one signing that hasn't happened, but doesn't surprise me/but should surprise someone (*ahem* Fenix) is JAY WILLIAMS

the hype about him deserving a 2nd chance/he would make a great pg for team 'x' resurfaced after draftexpress had that article about him working out against Marcus Williams

obviously if this guy was good as the article hyped him out to be, he would at the least received a non guaranteed contract... or better yet rumored on RealGM/NyPost/Espn to possibly sign with a team

I'm still waiting for Bonzi to sign with a team, especially after his playoff performance I bet someone is bound to overpay this guy.

Hopefully he hasn't overpriced himself and takes the Latrell Sprewell route.

Dallas is looking to sign Devean George

The Mavericks are working on details of a contract that will lock up former Los Angeles Laker Devean George.

The 6-8, free-agent forward was a vital part of the Lakers' championship teams with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. That experience is what has the Mavericks excited about the possibility of landing him with a veteran's minimum contract, about $1.2 million guaranteed.

George averaged 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds last season, playing 71 games.

The Mavericks on Monday finalized the trade that brings backup point guard Anthony Johnson to the team for Darrell Armstrong, Josh Powell and Rawle Marshall. Even if Powell and Marshall are waived by the Pacers, they will not be returning to Dallas.

The Mavericks, according to Johnson, believe that a veteran with NBA Finals experience will better serve them at this point than young projects. George would fit that billing.

George officially signed today.

Dallas is going to win it all next year, they have the deepest team in the league and have the most talented big man who I think will be in line for his first MVP this year.

I tought orlando signed stevenson but

Free agent DeShawn Stevenson agreed to terms with the Washington Wizards on Thursday, his agent, Mark Bartelstein told ESPN.com.

According to Bartelstein, Stevenson agreed to a two-year contract worth the NBA minimum salary. Since he has six-plus years of service, that would be $932,015 for the first year. Stevenson has a player option in the second year of the contract.

The deal is a pretty big blow to Stevenson financially. He opted out of a contract this spring that would have paid him $3 million and then turned down a three-year, $10 million contract from the Magic in early July.

Stevenson then changed agents and agreed to the deal with the Wizards.

"There just isn't much money left out there," Bartelstein said. "This gives DeShawn an excellent opportunity to play significant minutes on a very good team. I think by next summer, the rest of the league will see his real value and he'll earn back the money he lost."

The next big step for the Wizards will be deciding whether to match the Knicks' offer sheet to restricted free agent Jared Jeffries.

The Knicks made Jeffries a five-year, $30 million offer that the Wizards have until Monday to match. Several sources familiar with the Wizards' thinking believe that they are leaning against matching the offer due to luxury tax concerns. Matching the Knicks offer would put the Wizards over the luxury tax threshold.

The Stevenson signing was a great one for the Wizards. Very good move by EG there, Stevenson should give some depth and athleticism to the team, and he can help defensively.

Also with EJ's offensive system, an athletic guard like Stevenson should fit in quite well. Getting a 25 year old lower level starting quality SG who still has potential for the minimum is as good as it get's in terms of a bargain.

Lol, well, heres a piece of proof for him I guess, if it means anything  . Scroll down for the roster. LINK

year contract worth an estimated $6 million, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Wright, a 6-11, 250-pound 10-year veteran, played the past five seasons in Memphis, alongside All-Star center Pau Gasol. He started 58 of 78 regular season games for the Grizzlies this past season and averaged 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while playing just 21.7 minutes per game

Not a bad pick up at all, especially since he's rumoured to be making 3 million a year.

Nice signing for ATL, they're getting a pretty decent big man core. They had Pachulia already, drafted Shelden, and now picked up a solid big man in Lorenzen Wright for only 3 million/ year.

I really don't think that Shelden will do anything in his career. He will be a career bench player who will never get a shot to play.

Thats my opinion though.

heh it's not like i didn't believe him because i recognized the name from the Clips' summer teams from a while back... he's one of those guys that get to the summer league each year but never makes a team.

Bonzi is going to have to settle for the MLE, unless Charlotte wants him which isn't likely.

I'd like to see Bonzi in Seattle, he'd be a good fit there. I could also see him in Orlando.

Yeah, the magic just lost Stevenson, and Bonzi would be a pretty decent upgrade. Not athletically. But he'd be a much better shooter, which would be good if JJ doesnt quite pan out this year.

Well they are both pretty atrocious shooters, especially from beyond the arc. There is no doubt that Bonzi is a better scorer, rebounder, and he is a slightly better defender. Does Orlando have their full MLE?

I doubt it. The Magic signed Bogans, who in a way plays like Stevenson.

Looks like Jared Jefferies will become a Knick. Washington does not match the offer New York gave to Jefferies. LINK[/quote]

VAN HORN TO RETIRE?: Former University of Utah coach Rick Majerus told the Rocky Mountain News that former Ute Keith Van Horn might retire, although at least the Denver Nuggets are interested in signing him, though for a lot less than the $15.7 million he earned last season with Dallas. Van Horn lives in Evergreen, Colo., with his wife and four children.
"That's always a possibility," Majerus told RMN writer Chris Tomasson. "His family is very important to him. It's much more important than the NBA."
Mavericks president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson told Tomasson the same thing. He said Van Horn "made a lot of money in his lifetime" and retirement is "always an option."

sucky, but i guess when you get that big pay check retirement is always an option. Kind of a cheap move if it happens by the former number 2 pick.

i think Jay Williams should of been signed by now, or at least show evidence that he will be signed. i think that even despite his horrific crash, hes come along way and is still a great NBA caliber player. i really do hope he makes it back to the NBA, and if teams decide to pass on him, im gonna be pretty dam disappointed. after maybe a season or so, i think he will back and ready, used to the game and back in his flow and be a effecient backup point guard

Another day, another huge contract and a new overpaid Knick on Isaiah's roster. The team said they wanted to go in a defensive direction, but still not making the substantial moves needed to prevent such a terrible season.
