How do you get to play with the old Lakers, Celtics and Bulls?

My friend have a look at the fact sheet for NBA Live 2004.
Unfortunately, classic teams won't be included in the game (directly from EA Sports that is....)I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to get a patch fixing this a couple of days after the release.

in order to have the classic teams, u have to buy espn nba basketball because nba live just teased us with that and they backed out at the last second

My understanding is that ESPN only has East and West versions of the decade teams, I haven't followed it that muct though. For the actual teams with full rosters there are quite a few people making...
...Oh thats right, there are no patch makers for ESPN, hell there aren't realy any for the console versions of Live either. Never mind.

No, I've read on an Operation Sports interview that ESPN has classic teams as unlockables. Sounds niiiice, but I'll most likely rent both games before I purchase one.

Not quite. EA made the mistake of announcing the inclusion of classic teams before it was certain they could include them. They did not do it on purpose to jerk us around.
