Who do you love to watch, and why?

Thu Nov 02, 2006 6:24 pm

I was wondering who you guys love to watch in the NBA, and why is that? There are plenty of people out there that say that they really love to watch Kobe Bryant or Vince Carter play, but the list goes deeper than that.

Heres my list:

Tracy McGrady, SF, Houston Rockets - If theres one "type" of player I love to watch its an athletic swingman will skills around the board. Tracy McGrady is exactly that. He can dribble, pass, rebound, play defence and score as well as any swingman in the league. He has that swagger about him, that confidence that he is the best player on the court at all times. The way he moves with the ball, slowly, then suddenly speeds up, slashes between two hopeless defenders and finishes with the jam or a nice dish is really something special to watch.

Carmelo Anthony, SF, Denver Nuggets - Carmelo is a guy who no matter where you put him on offence, he will get you points. He is as dengerous posting up as he is shooting those deep 2's. He is one of the better finishers in the league, and while not being incredibly quick, he always seems to finish a play. I love the hesitation dribble and the step back jumpers he does, it always seems like theres no one around him when he shoots.

Desmond Mason, SF, New Orleans Hornets - I am yet to see Desmond play as a Hornet, but during his time as a Sonic and Buck he was a very exciting player to watch. He has a great midrange jumper, but finishes even better inside. Who doesn't like to see an undersized forward rise up and jam on anyone in his path? He's quick, he can jump, and the fact that he can shoot the ball helps him get inside, because players have to respect that. He makes the most of his minutes and really brings the crowd more into the game.

Dwight Howard, PF, Orlando Magic - From the first game I saw him play, I have been amazed by this guys strength and ability at such a young age. Already arguably the best rebounder in the NBA, he isn't just only a huge defensive force, but he is already a good scorer. He jumps so high and is so strong and dominant in the post, hardly anyone can stop him. Dwight puts on a show both defensively and offensively in every game he plays in. Whether its sending shots flying into the crowd or putting down windmills on the fast break, he's a joy to watch. Another great thing about him is his attitude.

Amare Stoudemire, PF, Phoenix Suns - Amare is already looking great just a season after his knee surgery. He still has alot of his bounce and quickness, and will reject anybody in the league with his fantastic anticipation and timing. He's another guy with a great attitude, and thats always a good thing. I love the way he plays with as much power as anyone, but its power with finesse. The guy can dunk on anybody, block anybody, and man handle opposition in only his 5th year in the league.

Steve Nash, PG, Phoenix Suns - To me, he is the most exciting player to watch on the most exciting team in the NBA. No dunks, no amazing blocked shots, no power... this guy is all team. He will find any player wide open on every play. The guy makes the Phoenix Suns exciting. He is the reason they are contenders. Period. The way he comes down the court with not a care in the world, then suddenly flicks a high lob to a cutting Shawn Marion for the big jam is amazing to watch. Another great thing about Steve is if his teammates are having an offnight, he will go for 25+ to help out.

Honorable Mention: Allen Iverson, Rudy Gay, LeBron James, Paul Pierce, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Gilert Arenas, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Garnett, Elton Brand, Tyrus Thomas

I admire Tim Duncan's fundamentals.

I respect Steve Nash's sportsmanship, his off the court work on charities especially in Canada.

I have a lot of respect for Duncan and KG. Their attitude towards the game is something missing in a lot of the players these days. They are great role models.

I'm starting to like Carmelo. He has stepped up his game this offseason. Great work with the national team.

Attitude-wise, Duncan and Yao.

I also admire players with good work ethic and professionalism.

Thu Nov 02, 2006 7:29 pm

Duncan for his Fundamentals and never ending effort in the game as Jugs said above.

Kevin Garnett also because he tries hard every year to try get a championship. This is one of the players in the NBA thats NEEDS to get a ring and deserves it.

grant hill. could've just stayed home with his 93 mil, but he honored his contract. almost cost him his life too.

i admire nenad krstic, i rekon he did good to not lose focus after being drafted by the nets and not playing for a few years and now developing into one of the best centres in the nba

I admire yao because he handles his critics very well.

