Madden is a kick ass game especially if you're a big football fan. Most realistic game out there and the frenachise mode is much more in depth than live's. There's no way you'll be disapointed with this game. I'd say more but I'm tired, so if you have any specific questions about the game just post them and i'll answer them.

I've been reading a lot about Madden 03 and everything i read said how amazing and extraordinary the game is...
Do you own the pc or console version of the game? I think I'm gonna get the pc version tomorrow...I'm very excited, I'm finally gonna play a good game.
I read the pc version doesnt offer the wild card, is that right?
One important question, can you edit the players stats like we do in Nba Live?

Thank you in advace.

Also do you have a legend Pool like Nba Live does? If so can you trade this legend players to a team and play in franchise mode?
How deep is the "create a player" feature?

Thanks.

well personally, i found the game utterly boring... but this is coming from a person who never saw a single american football game in his life... nor is interested in them.

but you'd prolly like it if you are a fan... i thought the graphics were real nice.

I own the X-box version of the game.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by wildcard, if you mean in the playoffs I'm almost 100% sure that it does.

beau_boy04 wrote:One important question, can you edit the players stats like we do in Nba Live?

Yes you can edit players stats.

beau_boy04 wrote:Also do you have a legend Pool like Nba Live does?

Not exactly, there are these things called madden cards that you can collect in a variety of ways and each madden card is either a hidden stadium, player or stupid cheat. However if you get the pc version im sure you'll be able to download a profile with everything unlocked.

beau_boy04 wrote:If so can you trade this legend players to a team and play in franchise mode?

Yes you can.

beau_boy04 wrote:How deep is the "create a player" feature?

This I'm not really sure of since I don't play with this feature but from what I remeber it's much more in depth than past versions of live.

Btw if you want more information you can also visit sites such as www.maddenmania.com or www.maddenplanet.com but I believe this is down at the moment.

Like you said it's probably because you don't know/love the sport of football (American). It's probably the most strategic sport around.

Thank you very much Bob for answering all my questions... I went to the store and got me a copy of Madden 03 and I'm still trying to get used to the game. I'm very impressed on how deep and customizable the game is. This game is way much better in any category compared to Live 03. If the Madden production team is tasked to produce Live 04 I think we would finally see a excellent game. I can't stress anymore what a wonderul game Madden is. It has so many features and some others cool stuff that I never expected.

I mentioned something about wildcard earlier... well I meant to say Madden card... I still don't know if the Madden cards were included in the Pc version. If anybody knows please help me out on this one and how do I earn these M cards?

Well I gotta leave, I have to go play the game :)

Peace out

HomieGee,

You mentioned something about downloadin the EA patch... what Kind of patch is this? is it a updated roster patch? I went to http://www.maddenmania.com/ and the patch has been delayed. If you wasn't talking about this patch then where can I go to download the patch you referred to?

Thanks.

About the madden cards, I believe they may have been left out of the pc version but I'm not completely sure.

I'm a casual football fan, so which any of you would recommend? Madden or NFL 2k3? I've heard great things about both. Which one is easier to get into (controls)?

Gamespot has given Sega's NFL 2K3 a higher rating for both Xbox and PS2. The PS2 one almost was given a perfect score. I have played both on Xbox and prefer 2K3 over Madden anyday. But sadly, Sega hasn't released any of their good sports games on PC so I'd choose Madden as my football game if I only had a PC.

Thanks for your response. I have a PS2 and I think I'm gonna buy NFL 2K3 tomorrow. Also, I looked at the price and it's only $29.99.

there are no madden cards in pc. try the automatic updater on madden's startup screen for the new patch, if that doesn't work go to ea.com and look for downloads for madden 2003, you should be able to get it there. there's some game enhancements, fixes and roster update in the patch.

If you have a PC madden 2002 is definitely the best way to go. Engine is solid [for the most part], graphics are top notch and you can even create custom teams.

The major disadvantages in my view are the inability to edit "all" graphic files aside to sliver, midfield, helmet, main, and endzone logos [hence not full customization that we been accustomed to with the Live series] and the inability to having on-line custom franchises. Unfortunately these option were not provided in this years version of Madden. But compared to Madden 2k2, Madden 2k3 is better by leaps and bounds. I'd highly recommend it. I'm even working on some custom artwork for madden as we speak.

Best,

P

Madden cards were not included in the pc version!!! why not? any logical reasons?
I've been playing the franchise and its extremely awesome....im in my 4th season and even though they have it up to 30 seasons...it would become a boredom just like everything else in life. But the game is extremely awesome ( madden 03 ) and has lots of nice feautures which live is lacking big time.

Thanks.

I"ll try to download the patch tonight... thanks!!!!!!!

I have Madden 03 pc version... does anybody know how to declare the fair catch? I went to the controller configuration and no luck... anybody knows?
Ah before I forget, do you guys know what pancakes (nfl lenaguage) mean? this is done by the offensive linebacker.
Excuse my poor football language, the reason is I'm not a super footbal fan but after playin the game im starting to enjoy it a lot.

Thanks.

to call a fair catch you have to take control of the returner and then press button 4 i believe. it may depend on your controller configuration though. if all else fails go into practice mode and practice the punt returns and then try all the buttons till you get the correct one. pancakes are the stats recorded when your blockers lay someone flat. it's supposed to be used to determine how your linemen develop, but there's been some problems with this because they are only accurate when simming games for most people.

Thats a positive categorie for your defensive players. It means that they tackled the ball carrier behind the line of scrimage making him lose yardage. Go it?

the two main types are 4-3 and 3-4. 4-3 consists of 4 defensive lineman and 3 linebackers. Whereas 3-4 is the opposite being 3 defensive lineman and 4 linebackers. 3-4 will stop the outside run better and 4-3 the inside run better. I personaly prefer 3-4 but to play that defence you need to have good linebackers. I hope this sort of helped.

I want to create a player playing the C position to protect my Q from sacks! Is it a good idea to put everything to the limit? I want to make him rookie and dont allow any sacks to my Q.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I also wanna create a player like Ray Lewis (good in tackles) and Reggie White (good in sacks) can u suggest the rating i should put?

Thanks.

Postby beau_boy04 on Wed Jan 15, 2003 10:57 am

Can anybody explain me how the NFL records tackles?????? please

For example: in 2002 regular season stats Derrick Brooks recorded 87 tackles, 70 solo, 30 assists, 11 passes defended (data taken out from the stats links in the official nfl web site)
However after reading the article:
http://www.superbowl.com/news/story/6113868

it says the following:
He led his team in tackles (170) for the fifth consecutive year
Brooks also had career highs in interceptions (five) and passes defensed (15).

What's wrong with these calculations? I don't get it....what the "solo and assists" is supposed to mean and are they even different? how did they come up with the 170 tackles ? because having 87, 30 and 30 there is not way I can come up with 170.

Can anybody help me with this topic.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

ps. and if you play Madden 2003 for PC, I know a tackle means when I knockdown a player to the ground, push him off the side, etc.... there is no solo and assists in the game as long as i know...
