Not to mention the fact that they produce a lot more CO2 than other normal cars (by normal I don't mean a normal car in America since 'normal' for you means a car with a V6, I mean a straight-four-engine car that can be found anywhere else in the world), and by doing so, they contribute to pollution issues and global warming. Why would anyone (other than a redneck) ever get a car with a V8-engine?

I'm okay with someone getting a pickup, I personally love trucks and there's lots of pickups with economic and global warming-friendly engines, like the Ford Ranger, but getting a truck with a V8-engine means you want to contribute to global warming.

If you have to deal with snow issues every day then it gets as simple as this: Make sure your next car isn't a pickup.

Mars has been undergoing "global warming" for thousands of years, the Earth's warming has started 50 years ago and has already reached a really high level, do you really want to further?

Are you a politician or something? Do you earn money for supporting oil extraction? How can you say there's nothing we can do?!?
There's obviously something we can do, and that is abolish every single material or substance that damages the atmosphere.
We could've done it even twenty years ago but there's obviously some people who takes profit from damaging the world.
How do you think your country pays that huge foreign debt it has? Or that war you started more than 5 years ago?

European countries have started paying their contribution to eliminate global warming (even if in a minimal way) more than ten years ago and actually emit 1000 tonnes of CO2 in more than a minute while the US, China and Russia emit that quantity of CO2 in less than 10 seconds.

I'm with you on the fact that it has to be a world wide movement but if we don't start this personally, it will never be a world wide movement.

On topic, this is the ride I'm getting next January for my 16th birthday.
It's a Kawasaki Eliminator powered with an air-cooled 125 cc engine. Really makes my current scooter look like shit.

First off, I hardly ever go off road so that agrument is invalid. But I find having a full ton, 4x4 pick-up with some sandbags in the back a great weapon to use against the Minnesota winters. Never drove an SUV in the winter so I wouldn't know how well they handle but I'm perfectly fine with a truck in the snow. It's NOT the main reason why I need a pick-up but it's an added bonus.

Secondly, I understand the need to change and become less dependent on oil but are you really telling me I should give up the things I love to do so I can "save the planet"? Me switching to a hybrid car or some half ton pick-up (which I have already) that has no torque and can't pull the snowmobiles or boat we use when we go up north is not going to save the planet. I'm not going to change the life expectancy of this planet by myself and I know nobody else is going to change with me. Why the hell will I give up my weekend trips to the lake for that? You tell me the benefit I get out of it and I'll let you know if it is worth it.

Thirdly, if you want to be concerned about pollution talk to China. They are heading in the wrong direction, atleast America is making strides to become better. However, the reality of the situation is we are dependent on oil and it's going to be very, very hard to switch. It might take a complete oil crisis to get everything to flip into gear and have the country really start focusing on alternate fuel sources.

Right now, I'm not impressed with the line of vehicles they have out right now and I'm going to wait until they give me something that gets me what I want. If I want a full sized truck I see no reason why I can't do that. I don't need your permission or blessing to do it. If you want to save the planet by yourself go ahead. I pick up trash I see on the ground. I recycle. I think I do more than my share when you consider what others do. I'm the least of your concern, buddy. You are fighting the wrong guy.

It gets 60mpg on the highway, and I don't get to drive it yet.

Another cool thing about the Prius is that we've had it since Thursday and we've drove like 200+ miles and the gas tank is practically full.

Getting a truck with a V6 engine is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It's almost as dumb as getting a truck without 4 wheel drive. If you gonna get some tiny little V6 pickup, you might as well buy a minny van. They have no power. You can't tow crap with them, you can't haul anything big.

And if you have no 4x4, then you can't take your truck anywhere but the road, and it does nothing in the winter. One of the points of having a truck is so that you can have a reliable vehicle when the need comes to use it off road.

If I were ever getting anything for off road, I would always buy a truck, always. I'd never buy an SUV for off road, in fact I'd never buy an SUV period. When winter rolls around, you see SUV's in the ditch and trucks and cars on the road, because car drivers drive like grandmas, truck drivers drive smart, and the SUV drivers drive like their 4x4 will get them out of any situation and the next thing they know they're in a ditch.
