NBA VS EUROLEAGUE

Postby Dwight Howard on Sat May 12, 2007 7:51 am

NBA VS EUROLEAGUE or James Vs Papaloukas Rakocevic VS Iverson or Garnett VS Battiste!

In my opinion i like more the european basketball and the defense here but on the other side is the attraction of NBA!
What do you think

What Euroleague needs to be more attractive :
- play 48 minutes/game
- have specific jerseys such as in nba
- teams that keep their players more than 1 year (too many turnover)
- retains good and young players (bargnani, batoum....)

Dumb discussion. The NBA is and will ever be better than the Euroleague, period.

The fact that you like it better doesn't mean that it's better. And no, there isn't "a lot of defense" in the Euroleague; Euro players that play in the NBA wouldn't have had such a hard time in their first NBA seasons if there was.

I am FROM the USA and I much prefer the Euroleague (and European b-ball) over NBA. I mean, the NBA is just flashy and "Wow did you see that dunk". NBA "Fans" are too casual, they only watch the games during the playoffs and only know the names of the "Superstars" who are over-hyped assholes that make too much money... Most NBA "fans" can only name 2 or 3 players from their "favorite team" and they could care less about watching a good game... they only wanna' watch to see what Kobe (rapist) and D. Wade are going to do next while the NBA players spend the year collecting DUIs, beating up strippers & their wives, and doing Sprite commercials...

There are 5 guys on the court and 12 men to a team, but when they announce the next game they say, "Tune in next Wednesday and watch D-Wade and Shaq take on the Charlotte Bobcats." That WOULD be interesting to see two guys take on an entire team... It's annoying... Like everything else in America its all about who makes the most money and who can dunk the most in a game... It is just one big, fat hype-fest. Fuck those gangsters and their dunk-fest game. They don't give two shits about the "ART" of basketball. European basketball is smooth and fun to watch. Euroleague is a nice balance between NCAA and NBA with a European edge. So my vote is for Euroleague. Suck on it, NBA!

Two words.
Darko.
Sarunas.
Kobe (rapist)

And you have proof?
Better tell it to the court and the prosecuting team so they could re-open the case against him.
As far as I know, Kobe hasn't been indicted of rape.
The only truth that is proven is that Kobe is an adulterer.

Oh and we all want our kids to grow up to be adulterers and not rapists. He's a goddamn scumbag either way. The list of players with illegitimate kids and DUIs and other thugary is too grand for me to post in one message. And I don't know what you mean by simply stating the names of two great european players that didn't or haven't panned out in the NBA. You've made no point what-so-ever. That's two examples... You're just proving my point about "NBA fans" for me, that you can only name two Europeans ever and they are the most recent. Some players don't fit in some systems... That doesn't happen to just European players, it also happens to American Players. Examples: Ben Wallace and Billups. They were in the league for a long time until they caught a break and ended up on the right team. European style of basketball is just different and IMO BETTER, so it isn't surprising that a Euro player might struggle in certain basketball programs. And it was kind of hard for Milicic to do well playing 1 minute a game off the Detroit bench. You have to be allowed to play to prove yourself. He did a really good job in Orlando and he will do even better at Memphis. Look at all the European players that did play in the NBA and had (have) great success: The entire San Antonio Spurs who have won year after year with a very international roster, Sabonis, Kukoc, Marciulionis, Divac, Petrovic, Andris Beidrens, Pavlovic, Jaric, Garbajosa, Detlef Shrepf, Rik Smits, Tony Parker (Finals MVP), Dirk Nowitzki (League MVP), Bargniani (1st Round Pick)... Yeah, those guys didn't pan out too well. Jesus, man... Gimme' a break... That's only a small selection of the names that I could continue to name. That doesn't include the international players that mostly play in Europe...

For me, I just think the ART and GAME of true basketball is happening almost exclusively in the European game. Even Larry Bird said that the best basketball wasn't being played in America. So, I guess he doesn't know anything about basketball either. You are an idiot... Regardless if you like NBA or Euroleague, you are an idiot. When you have a valid point, please get back with me, otherwise don't shout out two names with no point and run, nitwit.

He's an idiot and uneducated about basketball because he considers Darko and Sarunas assholes who do not care about the "art" of basketball?

He made no argument at all regarding the quality of Euro players in relation to the NBA. You simply assigned him that position for the sole purpose of insulting him and attacking the position more.

Therefore, you were attacking a straw man.

Whatever benji... I've been around the forums long enough to know that you are a wonderfully eloquent procrastinator and then when somebody "get's engaged" in a topic you take shots at them. So I digress. Besides, I wasn't angry, I was simply trying to make a point to some typical "NBA Fan"... I just really love basketball and I shouldn't have brought that up in a forum about basketball. I'm so silly...

Again, you're putting arguments on people. Nobody said you shouldn't post anything. I was questioning why you were calling shadow an idiot and insulting him so much when he didn't even make the argument you were assigning to him.

I didn't say that kids should follow the footsteps of an adulterer and other thug-players. I only refuted the fact that you called Kobe a rapist when he wasn't even convicted. Unless you believe one is guilty unless proven innocent.
Fish-Crackers wrote:I don't know what you mean by simply stating the names of two great european players that didn't or haven't panned out in the NBA. You've made no point what-so-ever.

I assumed that you were a knowledgeable basketball fan to know about Darko's recent tirade to rape the referees' daughters and mothers and Sarunas' terrible work ethic and attitude just because he doesn't get the playing time he thinks he deserves.
Guess I was wrong.
Fish-Balls wrote:You're just proving my point about "NBA fans" for me

And your somewhat the same type of typical "NBA fans" that you label because you generalize the NBA as a thug league when there are NBA players that are upstanding citizens and do well for their community. I'll give you two recognizable names, Tim Duncan and Shane Battier.
I could give you more names but they aren't that popular since some of them are scrubs.
Why bother knowing what scrubs do to help their community anyway?

I can't argue with that. It's Larry Legend for cripes sake. (Y)

Thanks, Shadowgrin! That was fun...

As I said before, I'm not mad. I'm glad you came back and clarified some of your statements. I like the NBA (mostly the European players, of course) fine... I think the NBA basketball style of play has greatly improved over the last five years, and I think that is mostly because of the international influence. Personally, I just like the Euroleague and International b-ball so much better. And being American, I think it is so obvious to just say, "Oh the NBA is better because it is the basketball that is played in my country." NBA is just too flashy, and I think it is overtly American and typical of the same over-hyped prototypical eye candy that we are used to shelling out to the world.

I just didn't think you had clarified anything that you said in your previous post. And "NO" I wasn't aware of the Darko thing, and Sarunas is just a hot-headed passionate player. He wants to contribute and the teams that he was on didn't allow him to. He's not a cry-baby, he's kind of an asshole, but at least he loves the game and that's good to me. He did a great job at Eurobasket and he has been a premier player his entire career and just because he didn't pan out on G.State and Pacers, doesn't make him a shitty player.

Anyhow... I'm going to go make me a sandwich and do one-arm push ups. That's just how I roll, dawg.
