Charlie V traded to bucks for TJ Ford

what the fucking hell are you talking about?
charlie was great, without charlie, raptors would have had the worst record.
charlie is like tied at dunking with bosh ont he raptors...he is a good dunker(like amare or dwight), as well as shooting 3s. hes not that great of a shooter but he isnt that bad either, and yeah hes tall. gives him an advantage doesnt it.
so there you go, i dont kno what you mean by hes the next danyall marshall, first ofall, he is taller, second, he can dunk better, third, he can block, fourth, he drives instead of taking 3s or passing the ball all the time, 4th, charlie will never be as good of a shooter as danyall marshall. and also, danyall marshall was good, just that we didnt need his type here. so dont be insulting charlie like that, seriously, he is good.

lol ....CV is not in the same area code as amare or dwight ..CV as no where the same strength them two have .... and lets something clear ...just because you can dunk dont mean shit ...a.k.a Miles= Biggest Let Down ..... The raptors needed a PG ..and some times you have to give a little to get a little ...and that was certainly that in this case . I see T.J ford becoming a solid Point Guard Under Mitchelll because Sam makes them run and run

I love how everyone is saying that CV would've been an all-star and all, and he certainly has the potential, but how is he going to fufill it in Toronto?

Honestly, 12 and 6 is probably the maximum amount of productivity with Bosh and Bargnani ahead of him.

Its nice to have potential and all, but he's never going to fufill it in Toronto.

Charlie V can avg like 20 points when he gets better ( and will ) ..
TJ ford on the other hand, hes gonna run the raptors, hes a star-calibre player also..

This is a good trade for toronto, an avg trade for Bucks..

Toronto gets sum1 who can make them go uptempo... A great penetrator.. A point guard is wut makes a team go.. Hes not Nash-like , hes faster and more athletic, but his shooting is avg, not a weapon like nash... i'm expecting Ford to have a great season along with the raptors..

PGs are wut makes the game go nowadays, look at Nash, Kidd, Paul, Cassell, Baron(when he was healthy), Luke Ridnour

hahah, have fun with Ford. Im a bucks fan, and after watching pretty much all their games last season, i wanted ford to be traded most of all. Id much rather have Mo or Bell starting at PG. Average trade for the bucks? Nah man, Bucks hit the lotto in this deal.

Can you seriously shut up? You never contribute at all to ANY of the threads you post in, and every post you type out has that stupid MSN-esque rambling to it that makes you sound like an undecisive jerk-wad.

mmmm i duno, maybe buh Charlie V is soooooooo gud bcuz he's liek gud n stuf liek wateva!

If you're not going to prove your point with anything useful, do yourself a favour and just don't post at all. Charlie's good? Yeah thanks jackass. But tell me, if he's so good, then give a reason for it, not just because he's the "jackpot".

Charlie has potential, but he's never going to fufill it with Toronto with such a huge logjam at the power foward position, end of discussion. He also seems like the kind of guy that isn't going to be defensively tough in his NBA career either, he has too much of a laid back demeanor defensively.

Charlie V is a bad Defender? Maybe for some. . but when you draft outta Europe you ain't getting NO. . Absolutely NO Defence from him. Raptors don't even have a good bench and their trading starters for starters. You can bring in any point guard to Toronto and they'll fit in. Mike James was here and he average around 5 assists. TJ Ford Averages like 6.6 assists. so theres not that much of a difference. I don't like this move at all. All Toronto needed was to add some defence to their roster and they would have been fine. By the looks of it, they haven't added nothing, YET. If Bargnani develops good. You think Him and Bosh, who play the same position are gonna co-exsist? I don't think so.

Colangelo should have stayed in phonenix if he likes the way the phoenix suns play. In Toronto we need defence, and you don't win playoff games if you don't play defence!!

So Gasol got no defense, Ginobili got no defense, Kirilinko got no defense?
Mike james also averaged 50 shots a night.... james is a shoot first guard
while Ford is pass first. No matter how you look at it, Ford fits this team better than James. Bosh plays insides, while Bargnani play outside.

And with Bargnani's size and strength, in three or four years he could develop into a center. Judging by the way the game is played now, offense comes more from outside than inside, so a center who can shoot from anywhere would be a big bonus.

And Bargnani and Bosh will have no problem co-existing, there's no rule that says you can't play with two players with comparable heights.

Thank you!!

Glad to see that there are some sane raptor fans, who will not criticize very move the raptors make and lable it as the wrong move.

