Chris Wilcox finally got a chance to start on a regular basis once he arrived in Seattle. Now he's turned that opportunity into a $24 million contract
Wilcox and the Sonics reached agreement Tuesday on a three-year deal that gives Wilcox a chance to prove his impressive 29 games with Seattle last season were no fluke.
An Eastern Conference NBA general manager tells me the Blazers are NOT actively shopping Zach Randolph right now. Whisper is the the Nuggets, who love Z-Bo and have flirted with a deal, would do a Kenyon Martin for Randolph today if Portland wanted to get it done.
Martin is down to make $11.8 million next season, and in subsequent seasons... $13m, $14.2m, $15.4m, and a $16.5m player option in 2010-11. Randolph's salaries go $12m next season, then $13.3m, $14.7m, $16m and $17.3m in 2010-11. This matches under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, so really it comes down to whether or not the Blazers think they can do better.
Personally, I wouldn't do this deal. Not just yet. I think the Blazers could do a little better with some active shopping.

Bout time Cleveland started to make a little bit of noise. I think this is quite a good signing considering the type of players that are left in the market.
Should be a nice role player, but im not sure how they are gonna spread out minutes between Z, Drew, Varejao, Marshall and Pollard, but we will see. I guess Marshall can always slot into a backup SF spot.
The San Antonio Spurs have announced that they have signed Charles Lee, Rich Melzer, Jared Reiner and Jamar Smith.
Free agent guard Bonzi Wells arrived in Houston this afternoon to meet with Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson and head coach Jeff Van Gundy.
An eight year veteran, Wells says he could sign with Houston within the next 48 hours.
“I could. I definitely could. It’s up to the organization. I would want to sign depending on how everything worked out,” Wells told FOX 26’s Mark Berman.
Wells knows wherever he goes he would probably be signing a one-year contract.
“Hopefully we will have good news for each other. We are going to be talking about the situation and the possibility of me playing here (this) year,” said Wells. “Houston would be a good spot for me to make my home. They have a great team. Hopefully they will give me an opportunity to come here and play my game.”
During his career, Wells has averaged 12.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists a game.
“They already have what they need with Yao and Tracy McGrady. Hopefully I can come and be a good teammate. With Yao and Tracy there that would make my life a whole lot easier because I would have a whole lot of open shots and the lane would be wide open for me with those getting most of the attention.”
Wells, who played most in Sacramento last year, acknowledges that Denver and Miami are also possibilities if nothing works out here in Houston.
