Also what about play animations? Do they actually show you how to run the play or do they just show a diagram of the starting positions?
I would think if our modders can create a new aiact file that alot of these gameplay issues could be corrected or minizied, do you think so?

So all you did was install the game, take the screenshots and uninstall the game... That's about all you can do in 30 minutes of playing this game.

Early on in the game I played yesterday, the game was sort of easy... Scoring was abundant etc. But the defense really kicked in the second half. 30 minutes play time, did you even get to the end of a game?

I was mostly disappointed by the fact that the dynasty updates that are on the next gen are not there on the PC side. At least most of them are not. This was something that should have been updated to the PC side since PC can easily handle any UI made for any console... And waaaaay better.

Is EA really trying?? I think the lack of competition in PC basketball games is the main reason for the lack of work you can tell in latest NBA Live games for PC.

The saddest thing is it's not just a PC problem. Even in next gen consoles (I have an XBOX 360) NBA Live is miles away of what you would expect for a next generation game. Even though NBA Live 08 is better than NBA Live 07 it's still crap. I used to be a fan of the NBA Live series but lately I found myself having tons of fun playing NBA 2k series in my XBOX 360.

In terms of gameplay it's like comparing Winning Eleven and FIFA series. FIFA doesn't stand a chance. EA is not doing their jobs properly and as we keep on buying their crappy games and making them playable by modding (which would mean "making the work they should have") this won't change.

Those details don't make or break the game for me as I'm more interested in how the game plays rather than the aesthetics, but to each their own. I believe the PS2 versions of the 2K series features team mascots though.

EA can do what they want because they are alone in the market,

i'll play the game cuz i love basketball, NLSC patchers will fix something and still, it will be the only basketball game that we can play on PC.

You can't change anything till next year;) sad but true.

I wish more PC NBA basketball games from different companies around in the future, and problems will be resolved.

The most thing I hate is, that they still cant get the courts right. The midcourt logo is there in the 3pt area, instead of the alternete Spurs logo. Yes, you can patch that, but come on, you can't do this and sell such a game.
They brag with international teams but can't get the easiest things right.

Not being like all the other people here I would say that I'm not so dissapointed by the game. Maybe that's just because I wasn't waiting for something special. The game runs more fluently than last year. Substitutions are there. Fatigue works. Default gameplay sliders are tragical, so that could be a thing that creates a bad image of the game from the start. I spent around 30min tweaking here and there and now I have satisfying results. I will stay with this game. It's ok.
My recommendations: gamespeed down to ~35, drastical(I mean 90-98) increase to physical on-ball defense for both, CPU and player, so no more easy runs for the basket. Decrease CPU off rebounding to ~3, decrease steal/intercept/block abilities for both, CPU and Player. Decrease CPU shooting percentage. If you like injuries in Dynasty(like I do, it's more realistical). I think increasing injury frequency to 60-70 would make a difference, as in default settings it's only 10.
The first few things I saw when launched:
Backdown system.. OMG, it's really cool, I love it, just get close to the basket, press backdown button, and you're in the backdown mode, nice shots made from here. Physics are pretty normal here, PG won't push PF.
The game runs much more fluently, there is really some improvemets, nicer movements of your players(althought the skating on the court remains), collisions.
There are some new animations. Yeah, not much, but whatever. Don't expect too much and you will be happy.
SUBSTITUTIONS AND FATIGUE TWO IN ONE! LOL

BTW.: To see hotspots, push and hold spin/crossover, dunno why, but I think hotspots don't work in practise mode.

BTW2.: I think this year, our patchers has much better material for their work than last year, we will have a decent game after all the patches.

I think the worst nba ive of all time is NBA LIVE 08 for pc..I watch trailers and gameplay videos NBA LIVE 08 ON XBOX 360 AND PS3.Game is amazing.animations and gameplay are so good.I wish this game now.But only a have now is crap of game.When we have game like have on xbox and ps3 i buy game.BEST NBA LIVES FOR PC IS F0R ME NBA LIVE 2003 WITH PATCHES AND LIVE 06

The 08 patched with maybe a new cam, sweet, jerseys, hi-res update - is gonna be a bit better than 07, but still not what I expected from this game

LAst year it was worth but this year its a disaster, there is no Smooth gameplay possible because when i do Fastbreaks, the Player who catch the ball always stand still for a sec it is not posssible to catch the ball wihle running.
I will uninstall it right now.

Have you tried Dynasty mode yet? The initial draft is a joke. Josh McRoberts is the top rated prospect, Oden went around #5 and Durant #15. With Chicago, I managed to get Al Horford at #9. You also only have an option to select 3 players, so if they're not in the list, you seem to be screwed!

I'm almost tempted to reinstall 07 and just play with that.

I'm planning to buy a XBOX360 Core Version (probably used) on Ebay and Nba 2k8!

I'll enjoy that game on a Samsung SyncMaster 245B.. 24'' and 1900*1200..

Well I'm about to buy the Viewsonic 28" monitor, it even has HDMI input so the new XBOX Elite is looking mighty tempting. But after the console purchase and the game, it's looking close to $1000.

Have someone tried the online mod? NBA live 07 online was awful before a patch was released to allow to change the gameplay settings for the online game. Some improvements there??

The thing that really pisses me off even more, is that you can't change the season length in Dynasty mode. 80+ games is just too much. After half of the season you get bored with NBA Live and don't play anyway. 20something games is really nice, but you can only change the length in Season mode. Hate that
