All-Star Game 2007 - Las Vegas.

With millions of people voting, the All-Star 2007 competition for the starting line-ups for the Game in Las Vegas are hotting up.

Image

Allen Iverson leads the Point-Guard position in the West followed closely behind New Orlean's Chris Paul.
Leading PPG Shooting Guard Kobe Bryant unsurprisingly leads the way for the west followed by Tracy McGrady of Houston.
Small-Forward Shawn Marion is the current starter but with only 10 votes between him and Carmelo Anthony, both need to step up their game if they want to capture the spot.
Power-Forward has been absolutely dominated by Kevin Garnett. He is followed by Tim Duncan, but its hard to see anyone catching KG, boasting a 1,062 vote advantage.
Centers include Yao Ming, Amare Stoudemire and Mehemt Okur.

Image

Since the departure of Iverson, Washington's Gilbert Arenas finally gets his chance to start at the All-Star Game. He will take the PG position spot after dominating the polls.
Miami guard Dwyane Wade takes up the Shooting Guard position.
Last year's MVP LeBron James has the highest amount of votes for the All-Star Game and so will take the Small-Forward Spot.
Jermaine O'Neal of the Pacers takes the starting PF spot.
Veteran Shaquille O'Neal snatches up the starting Center positon.

Hornets Sign Free-Agent Kareem Rush

After slipping to third position in the Southwest Divison behind leaders San Antonio and the Dallas Mavericks, the Horents felt they need to shake things up. They bought in free-agent Kareem Rush for the Shooting-Guard role.
Rush played for the Bobcats two seasons ago and at 24, he is an exciting young prospect.
"Rush is an excellent shooter and is exactly what New Orleans needs at this moment in time. Mason has been playing well, but he needs to play better. Kareem can shoot the ball form almost everywhere and I think he proved that for Charlotte two season ago. We are very excited to have him here."
Rush's contract will earn him $1.75m over a year with the Hornets.

Chandler puts Raptors in Ice Age

Image 95-90 Image

Tyson Chandler had a great game in the paint for the Hornets. He played outstanding defense and got 3 blocks against a formidable Toronto team. Chandler ended up getting 15 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists.
Chris Bosh will feel he didn't really play to his peak in this game. The 6'9'' Power-Forward - who is also in line for the East's PF in the All-Star game- got 15pts, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Bosh played a big part in the Raptors first quarter lead.
On his debut performance in front of his new home crowd, Rush did a good job on both ends. he got 14 points and 5 rebounds to go along with a 79% shooting percentage.
Morris Peterson was the highest scoring player on the court with 17. However, with some selfish shots and sloppy defensive play, he didn't hold his own on all aspects of the game.

Hornets Monthly Recap

Overall, its been a good first month in the NBA for the New Orleans Hornets. Finishing with a win over the Raptors, the Hornets are looking to carry on their good form on their road to the play-offs.
"The month has been very good for myself and the whole Hornets organisation. After our first game of the season, I knew we were going to be a good team and the acqusitions of Carlos Boozer and Kareem Rush only solidated my opinion."
With Chris Paul currently 3rd in the Assists-Per-Game column, the Hornets know they have a very strong line-up behind the arc. Inside is where they lacked; David West wasn't putting in the performances and Tyson Chandler started nervy. In came Carlos Boozer.
"I knew Carlos would be a good signing for my team. He has already shown what he can do in the NBA so I didn't need to doubt his ability. He does all the dirty work, grabs rebounds, makes hustle plays and sets screens to open up the whole game"
5 games into the season and to many of the fan's delight were sitting first in the Southwest Division, however as the season went on and both Paul and Chandler were struggling with niggling injuries, the Hornets slipped to third behind the Mavericks and the Spurs. Connor Manning, New Orleans' GM, decided he needed another new face.
"When I signed Kareem Rush I was ecstatic. He is a young, extremely talented player. I was surprised he was still a free-agent by the time he inked for us but it was a great signing for my team."

Monthly Stats:
Chris Paul - 17.9 PPG - 1.7 RPG - 8.9 APG -
Kareem Rush - 14 PPG - 5 RPG - 0 APG - (Rush has played one game)
Peja Stojakovic - 17.5 PPG - 4.3 RPG - 2.9 APG -
Carlos Boozer - 16.7 PPG - 9.3 RPG - 2.4 APG -
Tyson Chandler - 9.7 PPG - 7 RPG - 1.1 APG -

The New Orleans Hornets will kick of the month with a trip to the Chicago Bulls

Thriller goes way of the Hornets

Image 77-72 Image

Chris Paul had an average night at the Point-Guard position scoring 14 points and dishing out 3 assists. Paul, who has just recovered from a tigh strain, sat out most of the game because of his lack of energy.
Ben Gordon scored an impressive 28 points for Chicago but he couldn't help lift them above Boozer and Chandler's excellent interior defense. 97% of Gordon's points came from outside the key.
Boozer also did well on the offensive end. With a few spectacular dunks, Carlos jammed home 13 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. His defensive colleague Chandler got 6 points and 9 rebounds.
Andres Nocioni had a few vital defensive blunders and was responsible for 3 unforced errors. Nevertheless, he got 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.
New Orleans managed to keep Big Ben Wallace quite, limiting him to 8 points and 8 rebounds. Sweetney couldn't produce anything of the bench either and so New Orleans came up with the close win.

