WOW, i haven't been on these forums, but i'm so excited i had to come back.

We gave up gooden and hughes, and other players who were old/sucked, and never had any chance to make it in cleveland.

Gooden has mental lapses, and can't play defense at all. Hughes played good in the past month and that's it.

West/Boobie/D. Jones
Wally/Sasha/D. Brown
Lebron/D. Brown
Wallace/Smith
Z/Varejao

Uhh, any one of those guys on the BENCH is a legitamite starter.

This trade gave cleveland everything they needed: An enforcer, A shooter, and a legitamite point guard (probably the best PG cleveland has seen since A. Miller), and Smith (who contributes a lot more than 12 ppg - with solid defense, smarts, and he's a good team mate)

Hughes is a good guy, people bash him, but before he left yesterday he sounded kind of upset. He went to the ronald mc donald charities (or something like that) - and he gave every family a $50 gift card to get a good dinner. After that, he got on his flight and went to chicago. I wish him well in chicago even though he sucked as a player in cleveland - i hope he does well, except against cleveland he can have 2 points per game and i'd be happy.

But, the cavs are serious contenders now

I see a mean look in that pic but I don't see any "sucking"....not sure if I want to either. However, I do see crushing!

Let's be serious now. Yes, the Cavs gained depth but none of those guys are starters anywhere in the league except for maybe Boobie, but only on teams with the most desperate of situations.

The Cavs took themselves from being the 3rd best team in the East to still the 3rd best team in the East. They will still make the second round and get knocked out by Detroit or Boston, which would have happened with or without this trade. They don't have to deal with Hughes contract anymore, but now they have Ben's.

I was very happy when the trade went down. This Chicago Bulls team is on the rise again, will make a strong playoff push and be a very scary team to face in the first round for one of the high seeds like Detroit or Cleveland.

Quick rundown on my thoughts about the move...

POSITIVES:

- Needed a post scorer, lost one in Joe and got one right back in Gooden.

- Moving Joe (great guy and teammate, sad to see him go) opens up time for Tyrus, Bulls really need to find out what they have in him.

- Aqcuiring Gooden does not set back Tyrus, because Gooden's lack of defensive ability means Tyrus will have to see minutes either starting or backing up Gooden.

- Larry Hughes' contract is up at the same time the great looking 2010 FA class rolls around... if we don't let him expire and use the cash to throw at LeBron, Wade or Bosh, we can move him to a team that will as an expiring. Teams would pay a fortune to clear some capspace for an offseason like that one.

- We rid ourselves of Ben Wallace, who is much like Larry Hughes in the way that he is vastly overpaid. Ben showed little interest at all this year and that equaled terrible play. I'm sorry to say it but Ben was arguably the worst defensive player starting for the Bulls this season. He has the ability to be very good defensively, he just didn't really seem to care. This seemed to rub off on the rest of the team.

- Moving Ben Wallace opens up minutes for the already more talented Joakim Noah. Joakim has been the better defender and rebounder all year... He's simply outplayed Ben. He's very well rounded and I think alot of people will be suprised when they see this kid play without being yanked in and out of the rotation.

- Larry Hughes adds a little bit of size to the backcourt. I don't want him getting alot of minutes, but his defence and size can help a bit.

- Shannon Brown and Cedric Simmons are very intriguing. I've been a big fan of Brown's fora long time now, but I doubt he get's his chance in Chicago with Thabo, Ben and Larry ahead of him, not to mention Kirk and Lu playing a little bit of two every now and then. Cedric Simmons seems like an athletic freak without much basketball skill... he was a lottery pick a couple of years ago so he's worth a look.

NEGATIVES:

- Larry Hughes, being a vet, could send Thabo back into the blackhole that is the Chicago Bulls bench. Boylan - Don't even think about it. Thabo brings everything to the table that Hughes brings, except he's younger and less likely to take rediculous shots. We know what we have in Hughes, we don't know exactly what we have in Thabo. Keep developing him.

- We had to give up Joe Smith. Joe has been arguably the best player on the team all year. I was sad to see him go, but I would take Tyrus' development over his presence at this point. He would of been handy come playoff time, but the playoffs weren't looking to great before this trade.

- Gooden and Hughes aren't great basketball players. Gooden brings a few things we needed, Hughes, not so much. However, this trade was addition by subtraction.

So yeah, not a whole lot of negatives from my point of view. Cav's fans, don't get too hyped about Ben. If he's motivated, great, he's a really nice piece to sit next to Z. If not, you have yourself a cancer.

Cav's fans will love Joe Smith. A true proffessional who's a very dependable option downlow, and has some great range for a big.

Again, I love the trade. It makes sense for both teams, but I think it improves the Bulls more than it improves the Cav's. Love it.

Only problem is that the Bulls are very stacked through the middle - SG/SF/PF. Some players are going to miss out, I really hope "entitlement minutes" are thrown out the window by Boylan. Here's how I'd like to see the rotation:

C - Joakim Noah [22] / Aaron Gray [10] / Tyrus Thomas [13] / Drew Gooden [3]
PF - Drew Gooden [15] / Tyrus Thomas [15] / Andres Nocioni [15] / Luol Deng [3]
SF - Luol Deng [28] / Andres Nocioni [7] / Thabo Sefolosha [13]
SG - Thabo Sefolosha [10] / Ben Gordon [25] / Larry Hughes [13]
PG - Kirk Hinrich [30] / Chris Duhon [10] / Ben Gordon [5] / Larry Hughes [3]

Minutes (Bold: Starter):

31 - Luol Deng
30 - Ben Gordon
30 - Kirk Hinrich
28 - Tyrus Thomas
23 - Thabo Sefolosha
22 - Andres Nocioni
22 - Joakim Noah
18 - Drew Gooden
16 - Larry Hughes
10 - Chris Duhon
10 - Aaron Gray

I am aware that Ben Wallace is having a bad season. But you should see that getting rid of Wallace and having Gooden and Hughes does not make the Bulls big of a threat.

And you're correct that they don't watch the NBA, they play in it.

Pistons better watch out too, all they did was beat the Suns by 30. Certainly not a twenty point victory over Memphis that was decided in the first quarter.

i still like the trade for the cavs. i really like the fact that the cavs got west, i have always liked that guy and i think he will be a great fit. also, sometimes making a trade, even if that trade does not make you look better on paper, is worth it just to mix things up.

Does that kind of loss speak more volume about detroit or the suns? I can't decide.
