My picks
USA by 17 over Greece
Spain by 7 over Spain

USA needs to work the ball into the paint. they have so many good driving guys like lebron, wade etc. Dont settle for the 3, penetrate and destroy. However i think the game will be won with USA's bigmen. Howard, Bosh, Brand will all have solid games with plenty of offesive rebounds

Spain should continue what they are doing. Speedy transition play by the guards followed up by great moves in the paint by Gasol.

What is up with the Greeks? One quarter to go, Greece leads by 12. What a great 4th quarter this is gonna be... Damn.

Greece just beat USA! 101-95. :? Greece kept on doing Pick N' Roll and the US couldn't defend it.

as an American, I hate to see them lose. but as a basketball fan, I was glad to see a good game (as opposed to a USA blowout). The US got dominated by the pick & roll for over 2 quarters and didn't figure out how to slow it down till it was too late. well, at least we should have the likes of Lamar Odom, Marion, Redd, & Amare the next time around

HELLAS! (Y) USA were strong in the first half and they weren't even bad in the second. But those Greeks are just too smart. It was a big fat Greek bedding to sleep of the U.S. I feel sorry for the guys, though. They would have deserved it.

Damn, I though they would be playing the late game, so when I sat down at the computer there was 55 seconds left in the game (n)
How was the game otherwise? Did Greece deserve it, or did they just get lucky?

Oh well, Spain vs. Argentina is bound to be a great one as well...

Wade can't defend shit. He plays defense with his hands and he tried to do 'spectatular' passes even with USA down by 10. And Sofoklis Schorkaofdkopakfd is awesome. European Glen Davis, only taller (6'10 in shoes), longer (7'2 wingspan) and more explosive.

It's always the same with the U.S. The best individual players don't automatically make the best team. But they were close this time.

A really disappointing game. It was the first USA game I saw this tournament and probably the last. A perfect exsample of the fact that your name, your million dollar contracts cost absolutely nothing on the court.

The US got destroyed by zone defence, there were very few ocations when they played team basketball. They've got 5 athleatic freaks on the court, but they can't win if they're going 1-on-3 all the time. It was sad to see LeBron and Wade ballhog and force their way to the basket most of the time. And the freethrows. No comments. Ok, enough of that, 95 points is pretty much looking at the way they played.

Defense was nothing compared to offense. It's unbelievable, that NBA stars can't defend a fucking pick and roll. The game can't get less basic than that. They played no defence what so ever after the first quarter. It made my eyes hurt. Unbelivable!

I really belived that this WC would be the second coming of the Dream Team, but yeah... I would have never belived, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

Guy's lets be realistic here we did not have our most talented player's out there such as Kobe, Ray Allen,Chauncey Billup's or Michael Redd. And every know's it I give the greek's all the credit in the world because they deserved to win this game with the effort they put up. But the USA p;layed like shit yet we were still up 12 at one point in this game. So hold on to this while you guy's can because Kobe,Billup's and the rest of team usa's many not only talented player's but also defensive minded players' will be there in 2008!!

Two or three defensive minded players can't make up for the defensive mistakes of the rest of the team full of "superstars". On the paper, the team was as good as it can get, the players just couldn't get it done.

^^How about that commentator who stayed discreditening and complaining about the US players. "They thought they would win just cause of their big names", "it takes more than jumping ability to win the game" and "they came here with their heads high and were too cocky"... Wanted to punch the guy...

And it's a bit debatable whether Paul and Wade are worse than Billups and Redd. But then again, Wade has to be one of the most overrated players around. No shot, no defense, only penetration. Like I said before - allow handchecking and Wade becomes a borderline All-Star giving you 20ppg/45% from the field. Anthony is the best one from the 'big three'.

In this tournament Wade has gone back to being a can't make a basket otuside the paint kind of guy and was making far to many To's.

The interesting part is, that it doesn't look THAT bad in the box score. The Greeks shot above 60% just due to the fact they were wide open most of the time. As Steve Kerr would say in NBA Live 06: a NBA player makes that shot 9 out of 10 times.
