Michael Jordan

Postby CHHAMP on Thu Oct 02, 2003 11:57 am

Michael Jordan said in an interview Wednesday that he'd love to play with Scottie Pippen again and that THOUGH IT ISN'T LIKELY HE'LL COME BACK, he will probably have something to do with the organisation.

Having paid close attention to previous comebacks, when Michael Jordan doesn't rule something out, it is a done deal. To say it ISN'T LIKELY is a way of saying, 'I'm definitely coming back but if I come out and say it right now I might look silly so I'll just work away at it until ISN'T LIKELY becomes POSSIBLE and then NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION and then LIKELY etc.'

See, that interview is the opening day of the 'hinting period'. The hints will get deeper and deeper.....then a Rick Reilly article deeming the comeback a done deal.....then some training sessions.....then I'M BACK.

where did you hear this? do u have the link? man..... if he DOES come back, then's he making a fool out of himself. when he retired for the third time, he clearly said he's 100% (not 99.999%) sure he's not coming back. so.... i highly doubt the validity of another jordan comeback story.

It'd be good for like the media (Jordan/Pippen back with the Bulls) but I think the Bulls should be looking to the future not bringing back Jordan. Now don't get me wrong I love Jordan as much as the next guy but it's time for him to call it quits.

Much as I'd like to see MJ end his career in a Bulls jersey, I don't think there'll be any more comebacks. He hasn't handed in his retirement papers as far as I've heard, but I still think this is the end. Before last season, he never indicated he planned to retire as early as he did (November or December 2002, I believe). He always hinted at playing the next season, basically keeping us guessing throughout the year.

Uh.. I don't want him coming back another season. He made too much hype of retiring that if he returns, we're all going to be "Damn.. when is this guy going to call it quits?".

If he wants to do something inspirational, he could sign a 10-day deal with the Bulls and play his last game in the arena with Pippen. (Y)

like Champ said, it's a done deal... Mike's not going to let Scottie come back and get all the glory!! Pip needs a shadow, and MJ can provide it for him :D

Curry - Dominant centre
Chandler - Athletic shot blocker
Pippen - Defensive specialist
Jordan - Goat
Crawford - Rising star (the new BJ as Matthew pointed out!)
-----------------------
Jalen Rose - 6th Man of the century :D
Donyell Marshall - Mr Consistency
Kirk Hinrich - Rookie version of Johnny Pax!
Marcus Fizer - Mr. Spark
Kendall Gill - MJ's backup
Corie Blount - Curry's backup.
Eddie Robinson - Mr. Run and gun.
----------------------
Hassell
Baxter
Roger Mason Jr.
Jay Will.

You could have so many line-up variations with this team it's scary! :P

the bulls dont have anything to gain in bringing back Jordan other than filling more seats and with the current bulls roster + the addition of Pippen i think every seat will be taken anyway. I would love to Jordan give it one last shot but id rather see the development of the new bulls.

Yeah! Saw Pip in a Bulls "33" and I was thinkin' "Man...Isn't tat a bit old??"

Anyway- It would be great for MJ to come back...but not likely- also because he'd probably become some kind of ticket-selling advertisement on the court if he DID come back...I think the Bulls want to keep working with their young team so I don't see MJ coming back...but maybe he could become some assistant coach! That'd be good...I think...

But I can always just see this....

"Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are back in the NBA Finals- playing against the Los Angeles Lakers...LA has had a very shaky season with Kobe Bryant just missing a jail sentence. Next came Malone and Payton's fight on the court which started when Malone was outplayed by Mark Madsen and Payton decided to talk up Malone...and they started a biff! Taht's wat i call team spirit-I have lots of it! Oh yeah, remember when Shaq had that heart attack on court? That was fun-I mean horrible! I told him not to have so many burgers at Burger King!

Well anyway back to the game! Chicago and Los Angeles are both tied up 3-3 in this Finals Series and of course...this is the greatest upset of the Season! The Lakers were tipped to be the Best team in History but there plans were swept aside by the Bulls, who somehow made the playoffs! Michael Jordan immediately returned to join Pippen in another Championship run!

MJ and Pips are tipped to lose this game but hey...there's always hope!"

