It would be kind of predictable though, after all they already had Edge do that. Personally I don't think Kennedy is ready to have a major belt just yet, I'm just not as a high on him as a lot of people seem to be. As far as Taker having a long reign, I don't see the harm. If they can have JBL and Batista hold the belt for nine months plus, no reason Taker shouldn't hold onto the belt until at least Summerslam.

Kennedy not in the card at Backlash? I smell Kennedy cashing in his MITB.
Or maybe the WWE has finally gotten smart and is confusing the fans?

Sat Apr 28, 2007 1:50 pm

I'd be a little disappointed if he did, particularly if it led to him winning the championship. Admittedly that's partly because I'm an Undertaker fan and would like to see him have one good, long reign but as I said before I don't think Kennedy is ready just yet. I can see it becoming a situation similar to Randy Orton's brief title push and face turn in late 2004 if they put the belt on him so soon.

Currently all six Backlash matches are for titles. Not bad.

I don't really see anything special about Kennedy either. His in-ring abilities are mediocre at best, and his promo skills are phoney imo. His voice is damn annoying, and the only thing that sets him apart is his 5 hour long entrance, which is annoying as well. Kennedy has "mid-carder" written all over him, and it's still confusing as to why the WWE decided to have him in the main-event picture. The MITB would've suited Punk (get Lashley some competition within ECW for once), but then again, none of the other MITB competitors were suitable.

Sat Apr 28, 2007 3:22 pm

My sentiments exactly. I've never understood the appeal of "Kennedy...Kennedy", to me it seems a bit silly rather than the next great catchphrase. His finisher is a bit contrived as well; it looks impressive and all but it's not one that can be used very spontaneously without the opponent just happening to end up in position for it every time.

Elsewhere, Batista continues to make a great impression with the fans.

Who says Kennedy will cash it to Taker? <- (That's just me hoping he will take the belt off Cena.)

I think their pushing Kennedy because the guy has a good mic skills and he always succeed gathering heat. But still, i agree to have Punk won the MITB instead of him.

About Batista, :shake:

Batista being the retard that he is. If he wasn't on Triple H's good side, he would've never gotten to the top. He has the wrestler looks, but he has no mic skills whatsoever, his acting is atrocious to say the least, and his in-ring work is downright despicable and pathetic. May Batista fuck up another bump and tear his muscles and go to retirement with his funky lunchboxes and get the hell off my TV

He gets cheap heat. That catchphrase is downright annoying, not catchy at all. As I said earlier, his mic skills are mediocre (but then again, a guy like Batista with no-mic skills is in the main event..) and Kennedy just doesn't have a main-eventer image or feeling. He straight up looks like a jobber. But if it's him taking the belt off Cena and getting back the traditional WWE title belt back, I'm all for it, then Kennedy has served his purpose.

I like Kennedy, which apparently isn't a popular opinion around here. I always watch his segments, as I find him quite entertaining.

I also read on Rajah that he and MVP have been studying old 80's tapes to improve their ring psychology, which only improves my opinion of him. I'd love to see a feud between he and Cena.

Sun Apr 29, 2007 6:48 am

After seeing what MVP did in Wrestlemania 23, I think he's got potential.
He's still borderline crap atm imo but he'll be entertaining when he develops.

Sun Apr 29, 2007 8:13 am

I think Kennedy is alright as well. Not great, but much better than a lot of other guys.

I can't stand Batista. I swear, even the Great Khali does a better job on the mic ...well, maybe he isn't that bad, but either way they need to make him a permanent mid-card.

Sun Apr 29, 2007 9:29 am

I like Batista's gimmick, and somehow I've kind of ignored the quality of his promos to some degree. I think he brainwashed me by using the spinebuster, one of my all-time favorite moves. (Arn Anderson (Y) )

Since you bring up the Great Khali - if I have to watch one more 1.5 minute match ending in a two-handed chokeslam, I'm going to go crazy. Who decides that Khali vs. Super Crazy is going to be an entertaining segment? Unbelievable.

Sun Apr 29, 2007 9:44 am

LoL at Great Khali.

I like Batista when he was still in Evolution. I think i just got fed up of him and Cena being in main event every damn week in Raw and Smackdown.

I know this is kinda late, but what the hell is WWE thinking about the international belt? :|

Intercontinental?

Sun Apr 29, 2007 10:29 am

 my bad sorry.

Still I'm happy that its out of Umaga's waist. But giving it to someone who just got out of OVW? Cant they give it to someone else like Carlito?

Sun Apr 29, 2007 9:24 pm

Carlito's being wasted as a face though. He's also got tremendous heat for being quite vocal in his complaints about his current situation, so a title run is unlikely. In fact, it would seem the main reason he's still with the company is that the WWE doesn't want to see anyone of significance jumping to TNA.

Mon Apr 30, 2007 6:52 am

I've heard a lot of people saying TNA was good stuff so I've been watching it off an on for a few months. It still strikes me as typical Vince Russo garbage, which it is. The wrestling is OK, but the presentation style makes it seem like a total circus.

There are run-ins in about half the matches I've seen, such as the highly advertised Angle-Sting match on Impact that turned out to be a joke. In addition, Mike Tenay and Don West are easily the most irritating announcers of all time. I find TNA difficult to watch, but they certainly have some good performers like Senshi/Low Ki, A.J. Styles, and Samoa Joe.

Mon Apr 30, 2007 8:58 am

Yeah, Carlito is being wasted atm. Base on the last RAW, i think his turning heel again?

I dont like TNA that much. For me, its just a spotfest wrestling. And as of late all they do is promos then 2-3 match. They want to tackle alot of storyline yet the show is only an hour. I used to love the X division but i think its not TNA's priority as of now.

West and Tenay on the announcing table is a joke. I remember a segment where West scream "OMG, A CHAIRSHOT!!" yet when the camera focus on them, I saw his eyes locked on a paper(i think its the script) not in the monitor.

Mon Apr 30, 2007 10:58 am

Man... TNA as a whole is being wasted. Especially Samoa Joe's undefeated streak.. they could've have a home grown talent break it and receive a major push, but instead it got wasted on Angle. TNA's early days were good, nowadays it's downright garbage imo.

About Carlito, personally, I don't really care about him. He's a bland wrestler, horrible mic skills and average in-ring abilities. (I know, I've been singing this song about Kennedy as well). I'm just disappointed in the whole WWE product overall these days. The wrestlers that should get pushed gets squashed and jobbed, while the undeserving get their rise to the top. I'd definitely like to see Regal, Val Venis, and Shelton Benjamin get a big push.

If only our forum has the spoiler tag options

I'd be inclined to complain to the admin. I have been meaning to add one though, it'd be useful for the TV show threads as well. Just need to find a good mod for phpBB.

That Last Man Standing Match is

In retrospect I should've seen that finish coming. Not a bad way of protecting both characters.

I almost cried.

Guess we will see Taker dropping the title soon.
