Hornets fight off the Warriors
92-76
Chris Paul had a good night, getting 32 points and 14 assists. He helped turn the game around when the Hornets were shocked by the early 14-3 lead Golden State obtained.
New Signing Al Harrington had an excellent debut getting 10 points in the first quarter and later adding 5 more. He also pulled down 6 rebounds for the night.
Carlos Boozer's career night in rebounding helped New Orleans on their way, pulling down 18 and putting up 12 points on offense.
Jason Richardson was the hight point man for the Warriors, after a quite 1st half. He sunk 19 points, assisted by Baron Davis who's stats included 14 points and 10 assists.
Tyson Chandler stand-in Hilton Armstrong played extremely well on both ends of the court. 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Kukoc's Buzzer Beater sinks Hornets
93-91
Toni Kukoc only had 10 points last night, but he got the vital one. After some great work by Jason Richardson, the ball found its way to Kukoc who simply had to drop the ball in from close range at the buzzer.
Chris Paul again was the star player for the Hornets getting 40 points and 10 assists, but he was only one of two players on the Hornets team to reach double digits in the scoring tally.
Baron Davis was the high point man for the Warriors putting up 22 points and handing out 13 assists. He had a major role in the third quarter comeback for Golden State.
Jason Richardson followed close behind with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists, close to a triple-double and threw down hard on a few occasions.
Desmond Mason had his best game yet for New Orleans, getting 22 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists whilst Tyson Chandler, still struggling with a sprained toe under-performed at the Center spot.

Hornets Insider
The win at Portland last nightt moved the Nwe Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets up to 1st position in the Southwest Divison and 5th best in the NBA. At the start of the season, no-one could have predicted that a team who didn't make it to the play-offs last season and had only made one signing in the off-season, Peja Stojakovic, would lead the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks in their division.
Largely down to the fantastic play of Chris Paul, New Orleans have made a great start to the 06/07 campaign. Leading the NBA in Assists-Per-Game, Paul has really stepped up his game in only his second year in the league. Interviewed before the start of the season, Paul said "Last year, teams looked down on us, they can't do that anymore" He is certainly making this the case so far. His hopes and expecations branched further when he added "Anything less than the play-offs this season will be a dissapointment"
The introduction of Carlos Boozer at the Power-Forard position has sparked believe and excitement all around New Orleans. The 25 year old Boozer has only failed to make a double double in one performance for the Hornets this season, his great rebounding, ferocious offensive plays and determined defensive work has payed dividends for his team and proved that it was right to give up Bobby and Marc Jackson along with David West for him.
Peja Stojakovic moved from Indiana after only one season with the Pacers. Signing for the Hornets, Stojakovic was critised for his poor shooting since he left Sacramento 2 years ago. Stojakovic more than answered with a buzzer beating winner against the Spurs and 31 points over his former club - The Pacers. Peja's experience and hard-work ethic was described as "vital for the progression of the club" by the Coaching Staff.
The Hornets certainly have made an impression early on and if they can keep it up, who knows where it could take them this season...

Match Pre-View
Tomorrow night's match-up features two of the most on-form and best Power-Forwards in the NBA go toe-to-toe. Emeka Okafor for the Charlotte Bobcats and Carlos Boozer for the New Orleans Hornets.
Emeka Okafor has been rumoured many times to be leaving Charlotte for a bigger club. The Bobcats have had 5 very dissapointing season in a row and have been looked down upon for the majority of the last decade. Despite the rumours and trade talks, its still surprising to see Emeka Okafor still wearing a Bobcats jersey this season. As usual, hes being doing his business, currently averaging 19.7 PPG and 10.1 rebounds, Okafor has been one part of the Bobcats line-up who hasn't dissapointed.
Carlos Boozer, since signing his name on the Hornet's paper in early January, has shot to the top of the NBA power-forwards list. With 5 double-doubles in 7 games with New Orleans, Boozer has definently impressed everyone in the league. Defying the fan's opinion of Kenyon Martin heading for New Orleans, the Coach did his own thing and bought 25 year old Carlos Boozer. a risky, but very succesful choice.
X-Factor: Adam Morrison - Been shooting 73% from beyonnd the arc in the last 3 matches and has scored 21 points from the three point line. Capable of pulling up from almost anywhere.
Where The Game Will Be Won: The perimeter. With Okafor and Brezec in the middle, Paul, Mason and Stojakovic are gonna have to step it up.

