How do you set user profile to player 1.

The game asked me to set up a user profile but it automatically puts me at player two, which is the keyboard instead of the game controller. How do I set up user profile on player 1 so I don't have to keep switching control to game controller everytime I play a game.

First delete your 2k9 setting file than you start the game normally and when the (PRESS ANY BUTTON TO START) phrase apper don't touch your keyboard and start the game with your controller by that the controller will become the default device to control the game instead of the keyboard.

what if you don't want to delete the settings file? I'm having same issue. I have 3 VIP's on 2k9, one for my brother against me, one for me against my brother, & the other one is for my games against CPU....today when I went to play him & we had 2 controllers on, it didn't allow us to select the 2 we wanted, so I had to turn a 3rd controller on....I'm sure there is a solution, probably a basic one....even loading VIP didn't work....any help on basic query would be appreciated