Kobe Sinks Hornets with 36 Points and 15 Rebounds

Image 81-96 Image

Kobe Bryant was simply unstoppable in New Orleans, after getting 13 in the first quarter alone the Hornets knew they were in for a tough night. Bryant got 36 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists by the end of the night. Described as "one of the greatest players in NBA history" Bryant really showed the world of basketball what he was capable of.
Peja Stojakovic was New Orleans' best player with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists although he struck from too late in the game. Stojakovic, who is rumoured for a trade with the Clippers, did good work on both ends of the court.
Vladmir Radmanovic had a good stand-in performance for Kwame Brown with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 dishes. Radmanovic was excellent setting the screens and really opened up the whole game.
Insult to Injury was addedfor the Hornets. Literally. Tyson Chandler pulled out of the game in the first 5 minutes clutching his ankle. After going into the medical room, it was revealed Chandler suffered "ligament damage in his left foot" whilst skying for a rebound. Chandler is expected to be out for 2 games.

Paul is SuperSonics Cryptonite in Seattle

Image 79-96 Image

Chris Paul had one of the best games in his career on the Hornets trip to Seattle last night. Paul posted 45 points and distributed 16 assists. Paul needed to play well for the Hornets to make up for the loss of Tyson Chandler due to a foot injury.
Rashard Lewis was Seattle's best player with 38 points. With Ray Allen having an off-night, their was a lot hanging on young Lewis' shoulders and he handled it well, his team unfortunately couldn't.
Hilton Armstrong, the Chandler stand-in had an ok game in Seattle. The Center scored 4 points, got 6 rebounds and had 3 assists. Armstrong will need to play better though when the New Orleans are involved in the Southwest Division Showdown with the San Antonio Spurs, who are currently leading.
Ray Allen was kept quit after shooting 21% in the first half. Most of the veteran's points came in the 4th quarter but by then it was far too late. Allen eventually got 16 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists.

Butler comes off the bench and changes the game, Hornets win
1st February 2007
(11-7) NOH @ GSW (7-11)

Image 83-90 Image

Rasual Butler came off the bench and totally changed the game for his New Orleans team, playing the new-look Golden State Warriors. Butler came on when Stojakovic was struggling from the field and scored 21 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished 2 assists in the second half. It certainly opened more than a few eyes and Butler only consolidated his chance to play at the starting Small-Forward position. When asked about the current situation with Butler, Coach Connor Manning jad this to say: "Well without Rasual tonight, we wouldn't have won the game. He was excellent on the fast-break and made a few clutch plays near the end of the game. No doubt, Peja was struggling tonight, but its only one game. Rasual is a great player but he needs to show he can do it on a regular basis - I know Peja can do that."
Jason Richardson kept the hope alive for the Warriors when he posted 21 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists but towards the end of the night he began to tire and only Baron Davis could answer. Davis also played well dishin' and swishin' with 12 points and 13 assists.
Baron Davis couldn't beat his opposite position Chris Paul, which was the key-matchup for tonight's game. Paul tallied 17 points and 13 assists, moving him up to 2cnd in the Assists-Per-Game column, only Allen Iverson has handed out more. Carlos Boozer also played well inside, with 20 points and 11 rebounds - another double double for the former Jazz man.

Player Of The Game - Rasual Butler - 21pts, 3rebs, 2asst

The NBA Player Market
Find out whose hot and whose not...

A number of trades have already been pulled off this season, the biggest of the names is the Allen Iverson trade to the Denver Nuggets, which sees two of the best players in the NBA - Iverson and Anthony - team up to wreak havoc on the rest of the American Basketball World. Iverson was the hottest prospect at the start of the season, but now the ratings have all changed. With LeBron James of the Clevland Cavaliers leading the way, the offers have come in fast and sharp for one of the NBA's best players.
Most Wanted Men:
1. LeBron James - Cleveland Cavaliers - 37 Offers
2. Dwight Howard - Orlando Magic - 31 Offers
3. Pau Gasol - Memphis Grizzlies - 30 Offers
4. Dwyane Wade - Miami Heat - 28 Offers
5. Chris Paul - New Orleans Hornets - 23 Offers
6. Chris Bosh - Toronto Raptors - 21 Offers
7. Kobe Braynt - Los Angeles Lakers - 19 Offers
8. Andrei Kirilenko - Utah Jazz - 15 Offers
9. Elton Brand - Los Angeles Clippers - 13 Offers
10. Jason Richardson - Golden State Warriors - 12 Offers

Surprisingly, none of the Top 10 Most Wanted Players have moved from their current clubs, although there has been plenty of rumours flying around; Pau Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies reportedly turned down an offer from the Miami Heat which would have seen Jason Williams and Udonis Haslem head to Memphis. Hornet's Chris Paul has turned down offers from the Seattle Supersonics, Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers deal would see Paul and Butler swap addresess with Lamar Odom and Smush Parker. However, its hard to believe the Lakers giving up one of their franchise players in Lamar Odom and primary Point-Guard Smush Parker for the deal.
Chris Bosh's talked about trade was perhaps "delayed" when Elton Brand broke three of his left fingers in a deal which would have seen Bosh, Mo Peterson, Elton Brand and Corey Maggette all involved. Many rumours say that Bosh is still in talks with many clubs.

