He can do so much for a team and he is good in the post as well. I mean, I think Memphis got the better end of the deal of course, but Houston got what they needed, a real solid player to compliment both Tmac and Yao. There's no need for Houston to get another potential star player when they already have 2 on their team. So I think Houston is good with or without Gay. Memphis on the other hand really needed a player of Gay's caliber. There's no telling who really won the deal though because either player can come up big for either team this year because Gay has good player surrounding him already. Battier is almost 30 years old, and he may be consistent every night for around 11-12ppg, 6-7rpg, 1.5spg and 1.5bpg, but I expect Gay to average around 17ppg, 5-6rpg, 1bpg if he starts and get starter minutes around 30+.
Let's be realistic here. I don't think Rudy Gay is going to average what you just posted. Start around 11 ppg, 5 rpg and .5 blocks. If he could do that entering the league, he wouldn't have dropped to seven.

Oh, he can if he wants to and he gets starter minutes like I said. Maybe I went a little OD on the ppg, maybe around 14-15 at the most. Gay quoted in the paper that his goals this year is to win ROY and lead the team to the playoffs, so if he wants to become ROY he is going to have to put up numbers like that.
Every rookies' goal is to win ROY and lead his team to the playoffs. What the hell makes Gay so special in that aspcet? What makes him more-equipped to do that than the other top picks in the draft?