Looking at the Raptors roster right now. . There's only three people playin any D. That's Mo Pete, Bosh and Rasho.

I don't criticize all the moves as bad ones, this was bad cause they could have gotten more for Villanueva.

Gasol = OK defender, still can't guard Top Centres in the NBA
Ginobilli = Offensive Minded, not known for Defence
Kiralenko = This guy is the one of the best shot blockers in the league.

If Raptors don't get a bench, they will still suck next year, and it hurts for me to say that!! The team last year was fine, they just needed some veterans and some big defenders. We could have easily gotten Marcus Williams at the Number 1, now he's in New Jersy gonna run ish!!

Toronto is still a soft team

Well it is important to point out that even though Charlie will probably be the better player long-term and put up much better numbers, he wouldn't be able to fulfill that potential in Toronto. Both teams win with this deal, provided that Maurice Williams shows he can be a good starter, and that Bargnani makes the most of the increased time he will get with no Villenueva.

And I'm not sure they could have gotten more for Charlie. There aren't a lot of star point guards anymore, and even less who are pass first guys. Of course there is Kidd, Nash, Terry, Arenas, Baron Davis, Chris Paul, Hinrich, Billups, Bibby and Parker, but all of them are on teams with no one else who could step in (except maybe Terry and Hinrich) and take the starting job, and are players who you could not have gotten with Villenueva without giving another legit point guard back.

It would have been nice to maybe keep him for another year and find a one year fill in at the point, but because he'll be playing behind Bargnani, Bosh and Nesterovic, his value would have dropped enough that you wouldn't have been able to get a legitimate starting point guard going forward.

I found the Marcus Williams situation during the draft day very interesting. I've always thought he was the top PG in the draft, and will be drafted in the top 10. More than 10 teams passed on him for some reason. Was it his body, the suspension at the beginning of the year, or just bad luck at the workouts? I have no clue.

As for BC, i think he wanted to trade the pick, desperately, but as we all know this was a weak draft, and BC didn't get any offers that #1 pick would've gotten in the past.
Now we'll have to find veteran players in a trade or in the FA market, but i hope BC will make a move soon seen all of these players getting signed this quick.

just wondering, but for the 04-05 season, was that counted as TJ Ford's 2nd year in his rookie contract, or was the past season counted as his second year for the contract?

of course it counted. he was in the rookie sophmore game though because he missed all of his 2nd year, which made his 3rd year really his sophmore year.

Hunt: Bucks Following Correct Trade Route
"Not that I have anything to do with how the NBA conducts its business, but readers of this space are aware that I've been an advocate for a T.J. Ford trade since the Milwaukee Bucks' season ended more than two months ago," writes Michael Hunt of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. "Nothing against Ford personally, but the way he was abused in the playoffs only confirmed the notion that the Bucks will never be anything more than what they are with a wisp of a player running the point. Unless the Bucks can schedule Earl Boykins every other night, Ford is too small to cover anyone for a team that must get defensive to move forward."

When I first heard about this trade, I was a bit shocked, but now that I think about it, it's fairly good for both teams, moreso for the Raptors. TJ Ford will fit in with the new lineup Raptors, while Bogut and Charlie V will make a strong front court (I hope).

I'm just wondering who the BUcks will acquire for a pg.

What Ford lacks in defense, he makes up in speed and assists. If the Raptors play as a team defense and Ford utilize his speed to Iverson-like defense, then it shouldn't be too bad.

@ arrell - They have Mo Williams and Charlie Bell, so their PG situation is fine.

I agree with cyanide. The Raptors don't have great defensive players so they can't be a defensive team like the Pistons or Spurs. If Sam Mitchell can teach the Raptors to play team defense, they can really win in this league. Avery Johnson proved that with the Mavericks this year.

I like his speed, and hopefully what he lacks in defensive fundamentals or awareness he makes up in quickness.

Actually on a radio show today they were mentioning how Glen Grunwald wanted to take Ford with the fourth pick in that 03 draft ahead of Bosh  , and only after every one of his scouts disagreed with him and threatened to murder him did he change his mind. Imagine if that had actually happened, because Miami would've taken Bosh and maybe they wouldn't have won the championship this year, or even acquired Shaq, and Wade would've gone to the Bulls or the Clippers

just imagine how much pressure is on Bargnani to perform! I do not like this trade at all, the raps should have kept CV and drafted Aldridge or Marcus Williams.
