Now, to me this is absurd. While it may not be the best name for a shoe with all the problem with weapons, there were no qualms with Nike's Battleground line (which has to do with streetball, which, if used in the same context as the problem with the 'Loaded Weapon,' is referring to the battleground of the inner city, thus glorifying gang violence), there were no qualms with other shoes of similar names (Paul Pierce's 'Weapon'), or Kirilinko's nickname, AK-47...

If they're bashing and talking about banning a shoe for a name like Loaded Weapon, they might as well take the Nike Shox Supremacy off the market for catering to bigots...

People are a little too sensitive about things such as this. Granted, "Loaded Weapon" isn't a great choice for a shoe name and is perhaps a little insensitive given the problem of gun violence, but it shows just how much time people have on their hands when they can campaign to have a shoe banned because they don't like the name.

Dr. Leonard Moore, a professor of history and director of African-American studies at Louisiana State University, thinks Converse made a bad mistake.

"It's problematic when you look at the level of violence in the African-American community," he said. "To try and capitalize on misery and fratricide is reprehensible.

"I think it would be wise for them to go back to the drawing board on this one."

Trying to "capitalize on misery and fratricide"? I thought Converse was just trying to think up a cool name for a new product, and came up with one that was (in some respects) a poor choice. But apparently they're promoting gun violence and making money off other people's misery.

Depends on whether the shoe would be called 9/11 or 911 though. 911 could refer to the US emergency telephone number. While that may still be considered poor taste (or at the very least, a stupid name for a basketball shoe), it wouldn't be as insensitive as 9/11, referencing the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Didn't Nike, years ago have a shoe with the word "Force" in it?

I hear Grant Hill's comming out with a new shoe called "Grounded", specially designed shoes which don't get worn out, or start smelling from sweat. These shoes are not really designed to be worn though.

Several other players are comming together to create a new shoe with pockets, for easy storage of all kinds of Drugs. Lamar Odom leads the team of players, who are creating the shoe with side pockets, and an extra secret storage. Players used to rub the soles of their shoes with their hands for "grip" apparently, but really they would sprinkle a little white dust down there before games, allowing them to take a sniff and achieve the ultimate air time - real high! Great stuff!

Vin Baker and Shawn Kemp are also combining their efforts to create a shoe called "The Comeback". I thought MJ had this copyrighted already for when he suits up for the Nets this year, but apparently the title was up for grabs...
