Kobe Bryant is defensive player of the year over Dwight Howard and Marcus Camby? lol.

yeah unfortunately there is no stat for lock-down defense. and Kobe's been doing that.
And your picks would be very much appreciated, thanks.

The same "lock-down defense" that allowed alot of the other stars in the NBA he was guarding this season to score at will? Want me to bring up stats and links to games? Cause you know i'm good at that.

So you think Kobe is a bad defender?
Wow, are box scores like The Holy Grail for you? WHo would you rather put in place of Kobe then? Bowen? Bell? Cause I'd put them there too.

I don't think he's a bad defender...but i wouldn't go so far as naming him DPOY. Don't let fandom cloud your judgement; I'll take camby over him. The rest of your candidates is pretty much what I'd pick

It's not fandom, If fandom was clouding my judgement then I'd give DPOY to KG, he's my favorite player. I think Kobe deserved it this year because I felt he got 1st team last year more of by reputation,. This year I think he really deserved it. Take their game against Memphis, how he defended Mike Miller.
Miller scores 13 in the first quarter. 2nd quarter he drained some 3s in the first 3 minutes when Kobe is taking a rest and then Kobe then comes out and plays air tight defense on him. The rest of the 2nd Miller is held scoreless, having trouble even catching the ball. 2nd quarter Miller plays 12 minutes and Kobe 11. Kobe holds him scoreless, and he doesn't score after Kobe sits down either. During the span in the 2nd and 3rd when Kobe tightened up, Miller was able to take 2 fg attempts, and he missed them both. 4th qtr when Kobe is taking a rest he starts heating up again. Had 4 points. Kobe comes back, and Miller gets a point off a technical free throw. Kobe sags a bit off him and Miller drains another 3 from way downtown to remind Kobe how hot he is. During the last 3 minutes, Kobe didn't let Miller get a shot off.

At this point he's certainly the MVP but a couple of good defensive performances against streak people like Mike Miller don't qualify you as DPOY. Gimmie a break.
He sure did some lock-down D on people he guarded just last month alone like iverson when he got 51 on him. Crawford had 31 on him and peirce scored 33 on him. Guys who are also streaky and just so happen to burst out when kobe guards them. That's just to name a few players his lock-down defense did a fine job on....if you need me to...i can go on.
I gotta say though, I sure enjoy making you look this way...

I assume Duncan will finally win Defensive Player of the Year, simply because the Spurs have fallen to fourth in the league, and the media has no clue what it is doing.

Whatever lets you sleep at night, and for the record, If the Cavs had a better record,I'd put LeBron at MVP hands down.
Opinion: a person's ideas and thoughts towards something. It is an assessment, judgment or evaluation of something. An opinion is not a fact, because opinions are either not falsifiable, or the opinion has not been proven or verified.
See people don't always agree with the awards given. But that's what the voters decide on, it won't be changed or overturned just because a bunch of people disagree, that's my only issue with you. other than that, I respect your NBA knowledge(And I said this on my first post in your thread too). You've been around to watch NBA games longer than I have so I'm in no position whatsoever to question your thoughts however I made this thread for people to share their own thoughts. So please lay off if all you're gonna do here is disrespect them.

..yep...and a fine job they have done with the mvp awards the past 3 seasons. In the same regard...I expect nash to win mvp yet again. That would put him in the same league as people like russel, wilt and micheal jordan...he deserves it.

about the lock-down D of kobe, i guess it's one of the best or THE BEST, i think if only he didn't have to score that much (like in the USA team) he'll be the DPOY, but now? he is too busy scoring and setting up teammates so he gets tired if he also defends like bowen. if you've seen what kobe can do to a player during the Olympic qualifiers i guess you'll be impressed of what can kobe do defensively.
glad to see BIG GREEN and tommi agree with each other...

i almost see you in every post arguing
