I don't know if that makes us any better...
I'd probably rather just not trade for Foster and Tinsley...

I'd rather not trade for Tinsley, but who wouldn't love to get Brand and Foster? The problem there is it leaves the team still thin in the backcourt. If they deal Billups to get a Brand or Marion, then the Pistons have to shift some of the size for some help.

I think Sheed could be moved better for someone like Brand or Marion who wants out because of his expiring deal. I would personally dangle Sheed with Stuckey and a pick for those type of players. Then sign backups for Billups.

I like Pietrus from your list, we don't need Najera really (too much frontcourt as it is), and Afflalo should be better than Ross (although Ross is a surprisingly nice ballhandler) sometime in the near future. Problem with Pietrus is he's not a point guard and I see no way he would get to start. I think he'd be fantastic as a "third guard" but I doubt he wants to be that. Azuibuike could be nice and easier to get to backup Prince and Rip.

I suspect Sacramento will overpay for Udrih, and there's probably better guys to get from the NBDL than Dickau.

If I could do whatever I wanted (i.e. this is NBA Live) and nobody could stop me or tell me "hey, this is wrong" to knock me off my rocker. I would do:
Rasheed Wallace, Rodney Stuckey and a pick or two for Elton Brand/Shawn Marion
Sign Azuibiuke if he doesn't command the full MLE. (Maybe Pietrus instead if he's not too expensive.)
Re-sign Herrmann to give the bench some shooting.
Bring four or so of the top point and combo guards from the NBDL into camp. And keep two of them for the season, eventually keeping whichever works best, or sending them back for replacements if both fizzle.

I think it's too soon to blow up for the long term future yet. A few slight edits and MOAR BENCH UNDER 35 YEARS OLD with some luck and you're in the Finals and contending to win it.

I'd love to see Baron Davis with Nuggets. Iverson needs a run and gun team and I think the Warriors suit him better. Isn't Baron Davis's contract up this year anyway? Either way...I think JR smith is ready to be the starting sg...I think the Nuggets have never had a true pointgaurd and Baron Davis is closer to the mold than Iverson is...I just think Iverson and Ellis in the backcourt would also be intense...And if they got Camby in a trade even better...The Warriors don't really have a solid center either.

They had Mark Jackson for 52 games in 1996/1997 before trading him back to Indiana as well as Andre Miller up until the Iverson trade, Tim Hardaway for 14 games back in 2001/2002, Nick Van Exel in 2000/2001, Bobby Jackson in 1997/1998 so they've had their share of noteworthy point guards who fulfil a more traditional point guard role.

hmmm... with the exception of mark jakson and maybe tim hardaway, the guards u mentioned are more shooting guards trapped inside a pgs body.....

They have those tendencies but they're not scorers the same way Allen Iverson is a scorer. Andre Miller in particular tends to fit the "traditional point guard" ideal.

I should've been more specific, and said with the lineup they have had since Iverson came...Seeing blake carter and Atkins run point isn't as ideal as any of the gaurds you mentioned...

The alternative would be to play AI at the point alongside Smith or Kleiza. Before last season, I thought we'd see that starting backcourt more often.

That doesn't leave them with a great deal of options. None of their big guards are suited to play the point, which either leaves them with a small backcourt or AI assuming some point guard duties while remaining a scorer.

looks like instead of melo, it could be T-mac heading to Detroit for Sheed & Hamilton. As a Rocket fan, I think that'll make the rockets a better team for sure. Ming/Sheed/Battier/Hamilton/Alston/(6th)Scola sounds like a well balanced team. Meanwhile, Detroit's wins will likely to decrease but sounds like worth a shot since each year, it's gonna be tougher to stay in top ranking in rapidly developing eastern conference.

If I was Detroit I wouldn't let Sheed go....Not unless Houston is willing to trade Battier with McGrady...Without a threat in the paint The pistons become a 1st round elimination Team...Especially with bigs like Dwight Howard, Garnett, and Chris Bosh in their Conference...McGrady alone isn't worth Sheed and Hamilton...Heck I wouldn't even trade stuckey and prince for McGrady...Tracy needs to just go back to the raptors for andrew barnyawning, Kapono and some 1st round draft picks. You can't build a team around McGrady anymore, but he can still win you a championship. He just can't be the main guy.

i would trade prince for melo straight up...... that would make the pistons pretty damn scary..... while at it, trade sheed for a decent post player who can play some d and the pistons win the championship....

The trade would be:

Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby and Taurean Green for Rasheed Wallace and Tayshaun Prince, so it's pretty much that.

I doubt it will happen, though.

If Shaq for Marion worked, I think Prince for Melo straight up will work too. Given the GMs are drugged up like Kerr.

Not really. They can ignore reason but they can't ignore the salary cap, which makes you wonder what kind of trades we'd see if there was no cap.

Prince is a great defensive player, but he's not in the class of Melo when it comes to offense. Besides, Prince is a "B" level star at best. And to clarify your Suns trade comment, yes Shaq did get traded to a good team but it messed up their team chemistry and got D'Antoni fired.

Oh yeah, it worked... I thought they were better with Marion.

Even if they'd kept Marion, I reckon there's a good chance that would have happened anyway unless they'd won it all. If a contender fails three or four years in a row these days, the coach is likely out of a job.
