2010

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Investigators in the Benny Hinn case have publically stated that two Los Angeles Lakers players are under investigation. In a statement released by the FBI, it is alleged that two NBA basketball players have been involved in drug trafficking.

In the brief, it was also stated that as a result of a raid of one of the player’s house, a sizable amount of illegal and banned substances and weapons were seized.

The Lakers have declined to comment, days ahead of their crucial Game 7 against the Seattle Stealth while the NBA issued a statement: ‘We are aware of who are the subjects of the FBI investigation. However due to confidentiality, the two players involved will not be named.’
