Nets React; Sign Magloire

Free agent forward/center Jamaal Magloire last night agreed to a one-year deal with the Nets shortly after Mikki Moore, who responded with a career year when he stepped in for the injured Nenad Krstic, decided to sign with the Sacramento Kings .

With Moore gone, the Nets don't really miss a step. Magloire is still a solid big man even though his level of play has descended ever since his All-Star year in 2004. Having been moved around a lot since, the Nets should be a good fit since they lack depth down low. The combination of he and Krstic should work well with the big three, so overall a solid pick up for the Nets.

It's... OK... yes, just OK. I mean, Mikki has been a fan favourite for us, but maybe Sean Williams and Jamaal "NO-LOOK-DUNKER" Magloire can give us some hype too.

LET'S GO, NETS!! 8-) (Y)

That could resurrect Magloire's career, nice move IMO (Y)

Too bad the Nets couldn't get Moore in addition to Magloire..

I just hope they can pick up another quality big man and a decent SG/SF (maybe Devin Brown?)

EDIT: Just saw that the Nets waived Hasan Adams, so they are probably going to search for a backcourt help now.

It certainly seems like an upgrade. Moore is coming off a career season but Magloire has been able to string together some good seasons so far in his career. Even his numbers with the Blazers were fairly solid; 6.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg and just under a block per game isn't too shabby for a player who's getting just 21 minutes of PT a night.

i rekon this could be the piece of the puzzle the nets have been missing, the second dominant big man, but there will be alot of pressure on magloire to fill the need.

hassan adams and cliff robinson were waived too

They have Marcus Williams, why bother.

If he NJ lets him go crazy at the post, he'll be fine.

Good signing but NJ is still thin with their bench.

I certainly wouldn't call Jamaal Magloire dominant, but he does fill the Nets' biggest need.

I lost all my faith with Marcus Williams. It's his attitude, the way he... I just lost my faith with him :(

I really like Hassan, I expect him to remain on the league, he works hard and is agressive. Let's hope Jamaal won't have injuries, 'cause he's more productive in 10 minutes than Collins in all his career.

They should give a laptop to Marcus to motivate him.

I agree with Adams being a hard worker that's why I was a bit surprised they cut him.

Hope Jason Kidd and co can wait up for him. While Mags is a decent player, I was surprised he has gone to the nets because he will slow down the offence like he did with the Bucks. Hopefully he doesn't drop to many passes from Kidd as he has hands of stone at times.

Regarding Adams, I would love the Bucks to pick him up for cheap. Would be a nice back-up at the 2/3 bringing some D. Don't see what Mason would bring other leadership more to the table.

Adams is a SG, Marcus is a PG.

They need a backup SG (/SF). I don't have much faith with Antoine Wright, so Devin Brown could fit well as I mentioned.

They waived Hassan because then they'd have like $680K more in the cap if they waived him before this sunday.

Good Luck, Hassan!! Wildcat 4EVER!!

Been three years since this guy was useful. His all-star trip was a joke. One year contract is a good test run though. I assume Jason Collins will be starting again by the end of the year however.

Nachbar plays both forward positions but not SG and as I remember House is a free agent. Besides, you can't have a too thick bench
