NBA Summer league thread

Fri Jul 07, 2006 2:23 pm

well I figure that there's going to be plenty of threads started on the various summer leagues starting soon... we can talk about it all in one place. I tihnk I might be going up to Long Beach to watch the summer pro league with the Lakers, Mavs, Grizzlies, and Wizards. Oh I hope Rudy Gay comes out for the Grizz.

anyways, today was the first day of the Vegas summer league and a few people stood out... Kevin Martin had a great game for Sac as expected and Brandon Roy had a whopping EIGHT assists and Martell WEbster scored 29 (including 5 3s) in a Blazers loss.

Speaking of Rudy Gay what team is he gunna play for when the season begins? What happened to the Rudy Gay and Shane Battier deal?

Fri Jul 07, 2006 2:38 pm

Yea I'm not sure either, everyone said that deal went down, the Rockets have him on their official roster.. Also it was never officially announced.

Post 900

Great to hear about Roy and Webster, they'll be great in the future, hopefully :proud: .

The Gay deal can't go down until the NBA annouces the salary cap on the 16th I believe. That's why none of the signings are official either.

Qballer, watch out for Bynum. He's gonna make people's jaw drop. (Y)

Nice first game by Bargnani. Foye, Roy, and Martell Webster also did well. So did a lot of guys on the Houston team.

Fri Jul 07, 2006 4:52 pm

Lucas had a great game by the looks of things. Is there anywhere online we can stream these games?

LOL

man I wish I could've caught a Laker game lst year when he was god awful. now he's just horrible, thanks to Kareem.

ok, so he had ONE GOOD MOVE on Shaq, but Shaq wasn't really playing hard that play cuz he knows Bynum sucks.

@Laker Socks, you know that Bynum's nickname is "Socks"?

it's all about Chuck Hayes!!! He's pretty sick... I tihnk he was at the top last season for rebounds per 48 minutes.

EDIT: Just looked it up...
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(6.0)
Ranks #10 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(10.0)
Ranks #3 in the NBA in Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(16.1)
Ranks #14 in the NBA in Steals Per 48 Minutes(2.33)

so bottom line is that he needs more minutes.

Nah, my opinion was not based on his move on shaq. Im basing it on the defense he showed against Duncan and the work ethic he showed.

Yeah, i most definitely know his nickname is socks. Im a very big fan.

Day 2 at Vegas and Amare had 21 pts 8 boards and 6 TOs...
2nd game for the Blazers and the young ones continue to impress me (yes, I know it's summer league, but still they're putting up numbers)
Martell hit 2 3s for 13 pts & 7 rebs... Alridge had 14 pts 6 rebs, 2 stls & 4 blks... solid. Roy scored 13.
Hilton Armstrong had a double-double.

I might be going to the first day of the Summer Pro League tomorrow... I'll let you guys know how it goes if I wind up going.

Sat Jul 08, 2006 7:45 pm

6 turnovers man that is bad !!

Sat Jul 08, 2006 10:51 pm

Andriuskevicius had a nice game (Y)

Sun Jul 09, 2006 7:05 pm

First day of the SPL in Long Beach... didn't make it out, probably will next week.
In the Lakers/Grizzlies game, they listed Rudy Gay on the roster (along with Joe Forte & Kyle Lowry), but a DNP. He'll probably make it out after the 12th. Lawrence Roberts had a nice game, none of the Lakers really stood out.

Sun Jul 09, 2006 9:10 pm

It sounds like Bynum hasn't improved by much. Stronger upper body, runs the floor better, but still lacks explosivness, his hands are still mediocre, has his shot blocked a lot,...

Sun Jul 09, 2006 11:20 pm

Someone wana help suss this out with me?

For the first time, all 15 Pepsi Pro Summer League games will be streamed live over the Internet and you can catch them right here on OrlandoMagic.com.

Will this cost anything? I'm really interested in seeing Marcus Williams, James White, J.J and Morrison!
