NBA Season

Postby thaKEAF on Wed Sep 24, 2003 8:24 am

Has anyone else checked out the schedule on NBA.com? I think it looks pretty good (I only looked at the "Three best Games" for every team. First game on TV will be Mavericks against the Lakers which should be a good way to bring in the season.

If this has already been posted I'm sorry for posting it.

Yeah, I've been watching the NFL to try and hold me over but nothing can take the place of good ol' NBA. :P

Edit: I also saw that Sixers go up against a Miami Heat team that looks improved in the season opener, it should be good but it's gonna be on NBA TV which I don't have.

I've been waiting for the NBA season to start so badly. It sucks so much when the only thing on during the summer are boring baseball games. Now that their season is coming to an end, I could go for some hockey, football, and basketball.

Come on Heidi, give the Lakers some credit. I'd say LA blows out the Mavs on the first night of the season.

they might have the talent but will the chemistry work out between the big 4? all 4 of them average 20ppg in there career at some point...just got to wait and see what happens..

btw why dont u give the Mavs some credit Robby? They got a chance too you know..

The Mavs had a small chance against the Lakers until they blew their 27 point 4th quarter lead to LA last year. Dallas has mentally conceded to the Lakers and that's why LA has destroyed Dallas the past few years. Also, the Mavs are too soft to stop Shaq and now with Malone teaming up with Shaq, Dallas has no shot against LA. Had Dallas been able to get Zo and he was healthy, then they might have had hope, but now they really don't.

yeah...and the only way they can win now is get super hot on that game and start playing D...they'll lose for sure..and since Lakers is a pretty awsome defensive team...they'll probably shut down Dallas' offense...

this sounds very similar to lakers/spurs in 2001(?), especially in the playoffs where the spurs blew leads in each game. but we all knew what happened last year...
anyway, by no means does dallas resemble the spurs roster, although it is arguably just as good, maybe even better. i'm not counting out the mavs just yet in this matchup because of these factors:
-i don't think training camp and some preseason games are enough time for malone & payton (btw both used to being #1 options on O) to start clicking with the rest of the lakers
-as for malone teaming up w/shaq, it remains to be seen how effective those 2 can be together. with shaq downlow, how much room is there in the paint for malone to post up? and if he does go out to the wing for his faceup/turnaround 12-15fters, dallas wouldn't mind that at all, as it would make jamison's/dirk's job easier on defense. and dirk and jamison would definitely pose matchup problems for the mailman
-as mentioned in another thread, bryant hasn't played this offseason due to him still recovering from his injuries. he's not going to be in shape going into the start of the season
-dallas run-and-gun style will definitely work in their favor, possibly wear down LAL with their 30 something starting lineup and thin/unproven bench.

no doubt the lakers playing @home and having a the big guy down low works in their favor. but it's not like their playing a team like the hawks

btw- robby- the pic in your sig... is that the last time malone dunked in a nba game? hehe

hey hey!

Go Lakers...they're gonna smash the Mavs...although I do admit that the Lakers are a group of three old bums and a rapist...but hey- they're pretty good!
BTW...i was being sarcastic!

Well...here's my predicted box score of LA-Mavs....120-80

LA...Shaq gets 30 points and 14 boards and 5 blocks
Malone gets 20 points, 10 boards, 5 assists
Payton gets 20 points and 10 assists...add 6 steals
Ripper Kobe (How do u like his nickname....he can rip it up on court and he's also a convicted rapist....ok...i stop being gay!)...anyways- Kobe will get 35 points, 5 assists and 5 boards...
Devean George will score 10 points and the bench will score 5 points together....wait make it D-fish scores 5 points and noone else gets GT!

Maybe that's a bit far-fetched...but- shit happens!
