And your player to build your team around is?
Come on make your vote counts!
Sometimes when I see Lebron James plays, I think of Scottie Pippen with a scorer mentality and average man-to-man defense.
Thu Mar 29, 2007 9:05 pm
i would build my team around scottie. great team player. puts his team first
Fri Mar 30, 2007 2:38 am
I would pick LeBron based on natural talent and why pick Pippen to build a franchise around when he was the guy who was a building block for the Bulls when they were building around Jordan.
Fri Mar 30, 2007 2:52 am
Lebron.
.. some of that shit Pip pulled in the post season in 94 is kinda sketchy .. character issues or something.
Fri Mar 30, 2007 3:10 am
Lebron.
Pippen's too old.
Fri Mar 30, 2007 3:19 am
Pippen, i think Pippen would have scored quite a bit if he wasn't forced to be a distributor for the Bulls. I think he always kind of regrets that looking back, but it was the sacrifice he made to be part of a historic team.
Although you can't really go wrong building aroudn LeBron either =P
Fri Mar 30, 2007 5:58 am
For now, Scottie.
Fri Mar 30, 2007 8:31 am
Scottie is one of the 15 greatest players to ever play this game. Talk to me in 5-6 years and it may be LeBron.

, what you said is exactly what makes them different. Lebron is more a scorer, Pippen was known for his defense.

And Pippen doesn't act like a little kid with too much money.

BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- LeBron James' new home is under construction and it will be suited for a king.
Bob Dyer of the Akron Beacon Journal provided NewsChannel5's John Kosich with sneak peek information about the 35,000-square-foot home.
Dyer said the home has everything and is a "playground for adults."
The home will have a casino, two-lane bowling alley, barber shop, aquarium, sports bar and a recording studio.
The master bedroom will also have a two-story walk-in closet.
Additionally, the home will have a six-car garage.
Dyer said that 19 families live within 800 feet of James' new home and many are wondering why James did not choose to live in a more secluded area.
"Neighbors are just scratching their heads," Dyer said. "They can't figure out why he built here instead of buying 200 acres in the middle of nowhere. He told us through an agent that he wants to be near friends and family."

Jeez, who cares. This has nothing to do with his basketball career and it doesn't make him any worse of a player
-----
I'd pick LeBron even though he's younger than 75% of current NBA rookies. He was the fastest player to 8000 points by a land slide, he can score in bunches, go to the rim easily, distribute the ball as good as anybody else in the NBA (some of these passes he makes are ridiculous), he's big, fast, and strong. And in the second half of 06-07 his defense has been remarkable and very entertaining to watch.
If he can do all this at his young age, I have to pick him over Scottie.
Fri Mar 30, 2007 11:23 am
LeBron. He is already a superstar with the age and potential of a rookie. And he is leading a otherwise 20-win team to the second seed in the playoffs.

So you're telling me you wouldn't build something like that if you had hundreds of millions of dollars? You are a liar. Also it's not like just because you have money you gotta live in the hills, aww neighbors are jealous so what. I vote King James.

My sentiments exactly.

LMAO off at comparing lebron too pippen, a six time nba champion, all defensive first team selection, one of the best players in the history of the game and lebron has yet to even make the "east" finals let alone win all them championships.
Fri Mar 30, 2007 8:59 pm
At the moment: Pippen But in future: Maybe LeBron
Fri Mar 30, 2007 11:24 pm
lebron
pippen was 1 of da best defenders, he probally had offence similar to hmm, someone like rashard lewis, (not their skills) but i mean, their abilities, they can prob avg in the 24-25 points per game max..
if you guys remember, lebron just avged over 30 points a game a season ago? and he also had a season where he was avging over 7 boards and 7 assits and 2 steals...
that special,
we have seen scottie at his best, clearly he was 1 of da top players in the league, we havent' seen lebron at his best, yet he is again, 1 of the best in the league

Lol, LeBron has plenty of time to make the finals. He joined the worst team int he NBA (cavaliers) in the draft, and now they are one of the best teams in the league (they have quite a ways to go still), but a 20 win team to a 50 win team ALL because of him.
Like I said before, he's younger than 75% of rookies, he has plenty of time to win the glory for this poor city.

LE BRON!!!!

Well then I guess that makes Darko better then Bill Russell, becuase Darko has plenty of time to make the finals too.

That makes no sense, LeBron is so young and he started on a lousy team that is slowly getting better. He is the reason the cavaliers went from a 20-win team, to the #2 team in the eastern conference right now in this final reg. season month.
Michael Jordan didn't get a ring until 90-91' which I believe was his 7th season? He ended up with 6 rings. LeBron just turned 22 and is on his 4th year in the NBA.
This is completely different than Darko, LeBron is a different player to complain about him not winning a championship/making the finals yet. You don't go from 20-wins to a championship in 3 seasons, every year though you get closer.
The cavs will make a championship soon enough, but that doesnt matter enough, winning it is more important than making it. Give him atleast 2 more seasons before putting that kind of criticism on him.

How do we know that for sure though? There are areas in which LeBron can improve - most notably his ability to take over a game in crunch time - but how much better can he possibly be? A lot of people seem to expect him to come out and average a triple double simply because he's putting up All-NBA numbers in his early 20s but achieving such a mark is easier said than done. Putting aside any talk of averaging a triple double, simply improving his current stats year-to-year is easier said than done.
And even putting aside statistical improvement for a moment, there's no guarantee LeBron will ever be a player who you can build a championship around or get the job done when it matters the most. Don't get me wrong, at the moment I wouldn't bet against it happening at some point but at the same time it hasn't happened yet.

agreed on what you said, stats wise, i dont' see him improving much, maybe better 3point shooting, better free throw shooting, less turnovers and more points in the 4th, being most poist at the right times, i believe Lebron matured quite a bit after last post season, we will see this upcoming post season after him "cruising" thru 3/5 of this season.
And this doesn't mean Scottie was able to carry a franchise, i don't think Scottie had the offensive skills to be the go-to guy on a championship calibre team, i dont' think he has the killer instinct either, not saying Lebron does, but i thought Pippen was just an awsome support guy, like a Shawn Marion, with better offence, and def.
Tue Apr 03, 2007 1:26 pm
It does come down to "What if..." with Pippen as he played most of his career with Michael Jordan, spending just one and a half seasons in Chicago as the focal player of the team. After Michael Jordan's return and second retirement, he had another opportunity to step into that role with the Rockets and Blazers but age and injuries had taken their toll.
My point is just that LeBron may not become a player you can build a team around either, though as I said I wouldn't bet against it just yet.
Wed Apr 04, 2007 2:14 am
Right now, Scottie.
As Andrew said, all comes down to "what if..." In the 94 season Horace Grant and BJ Armstrong had career years, thanks to Scottie (and a a little bit of Phil) . Somebody said, caracter issues..well, u might be right, but that was one play (and I understand due to the scenario and what it meant for Scottie ,although I wouldn't have done the same thing ... ) in 16 years, he always was regarded as a hardworker and a winner.
Lebron..well, Lebron, sometimes he just doesnt care, its so easy for him, that most of the time he's just cruising (like the first half of this season). And that worries me, as well as the "global icon" remarks he made. Makes you wonder where's his head at.
