Wow, I didn't see that coming. I have always liked Jackson and still do. I would of done the same thing if I was him, just to scare the guys away. Never thought Jamaal Tinsley would be the sort to carry a gun

Although Marquis Daniels has always looked like a bit of a crack fiend.

In case you all don't know, the Pacers have been working hard all offseason to clean up the image of the team.
Dammit, I have a lot to say here, but I actually have a lot of work to do today. It took me an hour to write that previous sentence.
I'll check back during my lucnh break.

Tinsley is a NY PG. Of course he's 'tough' and 'gangsta' and is 'keepin' it real'. What kind of a man doesn't carry a gun?
Indiana would be better off trading everyone except Granger and Saras. JO is soft and injury prone and the rest of the team is just to damn flawed and unstable to ever achieve anything.

Well...at least he wasn't masturbating at the time or firing those shots at the White House.

I never knew Tinsley was from NY. He looks like a mini version of the Dad from the Fresh Prince

or firing those shots at the White House.
bahaha. who did that again?

Ok, here's my take on the whole thing. I don't care that they all carried guns, in fact I'm very glad Jackson had a gun with him or else we could be talking about a much messier situation that ended in Jack's death. I don't care that Tinsley had weed in his car, I already know that those guys smoke a lot. I don't care that they were at a strip club at 3 in the morning, I don't care that Jack fired shots in order to end the situation, in fact that was a smart thing for him to do, it was a quick and effective way to end the situation.
What I care the most about is the fact that there were assholes who did this in the first place and tried to run over Jack with his car. I also care that they were out at 3 in the morning when they have practice at noon today, I don't care about that too much, but with the practices being as difficult as they've been so far, they should just chill at someones house and get stoned instead of going to a titty bar.
I feel bad for the Pacers front office because they've spent all this time and money trying to tell fans that attitudes will improve this season and that everything is going to be nice and peachy and then this happens.
I don't blame Jack, and I'm glad he acted the way he did, but I most CERTAINLY wish this hadn't happened.

Jackson firing shots+Tinsley having weed=more playing time for Saras

You don't care that your player had a gun and shot it into a crowd of people?

Where the hell do you get that he shot it into a crowd of people?
He shot it either at the car or in the air in order to save his own life. I would have done the same and so would you.

Wow, I can't believe that you are all admiring his gangbaning behavior. I for one cannot say that I am surprised. After watching the malice in the palice go down, it became clear to me that Jackson thinks he is a real thug. I am inclined to doubt that he had a concealed weapons permit, and I also doubt his weapon was registered. It is idiots like him that are the poster child's for anti-gun people. What a sad day. This guy has millions of dollars, yet he feels the need to act like a poverty stricken hoodlum.

I'm not trying to defend them or anything but if only people took the time to read this instead of immediately 'hating'...
"Tinsley and Daniels also had guns in their cars, and all three armed players had permits for the weapons, Mount said"
"The Pacers players said they left the club, but other club patrons followed them outside. [...] Jackson was hit in the mouth, and an individual tried to run him over with a car, Mount said. Jackson went up onto the hood of the car."
"Jackson, 28, told officers he fired his 9 mm pistol in the air in self-defense after he was slugged in the jaw and hit by a car outside the club, said Sgt. Matthew Mount [...] There were no reports of anyone being struck by the gunfire, and police did not make any immediate arrests."

Show me where anyone "admired" anything in this thread. Also, explain how this is "gangbaning behavior".

Yeah, Jack fucked up in Detroit, he admits that. He thinks he is a real thug? I'm not defending this type of behavior, but Jackson grew up in Port Arthur in a family that had no money, and he was a member of the bloods and he had to sell crack to survive. He's been shot before. If 50 Cent is a thug, Jack is most certainly a thug.
baldus_2004 wrote:I also doubt his weapon was registered.
Well, you're wrong.
All 4 of those guys were in the wrong because they were out at 3 in the morning at a strip club. They obviously knew it wasn't a safe place to be at that time of day, in a place like that, hence carrying guns. I'm glad our constitution allows people to carry guns, because at least in this instance Jack would be in a casket right now, those guys were intending to kill him. Jack defended himself in a way that didn't even result in any injuries, I'd say he handled the situation pretty well.

Whats with Americans and their hard-on for guns?
"Former Pacers great Reggie Miller can't understand why the team is standing by a guy who was out all hours at a strip club and then was "shooting it up like it's the Wild, Wild West."
LMAO
To me, if you carry a gun, and your not somebody that is authorised to do so because its part of your job...then, you're an idiot. Its that simple.

Good idea. A few guns are sure to make an unsafe place, safer.

If the guns are in the right hands, than they will make it safer.

your right. 9mm's should be standard issue for NBA players on draft night. They should get some "shooting" practice in during the offseason, perhaps with the Michigan Malitia? That would ensure future 3am strip club trips in bad areas would go off without a hitch.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Former Indiana Pacers star Reggie Miller said Tuesday he doesn't understand why Stephen Jackson's teammates are standing by him following a violent incident outside an Indianapolis strip club.
Police said Jackson fired a gun in the air in apparent self-defense early Friday after he was slugged in the mouth and struck by a car that sent him tumbling onto the hood.
Miller, who played 18 years for the Pacers and is the NBA's career leader in 3-pointers, spoke out about the incident Tuesday on Dan Patrick's ESPN Radio show.
"That's ridiculous," Miller said. "That is a black cloud. That is a punch in the gut for [team CEO] Donnie Walsh and [team president] Larry Bird.''
The Pacers have an aggressive preseason publicity campaign, with television ads and billboards featuring players and the "It's up to us" slogan.
"You shouldn't stand behind a player that is someone slapping you guys in the face during the middle of training camp being out at a strip club at 3 o'clock in the morning shooting it up like it's the Wild, Wild West."

Even Jackson, who was suspended 30 games for his role in the brawl with Detroit Pistons fans two seasons ago and often was at odds with coach Rick Carlisle last season, talked about spending a summer "soul-searching" and returning with a positive attitude.
The Pacers didn't even make it to their preseason opener before their latest public relations mess. The Pacers have rallied around Jackson, and Miller disagreed with that on Patrick's show.
"You shouldn't stand behind a player that is someone slapping you guys in the face during the middle of training camp being out at a strip club at 3 o'clock in the morning shooting it up like it's the Wild, Wild West," he said.
Miller, now a TNT basketball analyst, ended his career following the 2004-05 season. He was a five-time All-Star, led the NBA in free throw percentage five times and is No. 12 on the league's career scoring list.
wow even reggie speaking out... well i guess this is Jackson's last year as a Pacer more than likely..

Oh, honestly Reggie, fuck up. Stephen Jackson did what he had to do to save his health or life. As a major part of the Pacers, it was his obligation and commitment to the team to stay healthy. If he has to fires shots to scare of guys that would of endangered his health even further, then so be it.
I have alot of respect for Jackson despite this incident. It would be better if it never happened, but Jacks handles it the right way. He potentially saved his & others lives by scaring off some maniac hoodrats. I don't see whats so wrong about it. Stephen Jackson was bought up in a lifestyle and household that was put in those types of situations regulary, and instead of killing the retards, he scared them off. Smart move.
