Seriously, what is he doing? Don't get me wrong, I have never been and I will never be a big fan of Chris Webber but there is something going extremely wrong this season and it's not Webber's fault. Last season proved that he is without a doubt the Sixers' 2nd option (not Korver, Iguodala or anyone else) as he took quite some weight off of Iverson's shoulders. Webber gets all my respect for adapting to his role as the 2nd fiddle and bouncing back from his injury with a 20-10-season. Now that his knee is better than ever since he got surgery he only gets to play 29 MPG and it seems like he doesn't even play any kind of role in Cheek's system. Most of the time he gets benched for all of the fourth quarter which is the worst thing you can do to a player like him. Last night Cheeks started Shavlik Randolph as PF and Webber didn't play at all. And then Cheeks claims that he's doing everything possible to help the team succeed and that in this case Webber should not take it personal. So that means that Webber couldn't help the team and that they're better off without him. Yeah sure, who wants a 20-10 PF anyway, pfft.

Isn't Sacramento Bee with that false rumor? I read yesterday that Webber denied requesting a trade.

I'd love to see the Sixers trade Cwebb.. I think that he can't function in the Sixers since AI1 and AI2 is getting the spotlights.. And Cwebb is a type of player who really wants the spotlight to be on him.. I think they should trade Cwebb for like KG but i doubt the Wolves would even consider that..

Flash did you read the post? Cwebb last year was perfectly good as a #2 option on the sixers...a 20-10 season for a PF with knee problems and probably not too many years away from retirement isnt bad at all. Iguodala gets the spotlight because he's flashy..and AI to me is the only reason that team ever wins. Its like what they used to say about Jordan "you cant stop him, you can only contain him." Cwebb getting the spotlight at this point in his career would just be ridiculous. He's not the player he used t be no, but he's an excellent roleplayer and has matured enough to understand that and perform.

Honestly, I watched the Clips game last night, and Randolph was very productive in his place. I think they could bring him off the bench to bring some points for the 2nd unit and give AI a rest. Off the bench, Korver and Green are the only scoring options.

Iverson should've traded in the summer. They're in the same position as Minnesota where they are not rebuilding nor are they gonna make a run in the playoffs and they both have two excellent All-Stars worthy of a championship and they should really do it at another team.

Cwebb is untradeable, philly are gonna have to stick with him for a few more years unless a buyout is on the cards which is highly unlikely

I only team i can think of that the sixers has a CHANCE of trading with is the Knicks, and even then it's hard to match the salary. CWeb is making 20+million. Unless the sixers want Jerome James, Malik Rose, and Perhaps Crawford? Sixers probably won't want Francis or Marbury.

Other teams MAY want Webber, but they just don't that kind of players with salary like Webber's.

Either way, sixers are running out of time. Iverson isn't getting any younger, and if they want to make a push, it's now.

I didn't make this thread to discuss possible trades or to discuss Webber because it's absolutely obvious that he's the 2nd best player on the roster and should spend as much time as possible on the court. Last season showed that he's the 2nd option the Sixers are in desperate need for.
I made this thread to discuss Mo Cheeks' decision making. Benching Webber for most of the time and not letting him play during fourth quarters doesn't make any sense at all and is certainly not going to help the team.

sixers mngmt sux... kevin ollie being a starter is the worst thing in the nba...he shouldnt even be in the league...that clearly shows how poor they manage the team.. i dont know..i just hate it when all they know is blame iverson and webber

It's definitely a strange decision given his performance last year and one that can't really be justified by the team's record. If the Sixers were racking up wins like the Jazz have been so far this season then you could of course defend the move as being odd but having no real negative effect on the team. C-Webb shouldn't be the focus of the Sixers or any team at this stage of his career but he's still capable of making a much bigger contribution given the opportunity. It's puzzling that Cheeks doesn't want to give him that opportunity since it's hardly about to hurt the team.

i don't think it's personal against webber, or cheeks making a bonehead mistake, this usually happens right before a player is traded when he doesn't know he's being shopped, and webber fits the scenario. if they let him know he would be very vocal and maybe disruptive and could kill a deal. not playing him leaves a better chance of him not aggravating an injury.

if not then it may be something personal or just a bonehead move.

^Definetely a good explaination, never thought about it that way. I always thought Cheeks doesn't let Webber play because he's not happy with his game and that's why they'll probably trade him in the near future. But your explaination makes a lot more sense.

Couldn't agree more. King is definetely one of the worst GMs any professional sports team has ever had. It sickens me that they always blame Iverson when things go wrong when it's actually the supporting cast or the lack thereof that makes the Sixers a losing team.
