Champion: Phoenix Suns
I think they break through this year.
East: Boston Celtics
This is going to work. The Celtics and Bulls are the 2 best teams in the East, but the Celtics have enough firepower to score on the Bulls defense.
West: Phoenix Suns
MVP: LeBron James
His supporting cast will be significantly worse if they fail to re-sign Varejao and Pavlovic, but they will have similar success. This is the first of many.
ROY: Kevin Durant
Only competition is Al Horford, but Kevin is going to be Seattle's number 1 scorer from day one.
Most Improved: Rashad McCants
Especially if the Wolves trade Ricky Davis at some point.
DPOY: Jermaine O'Neal
Hopefully he finally gets his due. We'll be a far better defensive team with Dick Harter and JO will finally get recognized.
Sixth Man: David Lee
As long as he isn't going to start for Eddy Curry.
COY: Jim O'Brien
This one I'm almost certain of. It is amazing that the perception of the Pacers right now is so terrible. The stage is set for Jim O'Brien to lead this team to a 4 or 5 spot in the playoffs and it to seem like a huge surprise. That's the type of team that's coach wins COTY. Not teams that were expected to be good and are.

The LaMarcus for MIP picks are very odd. I don't understand why so many people think that the natural progression for him will be good enough to win MIP. He has absolutely no chance. He would have to go for 22+/11+ to even be in the conversation.

Forgot sixth man. My pick would be Andres Nocioni.

Sixth Man: David Lee
As long as he isn't going to start for Eddy Curry.

I think I remember reading that he'll start at SF.

Why 22/11 just to be considered? That's a 13 PPG and 6 RPG improvement. Far better than Al Jefferson's 8 PPG/6 RPG improvement, Kevin Martin's 10 PPG/1 APG improvement and Monta Ellis' 10 PPG/2 RPG improvement last year. I don't see how he has to surpass those improvements by so much just to be considered.

Rashad McCant's would need to average 18+ points and 7 boards a game to match LaMarcus if he was to average 22/11, statistically speaking (which is what matters when the MIP votes start rolling in). I love Rashad, but I really don't see it happening at all.

I'd say LaMarcus gives Portland 16-18 points, 8-9 boards and 2 blocks a game this season.

Not pinning my hopes on them to finish 3rd but that's what's fun with predictions. I think that they have what it takes to win their division as I am thinking that Utah will stumble a bit,

I get the Nuggets finishing higher than the Jazz (even though I don't think that will happen), but I can't fathom that you expect the Nuggets to win more games than the Mavs for the #3 seed :o

Aldridge was putting up huge numbers towards the end of the season. This last year, I had pegged Deron Williams as MIP, but his performance towards the end of the 2006 season prevented him from winning it. I can see that happening to LaMarcus.

My prediction for most disappointed NLSC member: Indy, but I'm one of those people with the amazing perception.

Wow; Indiana at #4? I see the Pacers right now on the same level as the Kings to be honest. I don't see Jim O'Brien winning COY, or them even coming close to the playoffs. There are so many far superior teams even in the East now.

I hate PJ Carlesimo, but if the Sonics' surprisingly deep side makes the playoffs... :P

4 is probably high. But it isn't nearly as out of reach as you all think.

You will be surprised. None of you have any idea what this team will be like. I don't either, but I have a pretty good idea.

Jim O'Brien has a history of getting the maximum out of what he has. And let me tell you something, you are going to see a brand new Jamaal Tinsley. This will be like his rookie year all over again.

Spo do I. 60 games from O'Neal and Tinsley, Marquis Daniels as starting SG, Travis Diener, Andre Owens, and Kareem Rush off the bench, Bumleavy and Horse, and Jeff Foster! This looks like a playoff team to you? Really? The only bright spot on the roster is Danny Granger, and I'm not at all sold on him being the next Shawn Marion.

you are going to see a brand new Jamaal Tinsley. This will be like his rookie year all over again.

Problem is, you'll be lucky to see him in 60 games. And even if he's as good as he was then and plays all season, it still might not be enough to push Indiana into the playoffs..

You think of Jamaal as an injury ridden player, but that's because before last year he would fake injuries, or just refuse to play. That's how unhappy he was playing for Rick Carlisle. Thing is though, is that Jamaal loves Indianapolis and loves playing with Jermaine. The team told him he had to stop fucking around and play through the season or he'd be gone. He played 72 games, Rick is gone and Tinsley is still here. Coincidence? No. Now that Rick is gone, look for him to play 75 or more.

Champs: Dallas Mavericks (Finals MVP: Jason Terry !! (Dirk will be guarded very well but Terry will explode))
East: Cavaliers
West: Suns
MVP: LeBron James
ROY: Yi Jianlian
MIP: Tyrus Thomas/LaMarcus Aldridge
DPoY: Gerald Wallace
Coach: Doc Rivers

Some Facts:

- Kevin Martin will be a top 10 scorer at least (25 ppg)
- Luol Deng, Eddy Curry will turn into All Stars.
- Yi Jianlian will have a bigger impact Yao had when he entered the league.
- The Knicks will make the Playoffs.
- LeBron will be the MVP without any doubt (Cavs at one in the East, James with awesome stats)
- Kevin Durant will struggle due his lack of mass and strenght.

That would bag him the MIP honors if so.

There is something wrong with that prediction. Mavs being champs while phoenix western champs, I don't get it at all.