Sorry guys, "admire" was completely the wrong word. edited.

Well 3 of the guys on my list are retired, but here it is anyways..
The players i love to watch are Michael Jordan, Steve Kerr, John Stockton, Steve Nash, Josh Howard, Tim Duncan and Kirk Hinrich..

Jordan, Stockton and Duncan have all revolutionised theyre positions, and in Jordans case, the sport itself. All of the players above can all take over games with theyre scoring (except probably Kerr  but i still love him), except all maintain a 'team first' mentality. I just love to watch all of these guys play, because they love what they do, and go and give 110% night in and night out.

Dwight Howard, this dude explodes!!! That block on Gordon today was out of this world, his head was way above the bottom of the backboard!

Dwyane Wade - has a knack like M.J, Kobe to do those acrobatic lay-ups, adjustments and circus shots that leave you amazed after you watch them.

Most of the players I love to see playing, already retired... Current players I like to see playing are Tim Duncan, Shaq and any other that brings the 90's back to the NBA.

I love watching Gilbert Arenas, LeBron James, Elton Brand, Steve Nash, Michael Redd, Kirk Hinrich and Kevin Garnett.

Those are my favorite non-Pacer players without question.

Five players I like to watch the most:

1.Kobe Bryant 2.Dwyane Wade 3.Allen Iverson 4.Steve Nash 5. Dirk Nowitzki

Fri Nov 03, 2006 7:23 am

Allen Iverson and Andre Iguodala, of course. Especially Iverson, I love how he crosses people up, drives to the basket and finishes taking hits and everything and still gets the layup to go in. Above all I love his passion. My favorite non Sixers player to watch would be Kevin Garnett because I love his versitality (sp?) and his defense.

I watch cause of kobe bryant, lebron james and dwayde. It's hard for me to watch the teams they dont play for now. I think i've become a casual nba fan.

Fri Nov 03, 2006 8:17 am

I am also a casual fan and always will be. I like watching Vince Carter because of his dunks, Kobe because of his clutchness and overall greatness, and LeBron James simply because he is the best player in the league imo.

Two rookies that I really like watching are Tyrus Thomas and Brandon Roy. I am yet to see them play but I did watch them in the tourney ladt year and they were fantatic. Tyrus has an intensity level that is far greater than most other players. His dunks and blocks are amazing. I have only seen a little of him but I love watching Roy because of his leadership, shooting skills, and overall great play.

I'll tune into a game I'd otherwise have no interest in if the following players are playing....

Dwyane Wade - In my opinion, the best player in the NBA. He proved himself to be clutch in the most crucial of sitations last year, elevating himself and his team to the championship. D-wade always makes at least one amazing play every game, so he's worth watching

Steve Nash - The best point guard in the game right now. Nash has the best vision of the court of anyone in the game, and he can score when he needs to. Although he doesnt have dunking ability, I think some of his acrobatic moves to to get to the basket are as entertaining as those of any dunker in the game; especially when he circles around the entire defense.

Amare Stoudemire - Who doesn't want to see this guy succeed? Like most people, I'm excited to see him return, and want to see how he performs. When he's on his game, he's one of my favorite players to watch

Darko Milicic - Dark has become the underdog from the '03, and I'm intrigued as to how he will perform with a chance to finally play.

Leandro Barbosa - One of the most overlooked players in the game. I think Barbosa has a good chance of being the 6th man of the year, and is probably a starter for most teams in the league. He's got amazing quickness. Anyone who says Lebron is the fastest player in the league hasn't seen Barbosa. He's amazing to watch, and he is a great personality on the court as well..

Fri Nov 03, 2006 9:07 am

Kobe because he always impresses me

Korver because he shoots the lights out

Ray Allen because he shoots the lights out AND he's athletic and quick and so versatile offensively.

I agree. Tyrus intesity makes im so fun to watch. When I watch him play, I feel like going outside and playing myself, thats how much watching him effects me, along with the other guys I mentioned too. Great personality, great player, great talent (Y)
