^^

Miller is very good in his role as 6th man. I say Gay will play off the bench up until mid-late November, and Miller will slot back into his 6th man role, still getting around 30 mpg though. In that time Gay has had a chance to adjust to NBA play without being fully immersed in it, so that when he plays plenty of minutes as a starter with more responsibility, he would have a had some good previous experience and would know understand the game better rather than starting straight away and having the confidence knocked out of him because he is still adjusting. I think that Rudy Gay is very capable of putting up 16/6/3 this year in the Grizzlies system.

I think Rudy Gay will put up 8/3/1 this season....my best case scenario for him is 11/4/2....

just some preliminary looks at how it will end up....

All-Rookie 1st Team:
Morrison, Roy, Foye, Sh. Williams, Ty Thomas

All-Rookie 2nd Team:
Rondo, Garbajosa, Bargnani, Anthony Parker, Gay

Top 5 Other Rookies likely to crack into All-Rookie Teams:
Brewer, Redick, Marcus Williams, Aldridge, Carney

I hope I didn't forget anyone....this will definitely change depending on injury, trades, performance, etc....but as you can see, this year's crop of rookies is really deep....not the star power like a Duncan, James, Melo, etc, but good nonetheless....

Anthony Parker isn't a rookie... He played one very short season in Philly in the late 90s, so I'd put Brewer in the second team. That guy's honestly one of the underrated players in the draft.

I expect to see Rudy put up 13, 4 and 3. He has to put try putting up double figures mostly every game because the Grizzlies really have no go-to-guy with Pau out. So, its going to have to be a combination of Stoudamire, Miller, EJ and Gay being the top scorers on the team.

Damn, Steve Novak's been ripping it up, seems like a good fit with Houston. Didn't expect much of him, but he's been getting close to 20 pts a couple times now and he should at least make the 2nd or 3rd rookie team if he ends up averaging half of that.
Seems like he's had no problems converting to the NBA 3pt line too.

Here is what I found from a poster on the Grizzlies board.

Unless otherwise stated, the players have played in 5 pre-season games up to this point.

In order of draft selection -

1. Andrea Bargnani - 11.2 ppg, 4.4 RPG, 0.4 SPG, 3P% = .294, FG% = .409, TO = 1.0 in 17.8 minutes.

2. LaMarcus Aldridge - Has not played any preseason games.

3. Adam Morrison - 9.8 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 0 SPG, 0 BPG, 3P% = .400, FG% = .317, TO = 1.6 in 25.8 minutes.

4. Tyrus Thomas - 10.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.0 SPG, 1 APG, 3P% = 0 , FG% = .486, TO = 2.6 in 21.6 minutes.

5. Shelden Williams - 8.3 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 0.8 BPG in 23 minutes, 3P% = 0, FG % = .405, TO = 1.67 (also has played 6 games).

6. Brandon Roy - 15.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1 SPG in 36.5 minutes, 3P% = .182, FG% = .467, TO = 3.75 (only played 4 games).

7. Randy Foye - 6.5 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 0.3 APG, 0.8 SPG. 3P% = .157, FG% = .400 in 16.8 minutes, TO = 1.5 (has played 6 games).

8. Rudy Gay - 14.6 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.2 SPG 1.6 BPG, 3P% = .400, FG% = .413, TO = 2.6 in 28 minutes.

Highlights

So as of now, Gay is second in scoring among the draftees behind Brandon Roy in Portland who is averaging over 8 more minutes per game than Rudy.

He's second in steals behind Tyrus Thomas.

5th in rebounding behind (Bargnani, Williams, and Thomas - big men) and Brandon Roy.

Tied for 1st in 3 point percentage with Adam Morrison.

3rd in overall FG% behind Brandon Roy and Tyrus Thomas.

Turnovers are a bit high.

Roy has high turnovers but he handles the ball more.

Tyrus Thomas' turnover numbers need to come down as well.

2nd in scoring, 2nd in steals, 5th in rebounding, tied for 1st in 3P% and 3rd in FG%.

So as of right now, I'm not disappointed that they dealt Battier for Gay and Swift. And yes, I know that he is putting up these type of numbers against people that probably won't play that much during the season, but its not bad start if you ask me.

Morrison still hasn't shown me that he can do other things other than scoring. Brandon Roy for ROY.

If Tyrus Thomas doesn't win it due to Chicago's deep roster, he will become the best player out of this draft. Straight up.

Roy isnt avreging very many points cause he isnt attempting that many shots while playing. in the last pre-season game (i think) he had 2 pts @ half time and he did play lots of minutes then started attemting shots in the 2nd half and took over and ended the game with 18 or so.

Roy for ROY as my sig says :D

Morrison is going to be playing off the bench so i think it kinda ruins his chances unless he starts.

I'm all for morrison but you guys need to have millsap in that list he's really been playing good for a 2nd round pick, check out his stats please and then add him to your list, he's an animal

i also say Kobe for rookie of the year, i mean he is a rookie with #24 isn't he??? if that's a choice i'm going for kobe i'd like to see him drop 90 with #24

There's no clear-cut winner for ROY at this point. Everybody has been inconsistent. Now that Andrea Bargnani's getting minutes and being productive, he has a chance to be in the running. After the All-Star break, it'll become clear of narrowing down the prospective candidates.

Roy will take it,but in the meantime he's injured,so we've got Millsapplaying ROYlike,Gay taking command with Pau sidelined,Bargnani is getting better,Foye,Rondo,Morrison,JJ,Marcus Williams all playing good.

But LaMarcus Alridge was my favorite even before he was drafted, and he's proven ROY worthy, especially with Brandon out.
