Gilbert Arenas 60 points on Lakers

Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:33 pm

Geez Fakers, can you play some DEFENSE!?

Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:34 pm

I heart Gilbert *bandwagons*

Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:37 pm

wasn't insanely spectacular, he had 21 points off freebies..
Just consistently scoring the whole game..

Wasn't like he scored 20 straight points, or like 50 in a half...

But gosh, thats why i believe some1 will get a 70point game this season...

Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:39 pm

Especially when you get called for a foul for breathing on someone. I wonder how many free throws the Wizards got. 56?

Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:43 pm

Gilbert is the first player to get 60 points since Kobe's 81 point game.

Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:48 pm

This comes as no suprise. Players are scoring more and more as of late. I really don't think it warranted a new thread(Nothing against Gilbert). However it was a great performance and a great game in general. Would of loved to see two players with fifty in the one game.

Lakers score 46 in the 4th :o

Is this an alternate jersey for the Wizards?
Anyway... damn... this dunk looked gay when Malone did it, and it still does even if Caron does it.

Didn't Kobe defend Arenas most of the time? Wasn't he supposed to be one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league? Gil' left him behind most of the time. But then again, there's no energy left for defense when you're going all out on offense. Anyway, whoa on the 46 in the fourth.

Mon Dec 18, 2006 8:50 pm

It was Parker, Jordan and Sasha defending him for most of the game and they commited loads of reach-in fouls, and Kobe ask Phil to let him guard Arenas when Kobe was having 5 PFs, and you know the result, it was basically impossible to do so on this night without giving up a foul.

Mon Dec 18, 2006 9:54 pm

Damn. The game was on Fox Sports Net here and I was watching it a little before I went to bed. It was like the beginning of the 3rd and Kobe had like 15 and Gilbert had 16 so I figured it'd be another mediocre performance by both, you know maybe 30 points a piece (plus it was 11:00 pm and I had school). So I went to bed. Then I heard my dad this morning like "WOW! WOW! Arenas had 60 points and they won.:

That's the second time I slept on a Wizards-Lakers game. The first time I went to sleep and Kobe put 55 on Jordan.

Congratulations on Arenas for his 60 point game...obviously it's a career high for him. (Y) I don't stay up for those West Coast games since I need to be up early in the morning so I missed the conclusion , wasn't aware it went into OT until I checked the box score this morning.

I love it when Laker fans complain about officiating! Bravo!

let me add to this...

Gilbert is the first player to score 60 pts against the lakers since Wilt Chamerlain when he did it 40 yrs ago.

He is also the first wizard to score 50+ pts since MJ.

Has anyone mentioned that Gilberts' 60 is a franchise record? :|

Anyway, it was an exciting game and a great performance by Arenas, I loved the bow at the end

True...but that's exactly how Kobe got his 81 in Toronto. Kobe had 20+ points off just free throws and eventually Toronto just had to let him shoot out there.

Yep, very true. Sadly, that's just how the league officiates now. But for the most part, the fouls were very consistent, and the Lakers defense was mostly suicide steals and complete guesswork. The Laker "magic" looked like it might come through at the end of the 4th, but I'm glad to see the Wiz pull it out on the road.

I'm assuming the Lakers have a lot of road games coming up. Seems like every game of theirs I've watched (and i've watched nearly all of them) have been at home.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned that it was a high scoring game that was put into overtime. Personally, it dulls down the 60 point achievement, but regardless, congrats to Gilbert.

Tue Dec 19, 2006 9:57 am

Impresive, but considering the D and the overtime not super spectacular.

EDIT:
I dont want to make a new thread, but I was wondering when do I get the ability to write something under my name and over the avatar. Im too lazy to search through the history...

Not exactly since Toronto just made stupid fouls in the last 4 minutes or so. But still if the Lakers played SOME DEFENSE then maybe the Wizards would get around 45 free throws.

Tue Dec 19, 2006 9:59 am

right... who pissed off Arenas this time?

Since you've been here for more than a year, you can go to your Profile and add a quote there.

not spectacular? not a surprise?

what the fuck are you laker cocksuckers on?

this isn't like some team letting Robinson/Geroge Gervin score at will so he can win the scoring title

then to read bryant's crticism of Arenas shot selection

you all should get a room

Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:45 pm

I'm wondering what this thread would look like if Lebron had dropped the 60.

Congrats to Gilbert, who remains to be super underrated.

Tue Dec 19, 2006 3:09 pm

he also set an NBA record for most points scored in OT- 16points... it was 15 by earl boykins 2 yrs ago
