I think you're required to play defense on the Pistons or Miami, so i doubt Jalen will end up there.
A rebuilding team will more likely just give the ball to their younger players & take their lumps. Worse case, they get more balls for the Greg Oden lottery.
He'll probably go to a 1st round playoff team, like Denver or the Bucks. He can still flat out score by himself, so he can fit in well with a 2nd unit. And neither Denver or the Bucks win with shut-down D.
It would be fun to see him rejoin Chris Webber in Philly...maybe they can trade for Juwon Howard too!

he could go back toronto
Wed Nov 01, 2006 12:20 pm
God no.

We have a good group already. I don't care where he goes, all I care about is that I had him on my fantasy team, and then dropped him. Why the fuck did I do that? I have no idea ...

if anyone watched the pre-show before the heat bulls games, david aldridge said that there were three teams in the running. Detroit, Phoenix, and Miami. He said Detroit's interest has died down and that phoenix offered him 1.1 million and miami offered 1.5 million. Desicion is to be made by thursday at the latest.

Well he still needs a position when he comes off the bench... and he will start eventually

Not off the bench...
I dont think money will be a huge factor in his decision... it will either be to Miami for the weather, or to Detroit cos he loves it

naa...lakers will get him

Why are you trying so hard to destroy that young team? What's your problem with LA?

He sort of had his "Mike James" moment with the team during the 05-06. He would consistently get the ball, post up or dribble around the clock until there were 5 seconds left, and then nail a turnaround fadaway jumper that would make any coach cringe.
Thank god he sank most of them, but last season he played like garbage and was just a chucker that couldn't generate offence. He was a scorer that couldn't score efficiently, to be more precise.

I am a Lakers Fan.....and i feel that Rose would be the last piece right now to make the team play to their max.....

Flite wrote:What does he have to prove? Jalen started 23 of his 26 games as a Knick last season anyway, so they obviously knew what he was capable of, hence no need to risk injury (the real reason is they were gonna waive him anyway, so he didn't need minutes) or anything like that, because he had nothing to prove. Why not let the younger guys show what they are capable of?
If he had nothing to prove, why did they cut him? They could have cut someone else? It's much more logical to say that he didn't play because the club didn't want him no more?

The final piece to the 'puzzle' is for Kwame Brown to become consistent, a starting PG who be depended on to shoot the ball well and dish, Smush Parker to become our sixth man, Andrew Bynum to get a few more years under his belt and the team to gel for a little while longer... not to get Rose. All this team needs is time and patience from the fans.

Denver seems like a pretty good fit for Rose. He'll get plenty of time and shots to hoist up since J.R. Smith and Diawara are still too young to be relied on a consistent basis.
Noooo, I want DerMarr to get solid minutes this year and Jalen will only take those minutes away. Wherever Jalen goes, he won't help that team win at this point in his career.

TNT said he is going to pick either Miami or Phoenix, and he will sign by Wednesday or Thursday.
Wed Nov 01, 2006 5:59 pm
he'd be good in both teams but would contribute more for miami, my money is on the heat picking him up
Wed Nov 01, 2006 6:15 pm
If he went to Detroit, it would be pretty cool though... Cwebb and Jalen Rose at the end of Game 7 of the NBA Finals of 2008 for Detroit...
They both get taken off then the Pistons get a technical to lose the game!

Cause Cwebb calls a timeout from the bench

haha Not sure if players can call a timeout from the bench but still, that would be pretty funny...
ok, I'm finished with my day dreaming! Carry on!

Thank you...for a great laugh that is.

He will go to Phoenix. Because Phoenix have no defense like Rose.

I wouldn't mind seeing him come back home. He would be fighting with Delfino and Dupree for minutes off the bench, but thus far neither one of those two have proven they can get it done, on offense at least. And Zoom, that's not funny. I about cried that day...

The Heat are supposedly Rose's top choice at the moment so assuming they're interested there's a good chance he'll end up in Miami. It would be a fairly low risk on their part and it's something they might consider given Jason Williams is expected to be out for at least the first couple of weeks so it wouldn't surprise me too much if that came to fruition.
Thu Nov 02, 2006 1:33 am
The worst thing about Jalen is that he's actually a good defender. Once we signed him to a big contract he decided he didn't want to play defense anymore.

yep, as heard on TNT last night, Jalen Rose is "extremely close" to joining the Miami Heat - just waiting on Pat Riley's word.

Extremely close means it's never going to happen.
The Pacers are extremely close to acquiring Tracy McGrady from the Magic for Ron Artest and Jonathan Bender. Reggie Miller is extremely close to signing with New Jersey. The White Sox are extremely close to pulling off a deal for Alfonso Soriano. The Pacers are extremely close to trading center Rik Smits.

I don't find that to be true at all....seems logical that he would join the Heat, and logical that they would be pursuing him, given that Antoine is the worst SF in the history of the league.

Last time I checked AI rather improved instead of declining and Webber bounced back from a tough injury having a 20-10 season...
Anyways, I think it's going to be Detroit that gets him. I'm glad that Philly hasn't got any cap space left, otherwise our mentally-challenged GM would probably try to get Rose by offering him a contract that'd give him twice as much money as he's worth.
Thu Nov 02, 2006 3:11 am
A 6ers fan defending Webber? Never thought I'd see the day. Anyway, I can really see him going to Miami and playing with alongside the other "stars" who couldn't win anything on their own. If Larry Brown was still Detroits coach I'd say Rose in Detroit isn't even a possible, but with Flip trying to make them more offensive it COULD happen but I don't see a need for it on their part.

Then I would cry for you too if your NBA team and College teams both lose a championship to the same player within a span of 20 years... Actually, what are the odds of that happening.
And I think he's most likely going to Miami since the Heat are offering him playing time at all of the perimeter positions... I'm thinking he wants to play and contend for a ring. Miami is the place to go for Rose.
