Have you heard this rumor ?

Mon Apr 30, 2007 2:55 am

According to a French Newspaper (L'equipe) Mike Pietrus could be signed this summer by SA to replace Bruce Bowen if he retires.

As I did not see this rumor elsewhere, I was wondering if somebody has already heard it.

Other question : does he worth it ?

Bruce Bowen is most deffinately not retiring after this season.

It could happen, especially if the Spurs win the title, so he could go out on top. He'll be 36 in June.

I would feel bad for the Spurs if they had to downgrade so much as to start Mickael Pietrus.

He's one of the worst one-on-one defenders in the NBA. He tries - I'll give him that. But aside from that, he's horrible. He pressures his man too much, everytime. It doesn't matter who he's guarding, he gives his man 0 space. He's constantly putting his hand on the defender and picking up fouls.

edit: I will give him that he's a good help defender.

i wouldnt say he's one of the worst one on one...he's decent, and probably better than a lot of defenders that are overrated.

Even if the Spurs are interested in signing him, they might not be able to as he's a restricted free agent. I'd say Golden State will match any reasonable offer sheet.

Bowen wount retire this year,no questions about that

Pietrus is one of those guys you really root for because he really does try out there on the court and hustles, but he's just dumb as a doorknob and makes boneheaded plays consistently.

Bowen is a major part of the Spurs' defence, so I think there'd definitely be a big drop-off if he were to retire.
