Spain, tryin to make history

Postby Pirrimarzon on Tue Aug 22, 2006 2:43 am

Its not new that spanish NT is considered as one of the possible candidates to win the world championship, but all that I can say after three games is not enough. First of all, spanish NT is made with a very defined nucleous of players, the winners of junior world tournament in Lisbon '99. Players such as Gasol, Navarro, Reyes, Cabezas, Berni... made an amazing chemistry to play basketball, and they continue this all the tournaments they played after that one. This nucleuos, together with the collaboration of some decisive players, have transformed a boring NT (remember the loss against Angola in '92) into a winning roster. Besides, this generation isnt alone on the road; Calderon and Vidal are one year younger, M. Gasol and Rudy are 5 years younger and Sergio Rodriguez 6 years younger than Lisbon generation. So, a team made of players that have been playing for so long, they know themselves, know their limits and qualities, and try to do the less possible mistakes. So, they are almost invincible.

Yea guy, Calderon is also good because he was able to consider that the top scorers of the team, Gasol, Garbajosa and Navarro, were not scoring a lot, and so he took the team on his shoulders and scored enough to not miss the others. That's a signal of a mature player.

I think Spain has a huge chance of beating Team USA in the gold medal game.

I've been impressed by their team chemistry and of course, the individual players on the team. They are very dangerous. (Y)

Rudy Fernadez, Jose Calderon, Pau Gasol are all cool. But my favourite player on the team is Navarro (Y)

Keep up the good work Spain.

I hope you're right Pirri....I always like to see Spain do well....along with Argentina, I think they are the only 2 teams that can realistically win the gold off the US

¡¡¡SPAIN IS IN THE FINAL!!!

I'm not agree whit Young Buck. Spain is much more than Pau, Spain is a TEAM. They have Navarro, Calderon, Garbajora, Rudy, Sergio, Felipe,... and all of them could win a mach by their own participation, so i think Spain could win.

Here is a video that i had made in honor to Spain:

Championsss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The gold medal is for ussssssssssssssssssssss!!!! Ueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

They deserved it, they are our best generation of players, much better than silver medal '84 generation.

Congratulations for all of them, specially for coach Pepu Hernandez, whose father died yesterday night. I will continue supporting them!!

I'm realy glad of the spanish win, not because they were my favorites, but because they totally owned Greece. Those greek guys think that they cannot be defeated, they have a lot of unnecessary self-confidence, but as one of the bulgarian comentators said about Greece's performance today : "TOUCH-DOWN"
"What do you want to be remembered for ? As someone who went out and played basketball just as hard as he could and was a total team player"

I've read this article in www.nba.com:

Raptor Prospect Garbajosa Delivers
"Now we know why the Raptors signed Jorge Garbajosa this summer," writes Christopher Johnson of THE TORONTO STAR. "With centre Pau Gasol out with a broken foot and two Spanish big men in early foul trouble, the burden fell upon the 6-foot-9 Garbajosa. He responded with the game of his life, leading Spain to its first world basketball championship with 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals."

http://www.nba.com/news/320156.html

I'm sure that american journalists have watched no previous game of Jorge Garbajosa, because they have no idea about how good he can be. Sure he got a good game in the final, but the spaniards are used to watch him playing always like this. It wasnt the game of his life, simply one good game more. We call him the "Porn player" because he always does everything orgasmically well.
