Clippers Keeping Brand & Maggette

They going to match Miami's offer for Brand and they also seem to be going to match Utah's offer.
The retention of Brand would be the first step in an unprecendented outlay of Cash by the Clippers, in efforts to retain much of the team's core. The Clippers also have indicated that they will match the six-year, $42 million offer Utah made to guard Corey Maggette.

Smart move. Better than the way they dealt with Olowokandi (re-signing him for one year then allowing him to walk without getting anything in return).

I knew they wouldn't let Brand go after giving up Chandler for him, but I was suprised to hear they are going to match Utah's offer sheet on Maggette. I think they should leave Odom alone now. They don't need him. They aren't going to go anywhere near the playoffs, so they should save the cap room and hope for a good draft pick. That would also open up room for Richardson, Wilcox and Ely.

First Maggette, then Miller and now Brand? Who left? Odom, Q, Dooling, Piatkowski and Wilcox...they were far much better than now.

Not focusing on just you Jonas, but lots of people have been saying similar. Why is this such a surprise? Donald Sterling has never failed to match the right of first refusal.

Why can't the clippersmake the playoffs. They have or had a good team. They shouldn't have traded dmiles because miller was on his last year and didnt do shit for the clippers. They better get brand or odom or someone back and then go after a pg because they are week in that position.

How can they win if the owner of the franchise doesn't believe in them and is just running the team just for money? He does such a nice job you know, hiding in the Laker's shadow just to get cash.

EVERY time the Lakers and Clippers play, they play at the same arena. You know that right? People are there to watch the Lakers but they are also paying money to watch the Clippers.

Because the West is way to strong and they haven't improved from last season when they sucked anyway.

I know but they oughta get there over the t'wolves. Come on. BTW i'm pretty sure having a crappy owner doesnt have too much influence on winning. Especially with how talented they were.

The Timberwolves were the 4th seed last year. Using last year's bracket as an example, to make the playoffs ahead of the Timberwolves they'd also be making the playoffs ahead of the Suns, Jazz, Blazers and Lakers. On paper, the Clippers look pretty talented. On the court, the Timberwolves have the better results.

BTW i'm pretty sure having a crappy owner doesnt have too much influence on winning. Especially with how talented they were.

That depends. If the owner has a system of revolving door talent, then there isn't going to be much chemistry, and sometimes there won't be much talent either. Also, consider the way the Clippers go through coaches. Few Clipper coaches have the opportunity to implement a system with a stable group of core players.
