There was also talk of a trade to Detroit if I recall correctly. I forget who was supposed to be coming to Philadelphia in that deal...Stack perhaps?

man,i just forgot that sixers had trade talks with Clips too...but it wasnt anything big, that trade that wouldve been with Pistons just was declined thanks to Matt Geiger, who didnt want to get 15% off his contract(thank god) but wasnt detroit gonna give Grant Hill or was Hill already traded to Orlando?

I believe the talks with Detroit were during 1999/2000, in which case Hill would have been in the final year of his contract.

It was Jerry Stackhouse. The deal between Philidelphia and Detroit was incredibly close unitl Pat Croce stopped it.

Pat Croce didnt stop it! it was stopped thanks to Matt Geiger!this trade wasnt cap-wise and Matt Geiger didnt want to have fewer money (15% fewer than his contract showed) and the trade was declined! but does anyone know who wouldve been added from both teams cause these kind of all-star players usually arent traded alone...

I'm not trying to turn this into a Kobe Bryant thread- but didn't Shaq complain to management and asked them to trade Kobe for an injured Vince Carter???

or something like that...

I thought the Shaq/Kobe "feud" ended during the 2000/2001 season. Perhaps Shaq made a tongue-in-cheek comment about an injured Carter being a better fit than Kobe? :?

i dont like or dislike carter/kobe, but if there was no such thing as a grey zone i would probably favor dislike, so my opinion here is unbias

and my opinion is: even shaq is not stupid enough to believe vince now is better than kobe now. it might happen though, the pendelum seems to be changing, things are looking up for vince and down for kobe. but it is too risky and kobe fans are so insane i think management would be hesitant to trade him on risk of decapitation.

but shaq supposedly said "better fit" and that of course is debatable. vince looks to me like a player who would flourish sharing the number one duties.

Philly was smart to not trade AI, because he's obviously one of the better players in the league.

But I really can't think of anyone that would make a fair trade with him.

You're right about that, but I know for sure Croce helped patch things up between AI and Larry Brown after the trade didn't happen. If you can find more info. about why the trade was stopped, I'd like to know that.

I wish Iverson would be traded to a decent team like the Nets or something because I'm really sick of Philly.

Well, in that case, they just need to get a better supporting cast for my boy Iverson.
