Charlie V traded to bucks for TJ Ford

Postby Laker Socks on Sat Jul 01, 2006 1:09 pm

Per ESPNEWS.

I'll post a link later.

Looks like Bargnani will be playing a big role this season for the raps.

Whoa... terrible trade for the Bucks. TJ showed flashes of brilliance last season, Villanueva is good and everything but I don't know if he's worth trading the starting point guard for.

too fragile maybe, but i guess this means maglorie will be gone. TJ was a pretty decent point guard though, things looking good for the new raptors.. life after VC

Colangelo building his team.

Bold move acquiring a pass first pg for a player that can fill a stat sheet. He wants this team to be like the suns.

Good news for raptor fans, this trade means the end of the mike james era.

Hell yes, this is a great trade for the bucks. Tj ford wasnt good for the team. he would always drive and then find himself in the middle with no where to go. He also turned the ball over alot in stupid situations. In my mind Maurice Williams and Charlie Bell did a hell of a lot better for the bucks late last year. Trading TJ Ford was on the top of my list as far as bucks moves. Now they just need to trade Magloire for something good. This GM the bucks got is brilliant! He hasnt made one bad move yet. I wonder if this means Scoonie Penn might make the Bucks roster this year.

We should make an official post draft nba transactions thread, because I want to update my rosters. I already have the rookies done now I just need the other player movements.

In some sense I'm sad to see Charlie go, because I think he'll be an impact player in this league, but TJ Ford is an excellent point guard, and the Raps are set at that position now for years to come. Just imagine if Ukic develops the way he has been projected, or if Calderon develops his jump shot. Hopefully this means that maybe the Raps will be in the running for Magloire.

Actually Ford has improved his 3 point shot, but i wouldnt have traded Charlie V for him. Bucks still need to move Magloire and Simmons.

Horrible trade for the Raptors. TJ Ford will never be an elite point guard with that insanely high turn-over rate.

If theres one thing the Raps can do, its hit threes. With Mo Pete and Joey still in town, that won't be a problem.

Just thinking, is there any evidence that Rob Babcock was even here now?

Hoffa, Bonner, Villenueva, James, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams, plus the first rounder he got in the Carter deal. I think Joey Graham is the only one left that Babcock brought in.

IMO, its once again a situation where Charlie V must prove doubters wrong. I expect him to make an impact with Milwaukee.

I wouldn't exactly call him a "pass first" PG, he earnt the nickname MeJ Ford over the season from most Bucks fans.

The annoying thing for me is that this means even less shots for Bogut. Villanueva is a black hole, in the limited time he gets on the floor he seems to just launch it everytime he gets the ball. I do like him, but Bogut :(

I think that Milwaukee wanted Charlie after he dropped 48 on them. So much for the next "Tim Duncan and David Robinson".

And Villlaneuva isn't going to get any better with Bosh and Bargnani ahead of him. Ford is more than adequate for a point guard, especially given the fact that this will be the most legitimate point guard they have since they had Mark Jackson for half a season. Besides, Ford is still young. He has plenty of time to work on his game.

I like the trade, I think that Ford will actually pass the damn ball to Bosh instead of pulling up for a ridiculous 28 foot three pointer in transition like another point guard that the Raptors had last season.

Charlies definitely a unique player, but I just didn't see him being the full-time small foward last season. I'd say his only real flaw is his defence, he's certainly an extremely versatile player on offence and can do a lot of things well. I don't really understand how he'll fit in though... Doesn't Milwaukee have enough big men?

so would charlie play PF or SF? I think the bucks need to trade Magloire for a shot block specialist. They really had no one to blocks shots. If they got that, with Bogut, Charlie, and Redd in the starting lineup, they could be pretty good.

Charlie V is the perfect compliment to Bogut on the block.

If anything, he will make Bogut's life easier in the post as he Charlie V will open up the midrange and allow Bogut to operate on the block.

Magloire is more of a blackhole compared to Villanueva, still Bogut did just fine.

Charlie is way too slow defensively to play small foward, and last year was an example of that. He's a matchup nightmare that can light it up on offence, but he'll get burned on the other end of the court.

Other than Maurice Williams, who else do the Bucks have in their backcourt? Charlie Bell seems more like an energetic scorer off the bench than someone who can run the offence.

Charlie Bell was very good in the end of the season. Very good on Defence and has a sound game. He doesnt do anything stupid, and he hits open shots. I actually wanted him to start over Ford in the bucks final playoff game vs Detroit. They might also sign Scoonie Penn who is in their summer camp. Or maybe they have a deal in the works to trade Magloire for a good PG. who knows, i doubt the bucks are done trading. Maybe they will trade Magloire to New Jersey for Marcus Williams?

Magloire barely got the ball in the post to begin with, Charlie is going to be more of an offensive option meaning he'll take alot more shots. Obviously Bogut will have an easier time in the post, but that doesn't mean he's going to get the ball any more than he already is.
