I wish we had another Canadian team, I'm tired of people cheering for the Raptors just because they're Canadian. I just think we need another team. Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton.......SASKATOON.... I think they could all support a team. But I don't want a team in Montreal because then all the games will be broadcasted in stupid french like the Canadien's games.

lol, people from different countries want a team in a place they don't even live. I went to a Hornets game, and yes, OKC is first in line to get a relocation team. Sorry.

thatd be hilarious, too bad it wont, but i wonder what it would be called, something like: The Maine Lobsters. its the only real thing theyre famous for.
and hey, does idaho have any sports teams?

i found these two teams
Idaho Falls Padres (R) - Idaho Falls - minor league baseball
Idaho Steelheads (WCHL) - Boise - hockey
they could have the maine black bears or the portland pirates

I think if vegas can put on a good show for the all-star weekend and get the crowds there, then they'll be the front runners.
And considering that what Vegas does is good shows...
Now starting for your Las Vegas Supersonics.....
Siegfried & Roy
little enthusiastic with the butt slapping there fellas.

The Oklahoma City Supersonics sounds kinda dumb, if they do movem maybe they should think about changing the mascot to the cowboys or something...
Thu Jul 20, 2006 2:19 am
Yeah, but if the Jazz havent changed their nickname to something more "city-appropriate" after all these years...
Oklahoma City Supersonics is a mouthful, they'd never be able to find an arena announcer who was interested in saying that 20 times a night.

Stern has historically denied Vegas from having an NBA team as long as sports gambling goes on. Although the ASG is a sign that he may be softening his stance, who knows. But Vegas trying to get an NBA team is pretty much an annual attempt.
Hopefully the new owners will keep the Sonics somewhere near Seattle..probably Bellevue. But ultimately the problem is that Seattle is a very small city (smaller than Charlotte NC) and has 3 major sports teams, and the Mariners & Seahawks will always take priority.

OMG i cant believe this is happening!!!! ive been a sonics fan since i could walk, man this hurts, fucking seattle bastards.
its not over yet though... "Bennett said Seattle has a 12-month deadline to come to a binding agreement on the assurance of a publicly funded successor to KeyArena or the group would move the team to Oklahoma City."
"At the news conference announcing the sale, Schultz displayed both sadness and defiance; Walker, a member of the 1979 NBA championship team and in the front office since 1994, looked ashen and ready to break down on several occasions; and Bennett was strangely matter-of-fact for a man who had just spent $350 million for an NBA franchise."
fucking seattle stiffs, 2 new stadiums and they are dragging their feet when it comes to keeping a professional sports team on the rise in seattle

They should move it to Vancouver, Since it is close to Seattle and have a NBA-Level arena already. I think Western Canadians would appreciate that aLot...And Vancouver Sonics isn't a bad name^^(Or at least better than Vancouver Blazers...)

The NBA doesn't need more expansion in fact, it should relegate teams that haven't made playoffs in ages (GSW, raptors, hawks?) That would take care of balancing the league.
When teams get relegated, they should be able to retain some of their players, but have some of them unprotected and the whole league can have an expansion draft of sorts to take the unprotected players!

The Seattle buyers are just saying they want to keep the team in Seattle, basically they've given some deadline that's 99.9% going to be broken and they want to move the team to OKC.
Let's get another franchise in NJ, since the Nets are moving out. I mean, most NJ people will always be Nets fans but it's a high population state and people need some exposure to basketball.