New Orleans Tame The Bobcats
75-67
Chris Paul recieved the PLayer Of The Game award, through his double-double tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats, who simply couldn't handle him. Paul notched up 23 points and 12 assists.
Peja Stojakovic came very close to stealing the POTG as he played a huge role in last night's victory. Despite a nervy start, Peja soon found his rythm and started stroking them dwon from damn near everywhere. Totalling 23 points for his day's work, Stojakovic left the court feeling pretty happy with his performance, and so where the fans.
Primoz Brezec kept the hope alive for the visiting Bobcats but in the fourth quarter, the Hornets had stretched to a 12 point lead and there was no coming back. Brezec got 17 points and 9 rebounds in New Orleans.
Key Match-up was Emeka Okafor vs. Carlos Boozer. Boozer won this one as Okafor for once under-performed and was subbed many times by Bernie Bickerstaff. Okafor did get a double double consisting of 11 points and 12 rebounds but he couldn't throw off his marker. Boozer grabbed 13 rebounds and put up 10 points.

Next Stop : MO-TOWN
Vs.
After last nights win over the Bobcats, the Hornets moved to 5-3. Tonight, they go to Detroit to play the team with exactly the same record. The Pistons.
Since landing in Detroit one week ago, Chris Webber has lead his new team the Pistons to two straight wins. The Power-Forward has averaged 22.3 PPG and 7 rebounds. It has been clear from the start of the rumoured trade that Webber moved from Philadelphia in hope of winning Championship gold, Detroit might just be the way. The 2cnd highest paid player in the NBA is a dominating presence in the paint, but hes not the only powerhouse New Orleans will meet inside the key...
Veteran Rasheed Wallace has been struggling since his former teammate Ben Wallace left for Chicago in the summer. Now, since Webber has arrived, the confidence is clearly visible. Wallace has been putting in strong performances including a 38 point game which helped his team to victory. It si expected that Chris Webber will be played in the Power-Forward position and Rasheed Wallace will be moved to Center.
With such weapions in the paint, Paul, Peja and Mason are gonna have to perform like they did against Charlotte.
Opponents: Detroit Pistons
Record: 5-3
Streak: 2W
Player On Fire: Chris Webber - 22.3 PPG, 7 RPG
Injuries: -
Where The Game Will Be Won: From the arc
Hornet's Weapon: Chris Paul

Sheed and Pistons overcome Paul's 40
98-85
Rasheed Wallace had another good game at his newly appointed Center spot following the introduction of Chris Webber. Wallace scored 15 popints but really cleaned up the glass for Detroit. His 16 rebounds helped keep the AHornets out on defense and earned his team second chance opportunties with 7 on the offensive end.
Chris Paul had a very very good night. After getting going early, he went on to score 40 points for his team to keep the scores respectable. Paul also handed out 13 assists but couldn't stop the Pistons.
Chauncey Billups was the top-scorer for the home team. He put up 17 for the night and hit vital three pointers whenever New Orleans got any kind of momentum. Billups also pulled dwon 2 defensive rebounds and distributed 8 assists.
The game was looking more and more predictable as Detroit took a 13-4 lead in the early minutes. The Hornets managed to wipe it down to 4 in the third quarter but excellent team play and good defensive work allowed Pistons to comfortably leave the Palace Of Auburn Hills with the win.

Hornets "Appaling" loss to Miami
72-109
The New Orleans Hornets Coach used term "Appaling" when he talked about his teams loss last night to the 5-5 Miami Heat. "Even though Wade played extremely well, there is no excuse for a 37 point gap between the scorelines"
Dwayne Wade did indeed have an unbelievable game. The 2006 Finals MVP scored a season-high 34 points, pulled down 7 rebounds and handed out 16 assists. Wade scored 13 points in the first quarter alone and by the 3rd quarter, the home fans were already pouring out of Hornets Arena in New Orleans.
The only thing the Hornets could take out of the game was the good performance by Carlos Boozer. Despite the fact his team were getting hammered, he kept up the defensive intensity and earned himself a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Peja Stojakovic carried on his good shooting from last ngiht's game against the Timberwolves in the first half. He dropped in 21 points before he couldn't buy a basket in the second half.

Best Team In The NBA
-- The Indiana Pacers [10-2]
Following their criticised trade with the Golden State Warriors, the Indiana Pacers have skyrocketed to the top of the Nba. After a terrible 0-2 start to the 06/07 campaign, the Pacers dealt with the Warriors and made believers out of the doubters.
Worst Team In The NBA
-- The Atlanta Hawks [1-10]
The Hawks have really started off the season with a string of bad luck. With Shelden Williams and Josh Smith sidelined early in the season, Atlanta not only lost their two best players, but a lot of ground in the road to the play-offs. Atlanta were 80/1 to reach the play-offs before their injury plagued start, now, the poorest team in the Nba are going to have to do something drastic to turn their season around

Tyson Chandler had a good game on his return to full fitness. The Hornets Center struggled through the past few games with a pulled calf. Chandler got 17 points and 5 rebounds.
On the vital play for the Hornets, Paul held the ball and waited for the clock to tick. He then played a nice give-and-go with Peja Stojakovic and set up Boozer for the powerful dunk. With 4 seconds left, the Timberwolves charged up court and found Randy Foye just inside the 3 point line. With 2 seconds left, Foye shot the jumper but missed the rim into the grateful hands of Tyson Chandler.
