if this deal goes thru, the clippers have lost big time. i knw dunleavy is the coaches son and that maggette has been hurt during his career, but this move would not be a good one by any means. i would take corey over dunleavy anyday...

Denver is going to be the biggest winner of that trade, on paper of course. Maggette needs to prove that he is able to play 82 games a season first.

Maggette's one of my favourite players, so I'll be jumping on the Nuggets bandwagon if this trade goes through.

Yeah, I doubt it will go through. But I wouldnt mind Magette in Denver, we need someone solid at 2.

Magette wants out of LA though, which means the clippers would be lucky to get someone as good as mike dunleavy in return, even though he's definitely no Magette.

J.R. Smith sucks, he's a whiner and crybaby. He doesn't deserve a spot on the starting lineup, or the 8th man on the bench either.

Maggette won't help the Nuggets that much. Even though he's improved his shooting greatly, it's still suspect, and he isnt much of a 3pt shooter, which is what they deserpately need. Dunleavy Jr would probably come off the bench, and could give the Clips some offense and shooting as a back-up to Quinton Ross, who appears to have won the starting position. If this trade goes through, I see the Warriors as the biggest winner, followed by Denver, LA and Atlanta.

The Hawks would have Smith as solid big man, and Claxton as solid PG. Plus Josh Smith. Would be an improvement.

I don't like the possibility of Dunleavy getting his son on his team... plus Maggette is a better player and is more athletic. I hope for the Clippers' sake they don't do this.

I'd have to agree with Qballer here....and besides, they already resigned, Vladimir Radmanovic who I like better than Dunleavy anyways....

I could've sworn Vlad Rad signed with the Lakers and the Clippers upgraded with Tim THomas

the thought of Dunleavy coaching his son is sickening to me, it reminds me of little league bball where a dad coaches his son on a team.

If Maggette goes to Denver, it would be in a 6th man situation, which is worse than what he has in LA. There's no way he'll bump Melo for the starting SF position, neither of them can play as guards on offense or defense.

Maggette is a guy who needs the ball in his hands, and wants to make a move to the basket and draw a foul. That's his game, not catch & shoot jumpers from Melo.

Even discouting last season, in 04 he shot 657 free throws compared to 168 3 pointers, and he shot so few because he was bad at them, 30% shooter.

I don't think Maggette is as valuable a commodity in the NBA market as he thinks he is. On any team he'll take the ball away from your main superstar, he doesn't play defense, and he can't hit outside shots. He's a case that i think could have used a few years under Coach K at Duke. Because with a strong outside shot, Maggette could have been All-Star material.

I dont see why Magette wouldnt start. He had injury problems this year but if he comes back there's no reason he shouldn't be a starter. Averaging 22ppg isnt easy, he is one of the better players in the league, and he's a decent shooter.

they did too, forgot all about that....I wouldn't have signed Thomas, big risk there....maybe Dunleavy won't be so bad after all when compared to Thomas....I think if his son goes to Clippers, it will cost him his job....eventually....

Smith is a skinny power foward and is washed up. I doubt he'll log much playing time over guys like Pachulia or Williams since his expiring contract is probably the only reason why teams would want him.

Unless they draft someone good, they're bound to suck because whenever one talented player stands out on their otherwise terrible roster, they take a contract elsewhere with a winning team.
