All Star jerseys - what a horror!

Mon Feb 18, 2008 11:50 am

Whoever created the jerserys didn't use his brain...

West: front: white, back: gold
East: front: blue, back: white

When the East plays offense you see their white backs...and the white fronts of the Western players...all is white.
Hard to distinguish...

Horrible solution in my opinion. :(

I prefer the old way with each player wearing his usual team jersey.

When I saw them before the game started I wasn't sure what everyone was complaining about, I thought they looked alright. Then the game starts and it's terrible. I think I'm slowly adjusting to it but it's pissing me off all the same.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 11:54 am

I agree. I didn't like the All-Star jerseys last year, but these are awful.

Usual team jerseys are much more logical anyway.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:04 pm

Were there complaints before the game? Don't know.
I just saw them for the first time and was   :x (N)

They look alright, but its horrible to watch. I'm watching on a shitty qulity live stream, I have no clue when a steal or somethin like that is going to happen because all look the same.

Buzzy Check your pm.

Post the link please. I'm awake as it is.

They're interesting but the two-tone approach doesn't work me. If they'd simply had blue and gold uniforms or the West in a white jersey with blue and gold and the East in either a blue jersey with white and gold or a gold jersey with white and blue it would be alright. As it is, it's a bit disorientating.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:59 pm

Yes, they are absolutely horrible. I understand that the league wants to sell All-Star jerseys, but I've liked it so much better when the team jerseys are used.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 1:01 pm

The designs they had in the 80s and 90s weren't bad though. However, I must admit I liked the concept of the individual team jerseys too.

Iwas thinking the same thing as soon as they took off the warmups.. Not good at all.. :?

Same here - I actually stopped watching the game now - will have to wait for tomorrow for a copy in better resolution .

Or set the color of the shorts different with the jersey, like the Wizards gold jersey, rather than have 'two' different jerseys joined together as one.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 3:26 pm

That could work, though I'd prefer the more traditional approach.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 4:55 pm

I didn't like them either. The jerseys themselves were unique, but watching two teams play with opposite versions was confusing at times.

Mon Feb 18, 2008 5:07 pm

I kept losing track of players and kept thinking people were on the wrong teams while watching the game because of the jersey colour scheme. I think even Allen Iverson got confused by the jerseys because he was turning over the ball quite a lot at the beginning including one of his passes that looked like it was intentionally going to an East player.

Felt like there were 4 teams on the court at a time...

Mon Feb 18, 2008 5:42 pm

They're misleading at first but got used to it. The celebrity jerseys looked great though.

Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:23 am

I didnt like them at all, as im sure it was somewhat confusing for the players in the first few minutes. I would rather see them wear their own team jerseys. Its much easier to figure out who is who, and just looks better. But you know NBA is just trying to make more money with these new jerseys.

Tue Feb 19, 2008 6:16 am

why can't they go back to just wearing their own team's jerseys....not only would it be a way for the more casual fans to know who what team each player represents, but IMHO, it looks better....they do it for Rookie Game & all other festivities, why not the All-Star Game?

If they really want to make it unique, sew an All-Star badge on corner....

I'm a fan of the team jerseys if it's done right. this year's jerseys would not have been that bad if the East's backs were a dark color like maybe blue on the front but then on the back have the Mardi Gras indigo color of the Hornets instead of the white.

Tue Feb 19, 2008 11:02 am

The designs are bad, they could've made the East ones blue, having the back portion blue as well; and the West ones white, and the back portion white too.

I like the 2003 All-Star jerseys better than this one. I mean, this year's two-tone scheme is just bad.

I liked those too, mainly because they were a throwback to the designs of the 80s and 90s.

This year's all-star was a total let-down.

I'm from a european country, Turkey. I don't like watching FIBA games. Maybe FIBA is a competitive association, but the games are boring and there is no fluidity. Because FIBA rules are too strict. You cannot see many players dunk. Not because of they can't jump high, but because of a basic travelling rule.
On the other hand, i love watching NBA games. Because there are so many athletic players, large stadiums with beautiful atmosphere, and at least some elastic game rules.

I often watch NBA games standing against my sleep at 3 or 4 or 5 a.m. Because i love this game. It's often more important than my sleep.

I haven't missed any all-star events since 2000.
Until 2007, all-star events have been fantastic to watch.
Because there were:
- Shaq doing his off-court stuff
- VC doing amazing dunks and layups
- Baron Davis doing amazing spin moves, dunks and crossovers
.
.
.
.
And so forth.

But this year, there were no Shaq, no VC, no Baron.
There were
- Billups only shooting from behind the arc.
- Rip Hamilton hanging around like a ghost and the same thing for Joe Johnson.
.
.
.
And so forth.

When it comes to the jerseys, nothing to talk. I couldn't even seperate the West and the East.

Shame on you NBA. (N)

Shouldn't it be shame on the fans and coaches for not voting certain players into the game?
