Official patch from easports.com doesn't work

i need this patch to play nba live 2004 with custom art enabled (yeah, you may know that already). but i can't figure out why i can't install it. i suppose this patch is the correct one: http://www.easports.com/games/nbalive2004/patches.jsp
i tried to download and install it manually and i tried the patch integrated into the website. when i execute the NBA2004PATCH.EXE, it says:

"Old file not found. However a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match."

i did not install nba live into c:\program files\ea sports\nba live 2004, but that should not be a problem.
can anybody help me? btw it's a german version of nba live....

Buy legal version

Check out this directory on EA's FTP server. That should be the file you need for the German version of the game.

Thank You very much Andrew! This file works pefectly. I wonder why it is only half as big as the one I downloaded from the page, but at least there was no error.

No worries. The file size does tend to vary for the alternative language versions, I'd say that the auto-update function was trying to retrieve the wrong version of the patch.

you get a used version of live04 on amazon.com for $0.01 + shipping. why the fuck do you have an illegal version?!

by the way, can someone send me everything from Program Files/NBA Live 2004. J/K Andrew!!!!

Ei I also had a problem regarding that issue likewise with jazzy jeff...,what if the cd i used to install nba 04 was a pirated cd or what if i just downloaded 8 from a torrent?,Would 8 be ok,or would 8 crash?

If you're using a pirated copy then the official patch won't work. Also, just to give you a heads up, discussions about illegal versions are strictly against Forum rules.
