touche, but this is his only his 2nd season and his first taste at starting.

True, only time will tell. I've been a Warrick fan since Syracuse (Syracuse, UNC were my favorites) but I think he's too much of a tweener when it comes to the NBA game. He is barely tall enough, he's quick and athletic but he just plain and simple isn't strong. If he could get some range on his jumpshot and improve his ballhandling, he could be a pretty dominant small forward - Think Rashard Lewis + Shawn Marion (minus 3 point range)

and he's got nothing to show for it.....the guy just isn't a winner. He got badly outhustled by Dirk Nowitzki in Rnd 1.

You would have to agree that despite being a 50 win team last year the Grizzlies didn't have a whole lot behind Gasol. Match him up with the best in the West (that year), possibly the most balanced team in the league and one of the best big men in the game and you get losses. I think is pretty unfair to say he isn't a winner, Memphis has always been mediocre and Gasol has always lacked a supporting cast.

When the Grizzlies made their first appearance in the postseason in 2004, they were swept by the Spurs. Honestly I wouldn't expect anything less from a great Spurs team that beat the Grizzlies in every matchup and every aspect of the game. It didn't help that Gasol had to battle Tim Duncan down low either. His supporting cast didn't show up, James Posey played alright but 12.5ppg in the playofs just isn't second option option material. Jason Williams and Bonzi Wells didn't do a whole lot, both under there season averages in most major catagories.

Then there was 2005, being swept by a super talented Phoenix Suns team. Jason Williams played well, but outside of Pau and Williams there was Mike Miller at 12ppg and pretty much nothing else, while the rest of the team didn't do anything. James Posey was a let down, and Shane Battier, while rebounding very well, couldn't get anything to drop.

Then there was this year, we all know how that turned out. Yet another sweep, and probably the worst backup Gasol has had. Gasol lead the team with 20ppg, while Eddie Jones came in at second with 10ppg. Gasol doubled the scoring average of his second option. The rest of the team came in all under 10ppg. The Mavericks marched all the way to game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Let me remind you that 2 of the 3 teams the Grizzlies have faced in their first 3 postseason appearance have advanced to at least the Western Conference Finals, while the Spurs were beaten in the second round by eventual Western Conference Champion Los Angeles Lakers. Then lets see who Pau Gasol was going up against, backup up in the post by the under achieving Stromile Swift and Lorenzon Wright.

Playoff Stats:

2004 vs San Antonio Spurs: Tim Duncan - 22.1ppg | 11.2rpg | 3.2apg | 2.0bpg

2005 vs Phoenix Suns: Amare Stoudemire - 29.9ppg | 10.7rpg | 1.2apg | 2.0bpg

2006 vs Dallas Mavericks: Dirk Nowitzki - 27.0ppg | 11.7rpg | 2.9apg | 1.6bpg

In my opinion, the Grizzlies should have been swept every single year, as they did. Gasol had to battle with no other post presence against 3 potential HOF's (2 are locks, Stoudemire dependant on return from injury) and 3 of the best teams in the entire league. No matter how talented Pau Gasol is, theres no way those lowly Grizzlies would of beaten any of these teams.

Deron Williams continues to go crazy with 20/7/13... Jazz are scary.

Melo with 29/9/3 at the start of 4th, I say he goes for 34/11/4 (Y)

Sonics beat the Clippers  something must be really wrong with LA atm.

not really....they lost an "away" game against the LAL (8-3) and now they lose a home game on the 2nd night of a back to back against a Sonics team that wins games it shouldnt and loses game it should win.

I'm telling you that Deron Williams will be MIP. Look at the numbers his putting up for a sophomore and compared to last seasons

Well, it seems as though Orlando's end of season run was no fluke, as they've picked up where they've left off. 11-4, top of the East and winning w/o Grant Hill (who sits out 2nd game of back to backs). 21 & 16 for Howard, he's going to the All-Star game for sure.

Game Leaders
Points K. Garnett 19
Rebounds K. Garnett 12
Assists K. Garnett 3
Steals K. Garnett 3
Blocks K. Garnett 0

KG does it all and they still lose.

I caught the end of the wolves - mavs game on TVU and I was suprised to see Blount nail a 3 late in the game to tie it up. Big come back by the wolves down by 20 and nearly got over the line it looks like Foye has found himself 15 points and 17 points in the last 2 games in big last quarter efforts.

wtf how did Blount ever wind up with the ball behind the 3 pt line and what made him think he could make a 3??

oh I read something on hoopshype.com about how the "veteran point guard" they wanted to sign could've been Penny... I got all excited hoping he's be back in the league... but then I went over to realgm.com and they said they signed Derek Anderson. I was a little disappointed.

and that Lebron dunk is RIDICULOUS. if he didn't have such a big ego his rookie year, he could've been the best dunk champion in the last 15 years... well, might not have topped Carter in 2000, but he had a chance to.

I don't know why you guys are so surprised the Mark Blount hit a 3. He has a career 3 point percentage of 50%! :)

Lol, since when did Derek Anderson become a Bobcat? LINK

I didn't even know he became part of Charlotte's roster until just today when watching highlights of the Charlotte-Detroit game.

On a side note, at Okafor on the Bobcat's promotional page.

hype is a funny thing.....last season Diogu and Frye were getting plenty of praise for nothing more than some good performances. Both were labelled "untradeable" to some extent and now Diogu doesn't quite fit into the Warriors plans (even though he's injured) and Frye is getting badly outplayed by David Lee who will eat into his minutes after return from injury.

To think Warriors didnt want to give up Diogu to get Artest.

AI didn't play for Philadelphia , and Philadelphia blew a 20 point lead as the Wizards ended up winning the game. During the game , the Wizards broadcasters repeatedly referenced the possibility that they would never see Iverson in a Sixers uniform again this year. If Iverson ends up being traded , I wonder where he ends up.

completely off-topic question, but does anybody know what's the name of the shoes Chris Paul wears? I've seen him at home with a white shoe with indigo trim while away I've seen him with this one that's all black with a little yellow at the bottom

has anyone seen Tim Duncan bank the ball this season? I've seen 5 Spurs games and not once do i remember him banking it (except for a layup). Hell he doesn't even shoot from the angles anymore.
