nba.com/hawks wrote:ATLANTA, GA (September 30, 2003) ----- Atlanta Hawks General Manager Billy Knight announced today that the club has signed free agent forward Lee Nailon to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.
A three-year NBA veteran, Nailon has spent time with the then-Charlotte Hornets (2000-01 and 2001-02) and New York Knicks (last season). With the Knicks last season, Nailon appeared in 38 contests, averaging 5.5 ppg and 1.8 rpg, logging 10.7 mpg. In 2001-02, he was a solid offensive contributor for the Hornets, as he averaged 10.8 ppg and 3.7 rpg (.483 FG%, .747 FT%). In 41 games as a starter, he tallied 15.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg.

As a rookie in 2000-01, Nailon finished with 3.9 ppg and 2.2 rpg in 42 games. He hit .485 FG% and .744 FT%. He spent time with Adecco Milano in the Italian A-1 league in 1999-2000, starting 18 games and putting forth a team-best 18.2 ppg and 4.4 rpg.

He was originally selected by the Hornets in the second round (43rd pick overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft, and signed with the Hornets on 8/18/00.

Great move by the Hawks (Y) i hope that Nailon gets the starting job :P

I hope he gets playing time, he showed in Charlotte that he is a player with talent, but the Knicks just benched him to much

Great for Atlanta that they now have a clear small forward. Before it
was a big ? for to see who they would let play on the sf position.

C Ratliff
PF Rahim
SF Nailon
SG Terry
PG Brandon

I doubt he'll ever play again. He was a decent player but injuries are unlucky. He's just with the Hawks to clear cap space near the end of the season.

A decent player? I don't think so. He was one of the best point guards in the NBA. I remember SI even did a cover story on why Brandon was the best point guard in the NBA. I'd say he was a very good player when he was completly healthy (mostly in the late 90's) and could have been mentioned in the same breath as Gary Payton and Tim Hardaway had he never gotten hurt.

The Hawks basically just traded for his contract, which will give them some cap relief when it expires. Unless the Hawks feel Dickau is ready to be a starter and Terry makes the move to shooting guard, I expect Terry will remain the starting point guard.

As a Knicks fan iam clad to see Lee Nailon going to a team that can really use him, not that the knicks couldnt use him coz he proved early in the season when spree was out that he has what it takes to be a starter.

my hawks lineup...

C - Theo Ratliff
PF - Shareef Abdur-Rahim
SF - Lee Nailon
SG - Jason Terry
PG - Jacque Vaughn

other hawks news... Atlanta signs Smush Parker from the cavs.

C - Ratliff
PF - Reef
SF - Nailon
SG - Jackson
PG - Terry

C-Ratliff
PF-Reef
SF-Jackson
SG-Glover

It's a projected starting line-up, its not definitive, there are tons of projected starting line-ups.

Just because it's projected that way, doesnt mean it will be that way (Y).