Paul's Swishin 'n' Dishin give Hornets easy win over Cleveland
(10-9) CLE @ NOK (12-7)

Image 102-77 Image

Chris Paul, increasingly becoming one of the best Point-Guards in the whole NBA, had a career night for New Orleans. Paul had 13 points in the first quarter alone and continued his excellent form when he posted 34 points and handed out 19 assists when LeBron James & co. came to town. Every single starter on the Hornets team posted double digits in the scoring column, Kareem Rush the next highest with 18.
Cleveland could get nothing going offensively, so they gave the ball to LeBron James and got out of the way. The only problem was, he was the only player on the whole Cavaliers team that could do anything near the hoop. LBJ23 was the only Cleveland player to get double digit scoring last night with 33 points.
Tyson Chandler returned from injury last night and more than made up for his absence in the last two games. He got 14 points which included a ferocious "and1" when he knocked Ilgauskas to the floor. Chandler also got 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Following all the talk about his starting Small-Forward position come under threat, Peja Stojakovic ensured the fans he was there to stay. Stojakovic scored 17 points, grabbed 2 rebounds and had 3 assists. Butler did once again come off the bench to score 9 points and get 4 rebounds but after missing a few easy lay-ups, Stojakovic returned to the floor to consolidate his position.

Spurred through the Heart: Hornets dramatic loss to San Antonio
14th December 2006
(14-9) SAS @ NOK (13-7)

Image 77-82 Image

With a few vital three pointers and game changing steals, the San Antonio Spurs were able to end the 3 game winning streak of Southwest rivals, the New Orleans Hornets. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combined and did more than thy expected to when Tyson Chandler and Carlos Boozer really shut down go-to-man Tim Duncan. Ginobili posted 17 points, 1 rebound and 3 assists whilst teammate Parker tallied 15 points a rebound and 12 distributions.
Peja Stojakovic's late run of three pointers gave the Hornets some hope but good free throw nshooting from the Spurs sealed the win. Stojakovic shot 71% from the three point line ad scored 27 points - the highest scoring player in the game. Chris Paul has seen better nights in New Orleans, he got only 14 points but he did manage to keep his brilliant assist ratio up with 11 dishes.
Tyson Chandler dominated the game early on for his team with powerful dunks inside and hustle plays to come up with the ball but as the game went on and a few Tim Diuncan rejections, the Spurs were able to pull away proving "Attack starts from Defense"
Despite getting on of the hardest opponents of the whole league out of the way, the Hornets schedule doesn't get any easier. Tonight they face another one of their Southwest rivals the Dallas Mavericks. Will the Hornets be able to shut down the Mavs when Dirk & company come to town?

Hornets loose two straight in Mavericks Battle
16th December 2006
(14-9) DAL @ NOK (13-8)

Image 88-97 Image

The Dallas Mavericks, who currently sit one place above the Hornets, came to New Orleans looking to enlarge the gap between themselves and decrease the gap between leaders San Antonio. With a loss to the Spurs last week, New Orleans would have liked to get back to winning ways. The Mavericks on the other hand had other ideas. When they got off to an early 10-2 lead, the silence inside New Orleans Arena was deafening. As the game went on, New Orleans clawed themselves back thatnks to 42 points from Point-Guard Chris Paul. Paul also handed out 7 assists two nights ago.
Josh Howard was the high point man for his visiting Dallas team notching up 24. Howard also got 2 rebounds and 3 assists despite sitting on the bench for the whole 1st quarter. Dallas were only helped by Dirk Nowitzki's performance. The German Shooting Machine got 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists - 3 short of a double double. Despite his dissapointment of not being as effective on the offeensive end as he would have wanted, Nowitzki was very unselfish and fed the pass that lead up to some crucial baskets.
Carlos Boozer was the only other [player whose heart was on the court for the New Hornets, he shot 100% and got 16 points. Boozer's stats also included 9 rebounds and 2 dishes. Mavs Pont-Guard Jason Terry also was a big factor in the game with 18 points and 12 assists. On the downside for the Mavericks, starting Center Eric Dampier suffered a sprained left wrist in a collision with Tyson Chandler and is expected to be out for 2 weeks. Nevertheless, it was worth the pain by the end of the night with a satisfyng win for visiting Dallas.

Tough loss, though it would have been quite the upset if you had won. May I ask if you plan on DBF editting some trades with big name player? Again, great dynasty!
