FPS Problem

Postby mr2ksports on Wed Oct 29, 2008 10:33 pm

Specs:
P4 3.2 Ghz HT (478)
2 GB DDR400 3-3-3-8
Gainward 7800 GS+ 512 MB DDR3 256 bit

guys my problem is what ever resolution i use i just get 30 fps on 5 v 5 game. At 640 x 480 and 1440 x 900 i get the same number of fps. Btw here's my settings all high except on crowd with 2x MSAA.

Anyone experience this? Any solutions would be appreciated :D

ha? don't you get it? running on lower resolution will give you a boost for FPS. And in my case whatever resolution i use still i get the same number of FPS on 5 v 5 game

I know what you guys mean, but the solution to this is to have MSAA off instead of "x2" then you will have in the high 50s of fps

Looks like your cpu is a bottleneck which is why you aren't getting any extra fps when you lower the resolution. Also, if you can run at 1440x900, turn off MSAA like TC#10 said, you don't really need it.

I tried the MSAA off and on and nothing, same FPS? Is there a work around "bottle neck"?

Like Pdub said, it's probably because of your cpu. You might want to try putting all the graphic settings to low and/or play in windows mode

turned off MSAA and tried windows mode, same number of fps.

tried turning everything to off except for player detail to high, same number of fps

tried turning everything to high except for player detail and the crowd to low, gained fps

do you think that the player detail is a bug?

well then, you should turn player detail and crowd to low and then try everything else either on medium/low and MSAA to off.

try turning vsync off, it'll increase fps but with some luck will not have tearing if your monitor refresh rate and fps are ratioed well

Give these a shot mr2ksports, let me know how the game runs:

VIDEOSETTING_ADAPTERINDEX = 0
VIDEOSETTING_WIDTH = 800
VIDEOSETTING_HEIGHT = 600
VIDEOSETTING_COLORDEPTH = 32
VIDEOSETTING_VSYNC = 0
VIDEOSETTING_REFRESHRATE = 60
VIDEOSETTING_WINDOWMODE = 0
VIDEOSETTING_MSAA = 2
VIDEOSETTING_MSAAQUALITY = 0
VIDEOSETTING_MAXTEXTURESIZE = 512
VIDEOSETTING_DEPTHOFFIELD = 0
VIDEOSETTING_FLOORREFLECTION = 1
VIDEOSETTING_CROWDDETAIL = 1
VIDEOSETTING_SHADERDETAIL = 0
VIDEOSETTING_PLAYERLOD = 2
VIDEOSETTING_SIDELINECHARACTER = 0
MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD = 1
GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD = 0
STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 0
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH = 2
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH_SLEEP = 0
STICKYKEY = 498
TOGGLEKEY = 50
FILTERKEY = 114
ACCESSIBILITYKEY_SAVED = 0
LANGUAGE = -482460772
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 5
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

Just change your resolution to what you like. I am running a pentium D 820 dual core with a 7800GT 256mb card. I get about 50fps at 1360x768 (highest my lcd allows) with these settings.

Thanks to NjRider14 i can play maxxed out with no lag
i was running the game on a nvidia 7600gt and the game was lagging on ultra high and slightly lagging on high so i went out and bought a 9800 gt oc and i was thinking alright should beable to max out now.. but nope the game still lagged then i came across some more info on changing the config file and i changed the CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 from = 1 to = 2 and got a slight gain in fps than i came accross what NjRider14 said and changed it to 5 and bam now i play the game fully maxxed with no lag.. here is what my config file looks like..

VIDEOSETTING_ADAPTERINDEX = 0
VIDEOSETTING_WIDTH = 1280
VIDEOSETTING_HEIGHT = 960
VIDEOSETTING_COLORDEPTH = 32
VIDEOSETTING_VSYNC = 0
VIDEOSETTING_REFRESHRATE = 75
VIDEOSETTING_WINDOWMODE = 0
VIDEOSETTING_MSAA = 8
VIDEOSETTING_MSAAQUALITY = 2
VIDEOSETTING_MAXTEXTURESIZE = 4096
VIDEOSETTING_DEPTHOFFIELD = 1
VIDEOSETTING_FLOORREFLECTION = 1
VIDEOSETTING_CROWDDETAIL = 2
VIDEOSETTING_SHADERDETAIL = 1
VIDEOSETTING_PLAYERLOD = 3
VIDEOSETTING_SIDELINECHARACTER = 2
MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD = 1
GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD = 0
STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 1
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH = 2
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH_SLEEP = 0
STICKYKEY = 498
TOGGLEKEY = 50
FILTERKEY = 114
ACCESSIBILITYKEY_SAVED = 1
LANGUAGE = -482460772
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 5
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

i hope this helps as much as it has to me..

ps. i also have V-sync turned off in the game but in the nvidia control panel i have it set to be forced on.. i found that to help with the smoothness (Y)

I'll try this when I get home. I tried changing it to 2 as well and nothing really happened. I will try the 5 when i get home. What exactly does the 5 mean and do? My refresh rate is at 60, what does putting it up to 75 do?

I have:
Dell Dimension e510
Intel P4 3.0GHZ
< 2550 MB memory
145 gig Hard drive
Windows Vista
Nvidia 8800GT 512 MB

Any FPS, my gameplay runs between 21-28 FPS all the time, I can be the lowest setting or high (ultra high really lags--I get between 7-10FPS), everything else runs at around (videos and screens etc) 50-65 FPS.

Any advice, P-dub suggested that my machine was bottlenecking. Is the only cure for that to get anew proccessor?
