Between this and trading all their young talent I would say the mavs are no longer contenders for the next couple of years.

Welcome back to the 1990's. So much for my sleeper pick to win it all; I doubt they will make the playoffs now.

It seemed to eb an injury to his ankle, because he wasn't clutching his knee, but below it. He shouldn't be out too long.

I thought it was his knee but I guess it is only his ankle. They said he could miss 2 weeks. Looks alot worse though.

yeah, i'd say it looks pretty bad, but if he didn't tear any knee ligaments, he might be lucky enough to walk away with a sprained ankle and maybe a sprained knee. 2 weeks like they say.

The game recap on Yahoo states that the Mavs have termed it a "lower left leg injury", so it wouldn't appear to be his knee. Whatever the actual fall, it was a nasty injury to watch.

I don't think you can necessarily rule out the Mavericks from the Playoffs at this point, even if they were to go .500 the rest of the way the Nuggets would have to go 9-3 to overtake them. That is doable though and the Mavericks are obviously at a disadvantage without their best player but they do have the advantage of being in the top eight right now, meaning they just have to maintain. The Nuggets still have to make up ground and they've got a couple of tough games on their schedule that might spare the Mavs from being overtaken.

And so, there goes the last fragments of the Mavs title hopes.

But all they need to do to sneak into the playoffs is have George Karl fag things up in Denver. Then they'll get cracked by Kobe :(

Now, i am tired of watching Dirk. Really lose hope of the Mavs now. But still a fan of them.

Happy Birthday, Ason Kidd!

The Mavs will be known as the team who gave up the 25 year old Devin Harris for the 35 year old Jason Kidd. Kidd is such a bad fit for that team; it's a team built for one-on-one, isolation basketball centered around Dirk Nowitzki. They're consistently at the bottom of the league in terms of assists, yet they still won games because of their superb isolation play. What a tragic turn of fortune...ever since they got shafted in the '05-'06 Finals, they've been a horrible disappointment.

Yeah, he is injured for God sake. Hope it is not major one. Ever since they got Kidd, it seems that they lost focus and they only rely on Dirk, now without him. What will they do?

what will my fantasy team do? I should just drop him since he's pretty much done for the last weeks of the fantasy season.

"Last season's MVP Dirk Nowitzki is out indefinitely after suffering a high ankle sprain and mildly sprained knee"

that sounds bad
he could be out for more than 2 weeks

The initial prognosis was certainly a lot more hopeful. It sounds like he won't be back in time for the first round, assuming of course the Mavericks are able to hold onto a spot in the top eight.

stfu  ok maybe the wallace drop was too premature. i guess i severely underestimated how many weeks were left in the season, but I think it's safe to drop Dirk at this point.

He's on my other NLSC fantasy team but I'm keeping him as I rarely use subs for that team anyway.

Malik Allen got the start in place of Dirk in the Mavs' win over the Clippers. I would have thought Bass would be the one getting the opportunity to start, he's had a decent year thus far.

Meanwhile, it's been suggested Dirk could be back sooner than expected. If the Mavs hold on and qualify for the Playoffs, perhaps he'll elect to give it a go even if he's not quite 100%.

If he does comeback, they are still on a tight position in which he should just rest and say that season is over for now so that his situation should not get worse.
