First Divac, then Webber? If it's for a year or two, I wouldn't really mind seeing Webber in LA, his passing ability isn't something that's going to go away with age.

Edit: News has it Bryant called Webber, this could become interesting. :)

With everyone talking about Detroit being all but a done deal it wouldn't surprise me to see him go the other way and head to LA. In any event, it seems it will come down to Detroit and Los Angeles. I guess since the Magic have come up we could consider them a long shot but everyone else would appear to be out of the running.

Looks like it's Detroit after all: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2731833

I wonder what'll their starting lineup be...

Assuming everything in that article goes as planned, HUGE props to Joe Dumars. Picking up Webber and exchanging Nazr for Jaric... great move! I would have preferred a Bonzi Wells or a Mo-Pete instead, but Jaric should fit in fine with a backup role here. While it isn't as much of a 'blockbuster' as the Rasheed Wallace trade a couple years ago, this move could really give the Pistons that extra push that they've obviously needed this season to compete for a title.

Well, if he stays healthy, i believe he could average around 17ppg+8 rebounds, which would help them quite a lot. But...keeping it real: he'll end up being on injured list before the playoffs.

17ppg is way too high considering the Pistons lineup with Rip, Chauncey, Wallace, and Prince. He could be starting alongside Wallace, which doesn't hurt offensively, but defensively, he'll always be a liability.

I dunno, I'm still not convinced in seeing the Pistons in the east finals. The Magic, Wizards, Bulls and Cavs could be right up there, really.

Even without Webber, I'd rank the Pistons ahead of the Magic, Wizards and Cavs. Rip, Billups, Prince and Rasheed is still one hell of a core of a team.

I agree, Detroit is still an elite team, and being in the east makes it a bit easier. Not to mention they have alot of experience.

I'm happy to see Webber in Detroit, I think he will play well and he may surprise alot of people if he can stay healthy. I heard Flip Saunders say something along the lines of "I am expecting the 20/10 Webber" so maybe that's a sign he may be a little more involved in the offence than people think (unless Flip was referring more to health).

The thing I'm most excited to see with Webber is just him happy. He wasn't happy in Philly, and still put up 20/10, so he's definitely still a great player.

I wouldn't expect 20/10. Maybe 12/10, with a few apg as well. You have to remember Mcdyess is also there and he isn't going to lose too many minutes.

My guess if he stays healthy is something like 15/9/4. I don't think McDyess will effect his playing time a whole lot because he is barely playing 20 minutes per while Webber will start. Like usual though, [d]if[/i] Webber can stay somewhat healthy he should play 35 minutes a night, maybe close to 40 if he's healthier than we think.

He won't get 40 mpg, even if he is healthy. Detroit learned their lesson last year, they don't want to burn out before the playoffs. They will probably keep Webber's minutes to a minimum so he will be able to contribute in the playoffs.

I don't think his stats are going to go UP from what they've been in Philadelphia this year. He'll probably play 20 mpg and average about 9 pts 5 rebs.

Why do you say that? Hes home, he's happy and he's a definite starter on a team that hasn't gotten a whole lot from their frontcourt this year. He will get alot of touches because he isn't a black hole, but a good passer and they can run plays through him from time to time.

I mean, out of their post players they have McDyess going for 5/5, Maxiell 6/3, Sheed 12/9 and Nazr 7/5. Looking at those numbers I wouldn't be suprised if he leads the frontcourt in scoring, rebounding and passing. I really can't see him playing any less than 30mpg, unless he's injured.

i think it was a smart decision for Webber to stay in the EAST. though i do find it contradictory that he mentioned he was in it for the ring now, is willing to be a team player but yet he still wants to be a starter (in his interview on TNT with Smith & Barkley)

Webber-Pistons is a weird fit. any team can use Webber's great passing skills but his health is still in question. and as much as Webber is claiming to be a team player, throughout his career he always dominated the ball. maybe things will change now that he's going to a contender. after the honeymoon period ends, i can see it now- with 2 volatile personalities in Webber and Rasheed, there's bound to be a blowup sooner then later

i'm not so sure about this. first off i don't think Detroit exactly knows how much is left in Webber's tank/how effective he can be. the only way to find out is to give him minutes, play him 30+ in a back to backs, see if he can sustain a decent level of play

even if Webber is an acomplished player and Detroit is a veteran-laden squad, for someone that's going to ba a big contributor to a championship contender (arriving mid-season no less), he's going to have to get a lot of minutes

Jaric has been an average player at best.. when coming off the bench. so maybe he'll do better in Detroit. so much for all that hype about Delfino lol

Heh, maybe Webber & McDyess can compare microfracture surgery scars. They both had the exact operation that slowed down their careers.

I think Webber also played with Rasheed back on the Washington Bullets. Good times.

Man that doesn't look right. Anyway, hope C-Webb has some sort of lift to his game and does well with the Pistons.
