A free agent Brand could return to Bulls

Postby rl564411 on Thu Nov 08, 2007 5:15 pm

" The Chicago Tribune suggested it's time to try to rectify probably the biggest personnel mistake in Chicago Bulls history: Go get Elton Brand back.

Brand, the Los Angeles Clippers forward, can become a free agent after this season, and is really what the Bulls need, an inside scorer and a career 20-and-10 player whom you might be able to get without gutting your team.

With Ben Gordon, Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah and Andres Nocioni, the Bulls have some young players who might interest the Clippers, and they wouldn't have to give up all of them. "

I dont know if the Bulls would want to use their whole MLE on Brand though... do they have the BAE to use this coming offseason? That might be more adequate for Brand.

I believe the idea is a sign and trade. If you read the article instead of jumping to conclusions, you might have known that.

But I agree that it is quite unlikely, and pretty pointless to speculate about at this point.

OMG no way, I was under the impression Brand would leave his contract behind for the MLE!

WTF? Dude, I actually said I agree with your implications, but you pretty obviously didn't even read it. So, ummm....WTF?

I can't feel sorry for the Bulls, they don't deserve a low post scorer....first, they trade away a career 20-10 guy in Brand for Tyson Chandler, who they end up developing & trade away just when he starts to become effective....then they draft LaMarcus Aldridge & then trade him away....Chicago, we do not feel sorry for you....

Admittedly I'm not exactly an unbiased observer when it comes to the Bulls, but what kind of ridiculous notion is that? Because a former executive makes a terrible move (Brand for Chandler) and his successor makes a move that could possibly come back to haunt them (Aldridge for Thomas), they "don't deserve" a post scorer? If so, then one could just as easily say that the Boston Celtics don't deserve to have their new big three because they've made a lot of bad moves in the 21 years since their last championship.

As far as Brand returning to the Bulls I'm not holding my breath on that one, whether it's via trade or free agency. At this stage I'm inclined to think he'll remain a Clipper for a while yet.

it's not that they don't deserve a low post scorer, I guess I was just kind of sick of hearing about the Bulls not having one for the last couple of seasons, when IMHO that they have had ample opportunities to fill those needs, but instead went in different directions....but that is fine though....for example, Tyrus Thomas is showing that he'll be a great player & the Bulls probably will be happy they made that trade, but it just means the team will go into a different direction & a have a different makeup....
