I don't know what to say. I haven't watched enough Jones' game to know his game. It never hurts to sign him if the price was right. 2-3 mil / year, 4 max(a bit too much, but if he's got potential, then...).

The only problem i have with him is that he's short. He's short to play SG. Sure Ben Gordon can play, but he's got that jump shot, dribble, and quickness to make up for it. Jones isn't a good dribbler, nor a good shooter.

Now we need a back up PG, just in case when one of the PG get injured. We only have 2 PGs, and Salmons could've been the third. A backup like.... Andre Barret.....

I would like to see Fred Jones as a Raptor. His contract doesnt seem too bad, and plus he can attract more fans because of his dunks. He would be a good addition since Salmons is not coming to Toronto.

He would probably be starting, since Parker hasnt proved himself in the NBA>

I don't think he should start, he would be good off the bench.

After Jones and Garbajosa, basically nothing. But they can still sign guys to minimum contracts.

And next summer, they're gonna have 2 big contracts coming off, Mourning's and Alvin Williams'. But then after Ford and Peterson are resigned, they might have a few, maybe 5 million to spend, depending on what the cap is at.

Report: Toronto's Offer, Style Good Fit for Jones
"Fred Jones is headed to Toronto," writes Mike Wells of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. "Jones' agent said Sunday that the shooting guard has agreed to a three-year deal for about $11 million with the Raptors."

Well, he came at a cheaper price than Salmons, but I seriously wonder how the Raptors are going to do in their backcourt. I mean, Jones should be getting time at solely the SG position, but I'm worried about him defensively.

Who here thinks Raptors have a chance of making the playoffs? With the team they have as of now.

they might... im not exactly sure.. because bc still has to test with this team..even though its a good team..knicks have good players too why do they have such a bad record... so i think bc will need another year or two to get to know the players alot better and the team and then we will probably make the playoffs and start thinkin about goin big time

What do you mean by "text" with his team?

There's always a chance for the Raptors to sneak into the playoffs, but that depends on how well the European players play (namely Bargnani). I'm pretty confident that AFTER the 06-07 season that the Raptors will be in the playoffs.

I think there's too much being made of Fred Jones' height. A player's true physical impact on the court is more about his wingspan and shoulder height, and Fred Jones has a wingspan close to 7'...which is on par with the wingspan of 6'6" or 6' 7" guys like Ronnie Brewer and Rodney Carney. Add in an exceptional vertical, and the point he can put his hand out to alter a shot or cover a shooter's vision is pretty standard.

Whether he wants to play D or not is another question...but i'd be surprised if anybody playing for Bird is a major defensive liability.

My question is what's the deal with Graham? Is he a bust?

He has potential, but from what I've been reading about him, he lacks the passion.

As for making the playoffs, that's a huge question mark. There's what, 9 new guys on the team that's never played with each other before? I dunno, chemistry takes time, but the good thing is, having a bunch of Europeans that understand the fundamentals of basketball could speed up the chemistry process. As for muscle, we're not exactly a physically strong team, but our speed makes up for a lot of our pitfalls.

Graham simply didn't have the minutes to gain any confidence that he lost after he was beat out by Eric Williams in the rotation, (hell, I'd be pretty pissed off if they were playing that excuse of a ball player ahead of me). Graham was a starter early in the season, played fairly well, but never really did anything to really solidify him as a starter. He was too passive at times on offence, and he would struggle against quicker players because they could simply stay ahead of him and he does not have the ball handling ability to get past them.

Personally, I thought the main reason was that Mitchell was playing that piece of turd ahead of him, which he shouldn't have. The main thing Graham needs to work on his ball handling; then everything can take care of itself because he definitely has a lot of skills to be a very good player, but he can't really do much of anything unless he improves his dribbling.

i agree, Graham was too passive. When he was aggressive, he was very effective. He's got a good jump shot and he's strong enough to take the ball inside. But as a rookie, he probably felt that he shouldn't be gettingt too many touches. I hope he'll get more touches and be more aggressive this coming season. Otherwise he just might see a lot of playing time on the bench..... we've got Parker, Jones, Mo, Tucker who can all play Graham's position.

they also plan to sign the 2nd round draft pick in 05.. uros slokar guy..and asdf sorry i meant to say test for some reason everytime i want to type test i type text everytime i want to type text i type test...i meant cyanide said.. the team is like new because bc just came and made so much changes in this off season.. and i think bargnani still need to adjust more, its good to not put him on the lineup because even tho he did pretyt good in the summer league, he took lots of shots.. he needs to drive in more and get to the line more. the raptors have to stop taking random shots. now that mike james is gone i think we wont be ilke that anymore..tj will be feeding the ball to bosh and them... i have hope but i just dont think this year will be the year... but if it is then i will be mad crazy cheering for them in the playoffs

Alright it's official, Fred Jones has been signed for 3 years $11million. I think that's a good deal, not too long, not too much. If he can prove himself in 3 years, we can sign him again, by then Parker will be around 33-34 years old, Mo will be 32-33 yr old.

Sorry, kind of OT from this right now, but please tell me what you think of this idea.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Raptors had a 15 presentation on opening day? The video theywould show would be around 15mins and would show a small clip from every year 95-06/07, and for each year, they played a very popular song from that year...

No. I don't think fans need to be reminded of years and years of losing.

What about a flashback, and then they show 06 as a new start, for the team, the front office, and the city (well... what I meant is the fans).

idk.. i dont think the fans would like seeing vince carter play thye would boo and it would be the worst opening day.. i think what they should do on opening day is make a "Good Bye Charlie" slideshow
