Camby Injured, Hornets Defeat Nuggets In A Low Scoring Game
29th December 2006
(20-7) DEN @ NOK (19-9)

Image 76-64 Image

The New Orleans Hornets 06/07 Season is turning into a Cindarella Story, increasing their winning streak to 6 and taking thier record to a staggering 20-9. Iverson and Anthony were pretty ineffective in their game with Iverson posting 18 points and 7 assists whilst Carmelo got 13 points and 4 dishes. Marcus Camby was injured in the first quarter, with a sprained ankle and is belived to be out for about 2-3 weeks.
New Orleans survived Kenyon Martin's 16 rebounds in the match, Martin, who was alos rumoured for a trade to the Hornets, crashed the boards relentlessly and kept the hope alive. Continous runs for the Hornets allowed them to take the lead time and time again after sloppy defense and rushed offence, Iverson did hit a few threes but the Nuggets never lead in the whole match-up.
Chris Paul and Kareem Rush led the way with 18 points each. Rush, signed as a free-agent, constantly hit the open shots whilst Denver always tried to double team Chris Paul. Paul got 12 assist to go with his points.

Hornets Win-Streak Destroyed After Loss To Rivals Dallas
1st January 2007
(20-9) NOK @ DAL (19-10)

Image 97-94 Image

After beating Denver two nights ago in New Orleans, the Hornets started off the new year 2007 with a loss to Southwest Divison rivls the Dallas Mavericks. The Hornets, who have only beaten the Mavs in a pre-season game, were simply not good enough for Jason Terry and Nowitzki.
Terry scored 28 points and dished out 3 assists. Terry lead like a champion and there was no stopping him from the first whistle. Dirk Nowitzki pulled down 10 rebounds and tallied 18 points to complete his double-double. Nowitzki, who said "we can definently win the Championship back this year" got the Mavericks up and running with 9 points in the first quarter, all from three-point range.
Chris Paul had a bad night, with just 7 points and 9 assists. The second-year Point-Guard out of Wake Forest kept his head held high though and he said "tonight was just a minor blip, we will be back to full strength next game" Carlos Boozer was top-scorer for New Orleans with 16 baskets, he also pulled down 10 rebounds for his double-double. Kapono assisted him in the scoring tally with 11 of his own.

Hornets Insider : December Recap

It has been a great month for the New Orleans Hornets and their fans, here is a detailed look at Dember's achievments.

C. Paul | 20.6 PPG | 2.0 RPG | 9.5 APG
K. Rush | 12.3 PPG | 2.6 RPG | 2.6 APG
J. Kapono | 13.2 PPG | 2.6 RPG | 2.8 APG
C. Boozer | 15.0 PPG | 9.3 RPG | 2.3 APG
T. Chandler | 9.4 PPG | 6.0 RPG | 2.3 APG

Chris Paul currently leads the NBA with 86 steals
Chris Paul currently sits 2cnd in the NBA for Assists-Per-Game. Occupying the top spot is Phoenix Suns' Steve Nash with 9.7 APG - only .2 in front of Paul.
Jason Kapono is currently ranked 9th in the NBA for 3PT%
Chris Paul leads the NBA with minutes played, which brings up the thought: If Paul were to get injured or for some other reason, unplayable; how would the Hornets cope?
The Hornets are sitting on top of the Southwest Divison with a 20-10 record.

Hornets Back On Track, Blow-out In New Orleans
January 2cnd 2007
(11-21) GSW @ NOK (20-10)

Image 94-66 Image

Defeated last night by the Dallas Mavericks, the Hornets returned home to host the Golden State Warriors - a team which are seriously underachieving so far this season. You only have to look down the points column to see why New Orleans moved to a 21-10 record. Every single starting player was in double digits. The high-man was PG Chris Paul, he posted 24 points and 18 assists.
Peja Stojakovic and Desmond Mason were rewarded back with their starting positions whilst Kapono and Rush were both rested. Mason and Stojakovic had to play well to earn back their spots and they did just that. Peja got 16 points and 4 rebounds whilst Mason flew to 15 and 3. High-point man for Golden State was Jason Richardson. Richardson continued to battle even though his team were getting pounded on both ends of the court, he finished up with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. His team-mate Baron Davis did his best with 10 points and 13 assists but it wasn't enough to break down the Hornets defence.
Tyson Chandler rejected 7 attempts and Boozer hanked down 15 rebounds, yet another sign that New Orleans may have one of the most dominant defensive forces in the entire NBA.

New Orleans welcomes young gun Dorrel Wright.
January 2cnd 2007

The Miami Heat and New Orleans Hornets agreed terms today on a trade which sees two young players swap clubs. The Hornets sent Power-Forward Cedric Simmons to Miami whilst they welcomed young SF Dorrel Wright. Wright has really impressed in his short time with the Heat and New Orleans wanted him. "He is a young player and has a lot to learn, but when you look at how talented he already is, it makes it even more sweeter to have him here."

Wright Drops 32 On Debut, Hornets Blow-out Mo-Town
January 4th 2007
(16-13) DET @ NOK (21-10)

Image 94-70 Image

Dorrel Wright put on an amazing show in New Orleans tonight, playing to his new home crowd, the young superstar got a staggering 32 points. Wright showed great athleticism and was also unselfish with 6 assists. "I was just going to go out there and show the fans what I can do, I am really pleased with my performance and I don't think I could have introduced myself better"
Rasheed Wallace and the rest of his visitng Detroit teammates were shocked but eventually pulled back a 13 point deficit with a shower of threes from Wallace. Rasheed ended up with 25 points and 12 rebounds but it still wasn't enough to stop New Orleans. Peja Stojakovic, returning to his starting SF position, shot 73% from the field and posted 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.
Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler also were excellent players for the Hornets, Paul got 20 points and 8 assists whilst Chandler shwoed yet another great defensive performance. Chandler swatted away 5 attempts, pulled down 13 rebounds, handed out 8 assists and scored 15 points. Chauncey Billups did manage to break through a couple of times to finish up with 20 buckets, but could do nothing more to prevent a great performnace in new Orleans by the Hornets - who are really flying high...
