Kirilenko's name mentioned in trade rumors

Salt Lake City, Utah - With the beginning of the season fast approaching, there are rumors that the Jazz plan to move Forward Andrei Kirilenko before the season opener against the Warriors. Kirilenko, 26, was a 2004 All-Star and is a constant Defensive Player of the Year contender. Last season however, his play had a sharp decline. Kirilenko averaged just 8.3 Points, 4.9 Rebounds and 2.9 Assists in his 2006-07 campaign.

ImageKirilenko, 26 may be being shopped to Phoenix, LA, Chicago, or Memphis.

New GM Liam Washburn has hinted at making a trade for a starting shooting guard. With Matt Harpring being more than capable of starting, and Ronnie Brewer looking at some minutes at the 3, a Kirilenko trade seems very likely. The Suns, Lakers, Bulls and Grizzlies, among others have shown interest in the Russian swingman. Only time will tell if these rumors mean anything.

Sorry for the subpar article, these will improve. Thanks to Pursuer, snarky and Sit for the praise! Your guys' dynasties have really influenced mine.

this looks great man (Y) if AK's still got decent trade value in '08, i'd go after Joe Johnson - complete package there; JJ, boozer, d-will? brrrr they'd be nasty

or maybe J-Rich and beat the sh!t outta GSWs with their own ex-superstar; now that's some twisted drama

Is the suspense killing you? I wanted to go realistic with this trade by not trading Kirilenko for some superstar, so I went with this trade. At least it keeps the tradition of white people playing for Utah.

Kirilenko traded to Memphis in 6 Player Deal

Salt Lake City, Utah - Looks like the rumors were true. There are reports of a deal that went down today of the Utah Jazz sending 26-year-old one-time All-star Andrei Kirilenko, along with Center Jarron Collins, and Guard Gordan Giricek, to the Memphis Grizzlies. In return, they receive 2001 Rookie of the Year, and 2006 Sixth Man of the Year sharpshooting swingman Mike Miller, reserve Point Guard Damon Stoudamire and F-C Stromile Swift.

This trade has come to a surprise for many, but most have been happy about it.
"Its great to get to play for a winning team again. Also, in Memphis, I would've had to divide my playing time between three players, so I'm very happy about this deal. Its a new beginning for me.", says Guard Damon Stoudamire. On the other side, Forward Pau Gasol is also very content with the deal."It hurts to lose Damon and Mike, but Andrei (Kirilenko) will be huge for us. Also, (Gordan) Giricek and (Jarron) Collins will be very useful role players off the bench. This team is winning a playoff game this year."

When all is said and done, the trade looks quite even. On paper, you could argue that the Jazz got the better deal, but if Kirilenko blows up this year, like we know he is capable of, that may not be the case. Only Miller and Kirilenko are expected starting jobs, at the 2 and 3 respectively. The season opener against Golden State is in six days.

Hm.. I like it, Miller is a great 3-point shooter, I remmeber last year against the Warriors he had a 45 points game and made like 9 3's.. and he was unstoppable.. wow that was a great game.. ok I'm getting off topic now... lol

Dang. I really like AK47. Miller is pretty good, though. Memphis should be a force now, with a potential starting 5 of Gasol, Milicic, AK, Gay, and Conley.

Since I assume you're now low on wing depth, I'd look into playing Swift at the 3 from time to time. Obviously it won't always be possible due to matchups, but when defending the 3 isn't a big concern Swift could give you a serious height advantage and create some nice mismatches when playing SF. Especially since you'll still be able to have Okur, Miller, and Williams on the floor for outside shooting.

Good luck.

Nice trade. I like Memphis now actually!

C: Darko
PF: Pau
SF: AK47/Gay
SG: Navarro
PG: Conley

Or something like that... Mike Miller definitely helps the Jazz more than Kirilenko does. :D Good trade.

Jazz Sign highflying swingman James White

Salt Lake City, Utah - Just days after the blockbuster trade featuring Andrei Kirilenko and Mike Miller, The Jazz have made yet another roster move. Highflying swingman James White has signed with the Utah Jazz to the league minimum. White, 25, is famous for his huge dunks. Last season had its ups and downs for white. It started with being waived from the Pacers and being sent to the D-League, to being signed as a reserve for the eventual champion Spurs, only to not play at all during the playoffs. Jazz GM Liam Washburn had the following to say on the signing: "In what is the final roster move for us in the pre-season, I have signed James White, who can be a very valuable reserve swingman, and a guy that can sell some tickets."

Image

White will likely battle Morris Almond and Ronnie Brewer for time backing up at the 2 and 3.With the season opening in just five days, it is unknown if White will be cleared to play in time for the season opener versus Golden State.

Thanks. I always wanted to sign him, and I wanted another swingman. The most rewarding deals are the small ones.

I'm going to start playing in about a week or so. I'm still preparing it, with sliders, rosters and all. I'm editing a lot of players since some of the ratings are just awful (Larry Hughes OVR 80 is the worst).

Be on the lookout for the next update, which is a full-on season preview.

Yea I had to do a lot of preparation with my dynasty too, although I probably didn't get the ratings down quite right....

Not exactly need, but we could use some defense at the 2 and 3 positions, and its nice to have an NLSC-favorite, and a dunk contest guy.

For those who read my short-lived Warriors Association, White is this dynasty's Wagner.
