Maxim lists off this generation’s top 5 modern NBA rivalries and where they see them finishing. I think they pretty much nailed it.

I would re-write the final rivalry:

#1. Isiah vs New York City

Isiah has tried his best to turn the "mecca of basketball" into one of the worst teams in recent memory, in both record & salary cap and lack of upside. Despite pleas from NY fans to fire Isiah, many posting it on their cars, he still continues to dig this team into a deeper talent debt than the US deficit. And this season he'll coach.

I know people are going to laugh when I say this, but Knicks and Bulls always put up excellent games versus eachother. As badly as either of these teams have played over the years, Knicks/Bulls games are games that I highly anticipate. Knicks have taken the Bulls leading scorer the past 2 seasons, but this year they couldn't. Anyways, just ask any Knick or Bull fan, that those games are all excellent. But stupid Ben Gordon always crushes my dreams...

Stephon Marbury vs. Larry Brown - for the year that it lasted, it beat out all others as the #1 entertainment show.

Dirk and Nash

Kobe and Shaq

You cant really call those rivalries, kobe doesnt check shaq during the game and nash will se dirk defensivly off a few screens in a game, i think Detroit Indiana is a pretty good rivalry.

I remember in the late 90s when Miami and New York were duking it out. Now that was rivalry worth watching.

The list was good, but the commentary was horrible. Also I'd list shaq vs Ben Wallace ahead of the lakers/ clippers.

yes indeed these games are always a delight, regardless of the outcome. and it is a true rivaly since both sides have won and both sides don't really like each other

seems like a lot of the NBA rivalries now are just market machines.. not true rivalries. instead of tmac vs vinsanity.. it should have been tmac vs bryant. both those guys going bonkers on each other back when tmac was still in orlando was awesome. now they play in the same conf, meaning more games. if both can stay healthy...

lol i actually agree with Matt- detroit vs indiana was a good rivalry

the best rivalries currently imo are SAS vs DAL and DET vs MIA

What about vince/Kobe? They really go hard at each other, and both are freakish athletes. Remember when they started jawing at each other?

Kobe in philly is also fun.

The NBA lacks that true player v player rivalry, but they sure are pushing LBJ/Melo/Wade.

Miami vs NYK of late 90's early this decade was awesome, if ugly basketball.

Shaq vs. Kobe is a little bit old. I don't think theres that much of a rivalry right now.
Clippers vs. Lakers is doubtful. Sure there is a rivalry since they're from the same city but it's not even close to Knicks vs. Bulls or the upcoming Spurs vs. Mavs.

What about Bruce Bowen vs. Vince Carter - He accused Bowen of trying to hurt him on purpose (Stepping under him when shooting).

how about bowen vs. pierce/carter/mcgrady/ray-allen/iverson/finley?

that little fight with Dooling going after ray was pretty eff'ed up

honestly, true player vs. player rivalrys are pretty rare these days, everything is hyped up by the media. Ray Allen vs. Kobe is always fun to watch, especially if kobe loses.

'But can any of them gamble, make a shitty Bugs Bunny movie, and play AA baseball?'

LOL
I can guess a future one-Brandon Roy VS Randy Foye.
and another one-pistons\heat. it's been 2 years they're the best in the east and the con. finalists. one time heat, one time pistons, what will be this year?

dirk vs. nash
One sings David Hasselhoff under his breath while shooting free throws. One is from America Junior…err, Canada. Both are perennial MVP candidates and will likely battle for Western Conference supremacy for years to come. Rivals or not, they're such good friends they'll probably continue to forward Evites, share hair-styling tips, and call each other to say goodnight.

The Bulls and the Pistons used to have a big rivalry and now i think it will come out again. With Big Ben moving over its gonna heat up and bring it back to MJ vs The Bad Boys days, which we all loved to watch.