An hour later...."With 12 seconds left Los Angeles is winning by three points! Chicago with the ball at the top of the arc! Pippen recieves the pass from MJ...he is gaurded by Kobe...8 seconds left and Pippen shoots over Kobe from behind the three point line...and it's IN! All tied up here at Staples centre and what's this? A streaker has come on court and leads Kobe away! INCREDIBLE! Oh-wat's this? Looks like Jack Nicholson and Gary Payton are arguing with each other...and they've taken it outside! Looks like Phil's team is dissapearing! Wat's wrong with Shaq there? He's having a spasm on-court! Dude!

Back to the game...Malone, Medvedenko, Fox, Rush and Pargo are on the floor...Lakers have the ball- Malone dribbles down court and he jumps and dunks it...he holds on to the rim! While all his team-mates are celebrating! Wait a sec...what are they celebrating about?! You idiot Malone...you didn't dunk with the ball- MJ stole it off you at half-court, you Dumb-ass! Three seconds left and Jordan dunks from the free-throw line and MJ "steals" another championship from Malone!"

I guess that was stupid but one can only dream!

I sure as hell wouldnt mind MJ coming back, the man has charisma and tons of it, both on and off the court (Y). But, I doubt he'll be coming back, but if he does (since everything is possible with MJ) I for one, wouldnt mind (Y).

You can't throw a pass out of bounds at Bulls training camp without hitting a principal from the dynasty days, and the biggest of the big casually dropped by the Berto Center on Saturday.

Michael Jordan's entrance was loud and grand, his fancy sports car taking up space in a no parking zone directly in front of the building.

But Jordan's exit was quiet and uneventful, his words quelling even playful queries about a possible comeback.

"I was just here to see Pax and Pip," Jordan said.

Jordan acted on general manager John Paxson's open invitation to visit the practice facility, which is just miles away from Jordan's residence.

In a figurative sense, that distance measured far greater over the last few years, as Jordan aligned himself with Washington's franchise in the fallout from the Bulls' sixth and final championship season.

From last summer's free-agent pursuit of Scottie Pippen to his consistent communication with Jordan, Paxson has made clear he wants to build a bridge to the dynasty days. If that erases the perception of an acrimonious breakup of the dynasty, then all the better.

"The history of our franchise is important, especially the guys like Michael, who meant everything to all of us," Paxson said. "Michael had a lot to do, personally, with my career being 11 years. And you can go down the line with guys. He was great with all of us. It's important that people like that know they're welcome back here."

Paxson made casual overtures to Jordan last summer when Washington owner Abe Pollin ended Jordan's association with the Wizards. At the time, Jordan had ideas to buy the Milwaukee Bucks as well as an open offer from owner Robert Johnson to work for the expansion Charlotte Bobcats.

Neither scenario came to fruition. But Paxson knows Jordan will have other opportunities; a recent report had him contemplating buying the Nets.

"Right now, I'm sure he'll be patient to see what's out there," Paxson said. "Don't read anything into this. More than anything, I want him to feel free to pop his head in here whenever he wants. I think it would be great for all of us. He built the place after all."

Training camps are about building for the future, but the Bulls don't have a bad past with which to be associated. If Jordan shows his support by hanging out in the training room with young players, as he did Saturday, Pippen thinks that's great.

"Pax has made things very comfortable here," Pippen said. "You don't feel like you're alienated just because you left this team a few years ago. You're still a part of this family."

That family includes five mainstays from the dynasty — Paxson, Pippen, coach Bill Cartwright, special assistant B.J. Armstrong and assistant coach Johnny Bach. Jordan's visit marked his first public spotting at Berto since a one-on-one game against Corey Benjamin in November 1999.

"Those are guys you see on the banners and on 'Classic Sports,'" Jamal Crawford said. "I hope [Jordan] comes around more, because guys were fired up."

Cartwright joked that Jordan turned down his invitation to make another comeback. Pippen cracked wise that he would have to get Jordan on the court "so he doesn't get fat on us."

Layups: Jalen Rose sprained his right thumb Saturday and will be re-evaluated Sunday. … Cartwright isn't sure if Eddy Curry's hamstring will be healed in time for Wednesday's exhibition opener against Indiana. … Kirk Hinrich missed his sister's wedding because of double sessions.

Damn... Kirk Hinrich has some comittment!

As for MJ, though he visited, the whole thing seems too lighthearted to mean anything more than just a visit, but it's fun to fantasize!
